First, I need to strongly recommend Charter Fishing with Ryan Dolph on Emerald Isle - he is the reason we have gotten the best restaurant recommendations and the best fishing! Bamboo is delightful and delicious. My husband and I have been here twice now, and the sushi is scrumptious. I highly suggest any roll with avocado because if you are from the north like we are, you haven't tasted what good avocado can do for a sushi roll (ok, maybe you have, but it had just been too long for us). I am fondly of this restaurant for years. I saw tonight that they had new chefs at the sushi bar and they are not Asian anymore. So be it! They are still as great as the others that I remember. I've never had a bad meal at all here! I came around 5 and it wasn't busy.. I was a party of one and I got a cute single booth by the door by the window.. my waitress was so nice and never rushed me.. This is a very small restaurant offering an assortment of unauthentic fusion of Asian foods: Thai, Chinese, Japanese, etc. It's sort of an attempt at trying to do everything, but nothing well. I ordered the Pad Thai which was served practically as a soup bowl of peanut sauce, with a lump of soggy noodles. This appears to have been a southern white person's interpretation, no self respecting Asian person would have created that nor served it. At Emerald Isle for the winter and our PT person recommended Bamboo Asian House. We wanted Thai food and ordered Pad Thai with shrimp and Thai Curry with tofu for takeout. Both dishes were delicious. The shrimp in the Pad Thai were large and succulent. We usually prefer our tofu grilled but the curry was excellent. Friendly pickup service. We moved to Swansboro four years ago and went to this restaurant had the worst service ever and swore we would never go back. Food was horrible, but our neighbors were having a get together and this was the restaurant they chose. We went with a party of 19 our server was Jessica J and I have to say that this was the most amazing experience at a restaurant we've had in a long time. Service in our area has seemed to declined recently, but not here she handled all 19 of us with Grace. All of our orders were timely and accurate. She accommodated any special requests. My biggest regret was getting ramen here. All the pictures of the sushi at this place looks legendary! I was in the mood for something different so I ordered ramen (big mistake). To my disappointment, the broth didn't taste good and their boiled egg tasted strange to me. Their miso soup however, was very great for cold weather. I've seen other couples order a whole a sushi boat and I was so jealous. Definitely coming here again to try their sushi, but hard PASS on their ramen.
