My daughters absolutely love it here! We've been part of the Golden City family for just over three years, and I continue to be blown away by how much they've grown and excelled in gymnastics. I give so much credit and gratitude to the incredible coaching staff. Every coach my daughters have worked with is not only highly trained and experienced, but also genuinely invested in each gymnast's progress, confidence, and overall well-being. They strike the perfect balance between discipline and encouragement--pushing athletes to reach their full potential while keeping the experience fun, empowering, and most importantly, SAFE. You can truly see the difference in the way these coaches break down techniques, correct form with patience, and celebrate every milestone, big or small. They know exactly how to bring out the best in each child, no matter their level or starting point. One of the things I appreciate most is how strongly Golden City promotes good sportsmanship and true camaraderie among their competitive teams. The culture here teaches athletes to lift each other up, celebrate each other's wins, and support one another through challenges. Not a good experience for our family. I signed my daughter up after moving states, in our previous state she had been doing preteam, and when we got here she was put in beginner after attending summer camp where I was told she would be evaluated for classes. After her first class in beginner level, she was moved up. Guess she wasn't actually evaluated in summer camp like they said.... As she continued to move up I noticed bad attitudes from the coaches like they couldn't be bothered. After a few months we withdrew and went elsewhere. read more

I'm not sure why so many negative comments but I do see they are old. Maybe management change since then, i'm not sure. All I know is my granddaughter has been going here for a year and she loves it and we've never had a problem. Staff has always been super friendly and the owner walks around and talks to everyone.​ My Only complaint is that it is not close to my house, but that is not their problem. read more

This is a first class gymnastics training facility, especially for a neighborhood environment. Classes are divided by age and ability, and they are so popular that there can be a waiting list to get into a certain group. The ratio of students to teachers is very reasonable. I've seen as few as 3 in a group, though I would guess that was partially due to some no shows. My 7 yo has advanced very quickly and a typical hour session consists of floor routines, balance beam, trampoline, rings, parallel bars, rope climbing, etc. For a little thing she does amazing cartwheels and I don't think it will be too long before she is doing more advanced moves. You can see some of the older groups in the back of the gym doing complex floor routines that look like they are preparing for serious competitions. Everyone of the staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a little shop for buying outfits, though the selections are small, and the prices are a bit high. We ended up buying her outfits online, and if you need some suggestions drop me a line. There is a large private parking lot with entrances off of Lumsden and another off of Lithia Pinecrest. They do have a summer camp program as well, though I have not looked into the details. read more

This is by far the worst gym. They are greedy, and don't care for their gymnasts or their families. During this pandemic, they continue to charge their families their full tuition despite being closed. They offer 30 minute zoom sessions in exchange for 8-20 hours of training. Giving one star to this facility, and its staff, is overly generous! I agree with the reviews of Billy and Rebecca. Rude staff who "yell" at children. (Is that a nurturing environment?) Another review site mentioned that the bathrooms were "FOUL". I should have paid attention to that concerned parent. Hillsborough County health inspectors need to make a surprise visit. (When I see comments like that, I start to worry about MRSA and other antibiotic resistant skin infections?) There are many more reasonably priced, and family friendly, facilities Moms and Dads, do your due diligence! read more

Attempted to get my daughter signed up again since this is the closet location to my house, and front desk was extremely rude. Very short, cold responses. My daughter attended this gym a few years ago for about 4 months and was never able to graduate to an advanced class. My daughter is extremely athletic, so it was surprising and frustrating. I chose to sign her up at another gym 40 minutes away from my house in Lithia called Titanium, staff there was very friendly, accommodating, and classes are smaller, so more 1 on 1 time. This is week 1 and they immediately put her in advanced gymnastics and intermediate advanced tumbling at Titanium. So something didn't seem right at Golden City. I suggest you look around before signing your child up at this gym. read more

I'm curious here - how is appropriate to charge my family for gymnastics classes when my daughter hasn't been to a class since 1st week in March? Charging customers during a Global Pandemic is ridiculous and your business should be embarrassed. Then stating that the monthly fees are to ensure your "spot" is guaranteed and that if you cancel, you'll have to pay the enrollment fee again "if" you get your spot back? How has this been approved as a standard business practice by Golden City Gymnastics? I don't want to hear how you can discount my future monthly fees once you reopen either as you have no idea when that will be. If this persists to October, we'll have paid $600 for nothing..... Is this simply a way to keep the ownership maintaining their current lifestyle? read more

Would leave no stars if possible. Very very rude front desk staff. My 4 year old daughter had a different coach each week. I think at that age kids tend to thrive when they can look forward to the seeing the same coach or teacher each week. The main guy owner is very nice .......the bathrooms are really dirty and again front desk lady is so rude and belittled me. I cancelled my daughter's classes and they currently are continuing to charge me for her cancelled classes. We will never EVER go back here. Expensive too and no make ups. Not worth it. read more

I give 0 stars based on my experience with the owner and the 5 years we attended classes but the system makes you give at least one star. I attended Golden City for 5 years with my oldest daughter and almost 2 years with my youngest daughter. I have brought multiple families in their doors since starting back in October 2016. I met the owner for the first time this past weekend and she approached me with an attitude while I was just standing and watching my 2 going on 3 year old first class in the big kids class all by herself. Before this past weekend we were in the mommy and me class but this was the second time they requested her to move up to the big girl class with only students and instructors. I was very excited and was correcting my daughter and telling her to listen to the teacher when the Owner (I had never spoken with her nor been approached by her after all the years of attending every weekend except holidays and during COVID which we never withdrew) tells me to go sit down in a very rude and raised voice. When I asked her who she was speaking to she yelled to me, " Go sit down now!" I had no clue who she even was. I had to ask her if she worked their and I had been attending the gym for mommy and me classes since October 2016. She then informed she was the owner. I explained everything to her about my child just moving up to the class and that I had just gotten back from getting my kids breakfast. Part of our regular routine. She then begin to question that my child had been in attendance for 5 years and I explained to her as the owner she should be aware of her clientele especially people who have been attending with no breaks since 2016. She then made a rude comment and I told her we shouldn't speak for the rest of the time I am here because the conversation was going nowhere positive quick. She then told me I needed to go to the front office and leave. I assumed she meant without my children so I told her no. I was not going to interrupt my children in the middle of class because she was upset when she initiated our entire conversation. I was minding my own business not speaking to any parents and only focusing on my children in their classes that were next to each other. When I wouldn't leave she sent the white receptionist who is my friend to come tell me I needed to leave. I told her very quietly as to not cause a scene that I would leave once class was over since I had already paid tuition for the month. There was only 15 minutes left in the class. Then following that scene she sent the black receptionist to escort me out as if she would be able to get me to remove my children from class. I felt very degraded and like I had done something wrong by correcting my own child in class. After the class ended the coach came up to me and told me how good my daughter did and congratulated me on her moving up to her class not knowing that the owner had just removed her. I hate to say it but based off of her never having any experiences with me and not knowing me it makes me feel that I was judged off of my ethnicity/appearance as their was no other differences between the owner and myself for her to just feel it was okay to initiate a conversation with such disgust in her voice while having her voice raised at the same time. Since we had never met before this is the only conclusion I am able to come up with. She has no concern for the children that have been attending her gym for most of their lives. This is the only gymnastics program my kids have ever known! Now they are unable to attend gymnastics for we don't know how long since their is so many wait lists for other programs. My goal for my children is to attend the Olympics as an athlete in the future and the staff knew that. Just not the owner. The gym has not been able to hold coaches longer than a few months before COVID and now I believe I know why. The owner doesn't make it a comfortable nor positive situation. Her behavior on Saturday shows she likes to abuse her power and authority. The worst part is instead of coming to me and explaining that it's against policy to stand at the gate and correct your own child she decided to speak down to me and never explain the proper procedure. She not once spoke to me in a polite manner from the time she initiated the conversation. I am disgusted and disheartened at how myself and my daughters were treated especially after over 5 years of loyalty and through the pandemic when as a single parent money has hit an all new low but I stood by Golden City to support them. Unfortunately the owner doesn't believe in supporting my children or speaking to people in an appropriate manner. read more

Lady in the front office is rude and shouldn't deal with the public. Never had anyone speak to me that way when bringing up and issue. All of the coaches have been awesome this far. I guess when the owners aren't around the front desk staff think they am an speak to people in a condescending manner. Such a shame to have someone like that represent your company ! read more

The facility itself is wonderful and the coaches for the girls are amazing!!!! The boys coach on the other hand is the owner, Sean, who should not be working with children!!! He has no patience with them, yells at them, tells them they're waisting his time, rolls his eyes and I've even seen him tell a child to go home when they make a mistake. This is with a beginner class!!! He's very mean and my boy, although he loved gymnastics, begged not to go any more!! Very sad!!! read more

I agree with the above review. The owner, Sean does not treat the children well. His overall M.O. is cranky, impatient, and stressed out. My son LOVES gymnastics and does not want to go back. We will be going to another gym. The other teachers are wonderful however. If the owner stepped down from teaching, we would consider staying. read more

My daughter went for the first time today. She was extremely excited and left in tears. She has now been crying for over 30 minutes. She was humiliated by one of the coaches, a young Afro American girl that apparently hasn't been there long. My daughter was running where they were doing flips. She was never told of the rules. I don't mind her being reprimanded, but for one my daughter was not the only one running, she only ask for my daughter to come to her. I'm outside standing by the restroom and I could hear her scolding and yelling at my child in front of everyone. There is a way to speak to children and humiliating them and single them out is not the way. I spoke to Shawn (person in charge) and he was nice but it was a more of "whatever" attitude. My Daughter said to never take her there because they treated badly, coming from a 7 year old that is really bad. WORST EXPERIENCE of her life! I had to contain myself from walking inside the where they work out and set this rude, uneducated, bully of coach in her place! read more

We looked at three other gyms before deciding on Golden City. That was three years ago and we are very happy with our choice.
