This is such a great find from the local area just off 210 close to the Food Lion. I've been going here with my family for probably 10 years and they do a fantastic job. My favorite is shrimp egg foo young. Others like sweet and sour chicken or pork. The really good news is this is an extremely reasonable place. Especially for lunch.! if you're on the north topsail Beach you're only 10 minutes away and save yourself a tremendous amount of money. Typically we don't eat there. Whenever our family goes on a beach trip, we make it a tradition to find a local Chinese takeout spot. Why? Because it's fast, familiar, and easy on the wallet, perfect after a long day in the sun when all you want to do is relax in your hotel room with a good meal. These beach-town Chinese joints can be hit or miss, but Golden China was a definite hit! In fact, my wife declared it her favorite Chinese restaurant in the entire country! Now, I'm not sure I'd go quite that far, maybe she was just really tired, but it was definitely impressive. We ordered the Beef and Broccoli, Singapore Noodles, Pork Chop Suey, and Crab Rangoon. Everything was fantastic. The Beef and Broccoli stood out for me, the beef was tender, and the sauce was seasoned perfectly. My wife couldn't stop talking about the Chop Suey and loved how loaded it was with fresh vegetables. The nice lady working the counter was also very friendly, striking up a conversation with me and my son when we picked up our order. It was a small gesture, but it made the experience even better. It was late at night on the last night of our vacay, and nobody felt like cooking. Thanks to Yelp, we found Golden China about 10 minutes away from our Airbnb. So I ordered via phone and headed over. The wait was LONG - over 40 minutes on a busy Saturday eve - but the portions were huge and the food was, well, classic Chinese takeout is the best way to describe it. It really hit the spot and the portions were massive! If you're staying near North Topsail Beach this is definitely a great spot for takeout. Just moved here from Jersey. I haven't had much Chinese food but this was the second one since the one near my home was closed. Went here and ordered and seemed like the dude knew what he was doing (Glasses, frat-boy looking dude). I waited for an hour just to get my food. When I asked, he rudely told me that other people called in prior to me. Mind you, they were taking orders via phone call as I just ordered mine. When I told him, I have been waiting for 1 hour, he said to keep waiting. He then looked at the food table and found my order sitting there for the past 30 mins. Proceeds to ask me what I ordered, I told him. Fried Chicken with fried rice, Boneless ribs and House Special Lo-Mein. He hands me the order and does not apologize for the wait. Cool. I get home to check the order and they put down the fried rice instead of house special lo-mein. 1 star due to customer service. read more

It's about time to update my first review. A few things have changed but not the great quality of the food. The daughters that once sat at a side table doing their homework have now grown up and work the front counter and phone. This means the ease of ordering has improved since they are both fluent in English and Chinese. I no longer feel compelled to place my order in person. One quick call and the order is placed. As for the food everything is fantastic. I will offer details on my most recent order. Hot & Sour Soup - thick and full of all the usual ingredients. If you don't like hot food you will want to avoid this item. The spice level is always Extra Hot. The soup noodles included were fresh, crisp and warm. Singapore Mei Fun - a nice mix of rice noodles, pork, beef, shrimp, onions, carrots, with a mild curry seasoning. Not too hot but very flavorful. Roast Pork Lo Mein - not just noodles but plenty of tender meat strips and vegetables. If you don't want meat I would recommend ordering vegetable Lo Mein. General Tso's Chicken - good size pieces of chicken with a little bit more breading than I'm accustom to. Some pieces were a little tough but most were tender. There were only a couple of pieces of broccoli for the entire order. The sauce was fantastic, not too spicy but not too mild. This dish comes with a side of white rice. This was my least favorite dish of the order but none of it went to waste. Mongolian Beef - lots of tender beef with green onions, white onions, and carrots. The sauce was perfectly seasoned. This was.my favorite dish of the order. This dish comes with a side of white rice. One of those unsuspecting, no frills places, but the food was good! I've been there twice, both good experiences with food taste and portions. So far I've had the sweet and sour chicken, chicken and snow peas, chicken lo mein, fried rice, and crab Rangoon. Loved the lo mein and Rangoon, especially. This place has excellent food. Prices are fare and the wait time is short. While there are a few tables it is not what I would consider as a dine-in restaurant. If you're here at the beach and thinking of taking the family out for dinner this is not the place. But if you're a renter with a large group and you're planning on bringing the food back I don't think you will be disappointed. The food is actually very good. I see a lot of bad reviews on the food, but I think it's better than most because it's pretty authentic. The service, however, could drastically improve. The person who answers the phone doesn't speak English well. I loved overseas for a while, so I can be patient with that. But, on top of it, she gets mad when she can't understand you or even more angry when you can't understand her. She's very rushed to get you off the phone and does not say thank you or even goodbye. I'll continue to order because it's convenient, quick, and tastes better than other Chinese restaurants in the area. But, you'll lose a lot of customers with that kind of service for sure. Just really hot egg drop soup and meaty ribs. I get both of those from Golden China. Never had a bad meal. My usual is a bone-in spare rib, but sometimes I'll get something outside of my comfort zone and it's always good. Egg rolls, fried chicken wings, beef with broccoli, egg foo wong, chow mein, low mein, steamed dishes, lunch/dinner specials, they're all good. The family is super nice and the kids are well-behaved. After reading several glowing reviews, I have a lot of questions... how? We came for early dinner around 4. The place was empty, not a big deal. We ordered orange chicken, general tso chicken, egg drop soup, and chicken wings. Sauce for orange and tso was fine, but the chicken was so overcooked it was difficult to chew. My jaw was killing me a few bites in. The rice and egg roll were edible but not good. The wings were so well done there was barely any edible meat. My daughter had no complaints about the egg drop soup. We got fountain drinks as we decided to eat in. They were out of everything except sprite and Mr. Pibb. Overall it was an epic waste of $50 read more

The one thing I noticed was that the young lady ensured our items were correct before handing us our to go order..When she seen something was amiss she immediately called back to the cook and had it corrected. I ordered the chicken and broccoli and it was pretty good. The restaurant has a few seats and tables to enjoy your food. However, it appears to be mostly a take out spot. Sadly, there's no delivery so you will have to pick up. We called in our order and just picked up for convenience. Overall, its your typical Chinese spot, nothing fancy but decent food that will hit that hunger spot. They do share the same parking area with Food Lion so parking is plentiful. read more

The first time the girl on the phone was extremely rude and the second time the guy who answered was both rude on the phone and even worse in person. Considering Sneads Ferry is such a small community, it is your go to for authentic Chinese food or at least really close to it! There's another Chinese joint here but comparing the two, I will choose Golden China. They have a ton of variety & I would say each of their dishes they make have adequate amount of protein.
