We drove up at 12 noon and i thought why didn't we get here earlier! Parking was not bad, lucked up with someone pulling out. There was a line out the door but things went quickly. It was wall to wall people but not uncomfortable. They had plenty of people working so there was very little wait to get carved turkey etc and so the food was fresh and good. They have a very good variety of food but today on April 13, 2025 we went in there and it was a lot of people so we just got to go play the hostess in. There was so rude and disrespectful. She never gave us a bag to put our food and never gave us utensils and she told us just to get the food and put it on a measurement which we did but we were asking other employees for help and they wouldn't even help us either so They don't have friendly hospitable employees. I've given this restaurant a couple of chances and every time I leave I feel like I've loaded my body with chemicals. I don't know what they put in their food but it doesn't seem natural. Service was okay. Though the real deal breaker was the terrible food. There was mold, rats, and gnats spread around the restaurant. Lemonade tasted funny and lots of the food was old as if they placed it there when lunch first started and never changed it out. The setting was okay at best. Overall 3/10, waste of $43. There is a wide variety of food choices available, from salads and vegetables to meats. The service is good and responsive. It is a little noisy, but no more so than most eateries and restaurants today. Even fine-dining restaurants have gotten noisy. The senior special at $9.49, including a drink, is a bargain. That special runs Monday through Friday between 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Outside those hours, the regular price reverts to around $19.99, including tax. We have been loyal customers for nearly 10 years. My wife eats lunch once a month there, and we eat @ East Asia about 10x a year. The buffet prices have gotten extremely high, and unless you get there when the food is put out at lunch - the food has been out for ages. At our last visit, my wife got a buffet while my child and I waited to order. We waited forever to order- and we had to flag down a waitress to order. My wife barely got 2 plates of food. My child ate 1 piece of watermelon, 1 crab ragoon, and 1 piece of sushi from my wife's plate while we waited for our food order. We each had a sizable order. My wife ate one of my pieces of chicken, and I ate one of her coconut shrimp from her plate. They watched us the whole time we ate. At checkout, I was charged for a full kid's Buffet and her sesame chicken @ 10.95. Two ladies muttered to theirselves while we were eating, and at checkout we were charged $24.00 for a child to eat (for her entree and for a full child's Buffett). We were never addressed just talked about- they put the black girl up to addressing it at checkout and ran and hid. We told them we waited and waited to order and had to flag someone down to order from the kitchen- they refused and said bc she had 2 crab Rangoon's from my wife's plate- we would be charged for a full 2nd buffet. Thanksgiving Day 2022 went here to put together order to go my husband is in hospital. Wanted good as close to home cooked we could get. I got us Baked Ham, Turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, cornbread bread stuffing, sweet potato casserole with marshmallows on top, dinner rolls. The food was excellent. I got us 1 slice Pecan Pie, 1 slice Apple Pie and & 1 slice Carrot Cake. The desserts were yummy. They were very very busy they kept the buffet filled. I love giving 5 star reviews. Not here. Not now. Passing through Alexandria on Thanksgiving with very few options we happened into the Golden Corral. $17.99 each with water to drink. The experience starts when you go to get a plate and have to sort through several of them before finding one that even looks clean. Started with the salad bar which was actually pretty good. More on that later. On the other line, it just seemed like everything must have been sitting out there all day. Many of the sides were skimmed over like they had not even been stirred in a long time. Nothing tasted any good at all, but it looked delicious. I got some fish, fried chicken, grilled chicken legs, green beans, cornbread dressing and I don't remember what else. Tried it all and just couldn't eat any of it. Put my plate aside and the hostess asked me if it looked good. I just smiled and said, yes, it looks good, and just left it at that. Returned to the salad bar and got another salad with blue cheese dressing. The needle on the quantity/quality gauge in this place is stuck on quantity. We left the Corral and arrived at our destination a couple of hours later, where I released a lot of my meal into the porcelain bowl, and confirmed visually that it was at least some of my salad. At least it didn't come out the way it went in, as my GI tract was in emergency bypass mode. The rest made its way out first thing the next morning. My advice: Just Don't Do It. Even a burrito in a bag from a C-store would have been better and a lot cheaper -- and that was probably our only other option that night. read more

I generally don't go to these kind of establishments but I was very hungry, since I really hadn't eaten enough for breakfast (yogurt and bananas). I got in line, paid $15 which is the lunch buffet and a drink, and went to look at the offerings. There was quite a lot of stuff of every sort, but I proceeded to get pot roast beef with white rice and potatoes. The beef was tender, juicy, and the rice and potatoes were well cooked. Then I went to look for some kind of fish that wasn't fried, because I need to keep my cholesterol down, so I found broiled fish that was a bit spicy and ate that with dirty rice, a sweet potato, and ended my meal by eating carrot cake without frosting and banana pudding. The server was top notch, and the food was better than last time. The place was very clean considering the large number of people there. My suggestion is to add a few more healthier items for those of us who don't want to eat fried or greasy. Thanks a lot. read more

Cashier invariably slow and not very hospitable. Much of the food not at optimum temperature and beef dishes are always tougher (unchewable) than normal. Servers attending tables are always hard working and friendly and unfortunately are many times stiffed on gratuity (I have at times given my server a $10 or $20 additional tip). Comfort food, meatloaf, sausage w/ peppers & onions, mashed potatoes, corn, baked potato, pizzas, cabbage, string beans, etc.. the salad bar and dessert bar are great! Utensils, glasses and cups on entry have to be carefully inspected for dried on food. Except for individually made omelettes most of the breakfast foods are not warm unless you're lucky enough to to have it being placed on buffet while you're there. My experience has been much, much better at other Golden Corrals in several states. I am a Golden Corral fan. This by far is the worst Golden Corral that I have ever dined. I do not have very high expectations when it comes to buffet style food especially Golden Corral, but everything was below poor. The rolls were hard. I believe they were baking them frozen. The food lacked a lot of seasoning. I would think being in Louisiana home of creole food and spices I would have experience something a little more than what I did. The staff was friendly and attentive, that is probably the only reason or the only thing that made the experience not a one star. I visited Golden Corral yesterday morning around 9am. I had been anticipating the experience that I would have because I fell in love with a Golden Corral in Shreveport. Much to my dismay, I was seriously disappointed! Coming in the front door, I picked through maybe ten glasses that had food or bits of something stuck in or on them. My husband finally grabbed one and put it on my tray! On to the soda machine - The part where you place your glass to get your drink of choice? All of them had sticky residue like they hadn't been wiped down in a couple of days. From that point, you pay for your meal - I wasn't impressed with the cashier. We were not greeted when we came through the door, nor did we receive a greeting when my husband paid for our breakfast. The seating area was clean, chairs and tabletops looked freshly wiped down. At this point, I was thinking 'yay! This may not be a disappointment after all!' But! On to the food - the only fresh item was the omelette made by a very friendly, outgoing gentleman. The other items, however, were a disappointment. The grits were cold - and I stirred from the bottom in an attempt to get really hot grits. The hash browns - yuck - maybe a large spoonful left in the pan - were sitting - no, floating in oil. The French toast was so cold that even cutting with a knife required sawing the bread. By now I'm sure you get the point. The food was not fresh at all. The pans that were out should have been replaced with fresh pans of hot food. I would venture to say if a health inspector took temps of the food just about everything would be pulled from the buffet line. All in all, I paid nine bucks for coffee and an omelet. Oh! And the plates and silverware?? We had to go through several before we could find a couple that appeared clean. I guess at this point, I should have requested a refund and walked right back out. I certainly could kick my own butt for not doing that. While the food was a huge disappointment, the server - Dana - was very friendly and held brief conversation with every single person walking through the door. She was the only server working on the side that I was on and she was moving quickly like she was on one of those hover boards. I doubt that I will ever set foot in this restaurant again. Wife and I stopped in to grabe some food. The quality and taste of the food was good. I've been to quite a few of these chains, this one is better than some, but not as good as others. The main issues in this one are cleanliness and aggressive staff. The waitress we had was friendly, but didn't have the balance between being attentive and being disruptive to our meal. The carpet needs cleaned and the buffet line needs wiped down more often. The upside is that as far as the food goes I feel that you get better than what you pay for. I am happy to report that the plates seem to have been replaced with newer ones. Either that or I found all the non-discolored and gouged plates on the top of the stacks of dishes. I'm hopeful it is the former! What follows is my prior review: I am a frequent customer of The Golden Corral Buffet, and am so because the food is generally good and the price is fair. However, there comes a time when the dishes offered for use must be reviewed and a determination be made as to whether the plate is still fit for use. The Alexandria Golden Corral Buffet's plates appear to be made of melamine, a type of reusable plastic. Over time deep cuts are made in this material, especially since people are cutting steaks and other foods that require sharp, serrated knives. These deep, thin groves trap food and quickly became discolored. I often see customers trying to find a plate that is clean and in doing so are handling rejected plates. Now, not only are the plates discolored from embedded food, but they are also touched by hoards of other people. I have repeatedly witnessed servers take plates that are stacked as rejects and return them to the plates offered for use. I cannot help but to think this is unsanitary, especially as you see some of these same people licking their fingers before selecting their plates. As for the servers, they are quick to remove used plates from tables and offer refills of drinks. Friendliness is never in short supply, and they are quick to offer any assistance, if needed. The food is good home style fare. Differing cooks cook and season the food as they see fit, but there is a degree of consistency, and improperly prepared food can always Portion size and choice is not an issue, of course. So, you may ask why I dine here frequently. The answer is that my elderly parents choose this place because they can view the food and select what they want, discard what is improperly prepared, and make another selection. My father likes a plate of meat while my mother will select fruits and salads. It has everything to do with choice and plate composition. The place was fairly busy, so you can't say it was bad because no one was there and the food wasn't getting turned over. The scrambled eggs were brown on the bottom...yuck! There were only bacon crumbs when we went through the line the first time. When we went back, there was the exact same amount and this was 45 minutes before the breakfast buffet ended. Overall the food was gross. We go to a Golden Corral every time we visit my in-laws in Arkansas. It is WAY better. Don't know what the deal is with this one. I've had a few meals to go from Golden Corral Alexandria and thought everything was spot on! I enjoyed the hospitable staff, l was greeted as soon as I walked in by the cashier who was smiling and just very helpful and cheery attitude. The food was out of sight! I'm not the biggest fan of buffet dining but the variety and quality of food there is top notch.
