I tried this place while on family vacation and was pleasantly surprised! You never know what will get from small town takeout places but they didn't disappoint. We ordered the general tso chicken, sesame chicken, shrimp egg foo young, egg rolls, and dumplings, which were all solid. The general tso being the best dish and the egg foo young was probably the worst only because of the gravy. It was thick and oddly sweet which not as expected. So I won't recommend the egg foo young nevertheless the service snd food was overall good especially for Emerald Isle. read more

The food was very good. The service was above and beyond excellent. The kitchen had made my meal incorrectly. The owner was very apologetic and immediately went to make it correct. Pretty good Chinese, would actually give a half more star if possible. Ordered pickup of orange beef, Kung bao delight and fried dumplings. The dumplings did not have dipping sauce that came with it (they may have forgotten to put in our bag), but surprisingly, it did NOT need any sauce....it was very moist and scrumptious on its own! The Kung bao was very well made. The orange beef sauce was very good, though the fried beef was just a little odd of a texture, but still good. The white rice was also a good grain...almost jasmine like. We have been looking for a good and quick Chinese place on the island and we are glad to find this one. read more

Best Chinese food I've had in years. I am from NYC and this restaurant is literally making better food than pretty much any place I've tried in NYC. The beef lo mein is excellent. Not too salty, but great umami flavor. The beef in it is so quality. All the meat we had was juicy and tender. Not over cooked or dry. The orange beef is fried, just heads up, but still delicious. General tsao's chicken is everything we were looking for in our order. Sweet and tangy. Also, the portions are a good amount, and you get a lot of bang for your buck. House fried rice has seafood in it, which enjoyed given were by the ocean. The Ma Po Tofu is a little peppery tasting, which we all really liked. I usually don't like Moo Shu pork, but this place had some really good stuff. It had a great meat to veggie ratio. I would not change a thing about this place. Although we got takeout, there is indoor seating and a nice ambiance. We have been coming to Emerald Isle for years, and this is the first time we've tried Great Wall. Chinese is definitely one of my favorite types of food to get for takeout. It's typically quick, easy and fairly cheap. It was really hard to get through to place an order however. It took me several tries to speak to someone to place my order and for my sister it took ten tries! I get that they are busy on a Saturday night but I almost didn't order from them cause I couldn't get through. Service aside the food was pretty good. It was the best Lo Mein I have had but still quite good. I would definitely recommend their egg rolls as they were very good! read more

I had take out the other night from this restaurant, Great Wall. I ordered Sesame Wonton appetizer. Very good with the exception of the sweet sauce. The sauce tasted like it came out of a bottle. For $7.99, this appetizer could have had a bit more creativity. I ordered Hot and Sour soup. This was the best Hot and Sour I have had in a long time. A bit on the sweet side but very good. Ordered a pint of Szechuan Pork Lo Mein. This was excellent along with the Roast Pork and Mushrooms that I also ordered. Spiciness wasn't overbearing. My ticket came to $39.87 but I have leftovers for a couple extra meals. Plus, prices were also par with the area of Emerald Isle. I drove 15 minutes each way, but I can say it was well worth it. I recommend this Chinese Restaurant over all other Asian restaurants in area. P.S. Fortune cookies are help yourself as is all condiments. Take out or eat in. read more

We were just at this restaurant for take out. Ordered Sesame Beef and pork fried rice. The beef was round balls of dough with tinny pieces of beef if you could call it that. It looks like they chopped up beef into tiny little pieces, mixed it with some kind of batter and then fried it! I have never seen anything like it. It was fried dough balls with tiny pieces of beef. We live in Emerald Isle and get takeout from here quite frequently. The food quality is consistently good, and the service is great too! Our favorite is the "Triple Delight" AKA "Triple Crown". Perfectly cooked large shrimp, fresh chicken, and tender beef along with a good assortment of veggies make it satisfying and delicious. Throw in a couple of egg rolls and it is plenty of dinner for my wife and me (and sometimes lunch the next days, but usually we just have seconds). Usually it takes like 10 minutes from when I call until it's ready, and even with a well-deserved tip it's barely 20 bucks. This fine establishment is right where it should be with other competition. A standard American Chinese takeout place, with all the expected American dishes on the menu and lacking the flavors of Chinese Chinese food. Useful for veggies when you need a break from the other beach restaurants, but definitely not worth going out of your way for. We had fried dumplings, which were the best thing we had. The Szechuan beef was sweet and flavorless, didn't bear any resemblance to Szechuan food apart from having a little bit of heat. The mushu pork was typical but subpar, lacking much flavor. The veggie dish we got was perfectly edible, but nothing special. The rice was good. Not recommended unless you are really bored with the other local options (there are not many for foodies). read more

This place is the best Chinese food within an hours drive, or maybe two hours. The wonton soup is fantastic. I've never been disappointed by any of the low mein. I usually get the sesame chicken and it usually is still crispy and delightfully sauced.
