We ate there a week ago. I was surprised that they still follow the older format. BUT, the food was actually pretty good. The steak was, I suppose, as good as you might expect. At least it wasn't steamed like at so many Golden Corrals. It might have won a few ribbons at the racetrack as it was quite an effort to chew. The rest of the food was good, because they seemed to have a well-staffed kitchen area keeping up with demand. The ambiance is pretty much the same as other Golden Corral restaurants. It's very popular with the seniors. If you want good steak and ribs that aren't overcooked and dry, you'd best go somewhere that specializes. Waking up at 5 AM, this golden corral was a godsend. I got hungry around 10 AM, and when I found out that golden corral open right at the same time, I would be aligned right over to the exit. It's only about a 10 minute drive off of the road that I was on and I was in and out, so happy and full, in 30 minutes. The salad was quite refreshing with many options of dressings, there was breakfast which included bacon and sausage, for lunch and during lunch. I didn't get to try the desert area much, but there were options for everyone like cookies or cake, gelatin, and a chocolate fondue fountain, which I thought was pretty classy for a buffet. I didn't get the steak because that is only during dinner. I did, however, have taco meat, pot roast, two types of fish and chicken, and it lasted me all day. My kids and I read horrible reviews regarding this restaurant before deciding to eat here anywhere while traveling back to Indiana. We were very pleasantly surprised. The food was great and the service was even better. Our waitress was so sweet and we never had an empty cup or dirty plate in front of us! The manager made personal rounds making sure everyone was well taken care of. The only reason I did not give a 5 star review was that they were without baked fish the 3 times I attempted to get a piece. Saturday evening about 5:30 I brought my Boy Scout troop of 16 hungry souls. The cashier was extremely helpful. (tall thin young gentleman). He went to get management to assist us in putting our group together in one location. After we paid, the manager escorted us to our table. He was extremely nice and offered if we needed anything just to ask him. He traded us off with our server who was also very nice. She was right on top of getting our silverware and drinks. The food was very good compared to other Golden Corrals we've been to. Since we travel a lot with our troop, we see a lot of Golden Corrals. This one seemed cleaner and the food was replenished quite well. Everything was crispy (that's supposed to be) and cooked well. The only thing I would suggest for an improvement is the restroom. The stall doors and frame looked like they were from an inner city downtown Chicago establishment. To swap that door system out should not be that expensive nor take but a few hours. You could make the restrooms look brand new in no time. The floors needed a good power washing as well. The doors were relatively clean, just worn out. A restaurant restroom shouldn't look like an old gas station. Food Network has taught us that the cleanliness of the restroom represents the cleanliness of the kitchen. We visit the restrooms first before we eat in some establishments. We've been in some that we walked out immediately. Yours was clean, but dated and worn out. All in all, everyone was pleased with the food, no one went away hungry. One of our parents said it was the best steak that he's had at Golden Corral. The desserts were wonderful. Visited this restaurant on the 4th of July 2023. I do not know their discounts or pricing structure. I checked out and thought the bill was high,however with it being the holiday let it slide. I got to my table no waitress so i had to get my own silverware no biggie. I went and got my salad which was very good and fresh. I for whatever reason I glanced at my bill. The manager rang me out and had charged me for a 2 topping pizza. I did not even know how she could have done that. The manager had then went back to behind where they serve the food. I went to register and the new cashier proceeded to hunt down the manager. I followed she located manager. The manager looked at receipt and said she must have pushed the wrong button. The manager refunded price of 2 topping pizza,which turned out to be a lot. The manager never apologized or anything. She replied here ya go and handed me the refund. I said I don't get a apology. I went there to see if things have changed from my last visit and it had change just not for the better. I went with family around 7:00p.m. we did get our drinks fairly fast and that was about it. The place was not busy for a Thursday night. So the 6 feet rule was no problem. My wife complained that the food was cold off of the hot food and the waitress did not even say a word. The steak I wanted was suppose to be medium and it was what I considered well done. The piece of meat was barely warm at best. I never got a refill on my beverage. When it came to the help refilling the trays of hot food even that was not done they just ignored that it needed a refill. I lived in Colorado for 2 years and the one there in Greeley was horrific. So when we moved here to Lima we decided to give it a go here. I was SHOCKED! It was like going home. I've never had such a bad experience as I did last night. I took my grandaughter out to eat and spend some quality time. When we got to Golden Corral it was pretty packed which is great for them we ended up having to sit way down by the rest rooms where they fill your drinks and such. Well guess one of the wait staff was not having a very good day in which she went on to complain very loudly saying some words that should not have been say with small children listening. I then started to complain a very nice person from the wait staff over heard me tell my grand daughter that we would never seat in that spot again he then asked me what the problem was I told him he asked what I heard I then told him we now know that this lady was being sent home early for being on drugs and that we had heard the F word several times loudly and the word bitch often he said thank you went got someone in charge that person came got the wait staff person and made her leave. I have been to this location for several years now. Mom was having a birthday so I planned to host it there as she wanted. Called to reserve space for about 40 of our family to eat. Manager said 4 pm wasn't possible but she could do 3:30 so we agreed. Got there by 3:15 and was told the party using the area set aside was finishing up. Were told to stand in the line at the cash register until we could be seated. As our group all came in a big line was beginning to form along with some poor people not in our party but got stuck in our wait. I tried to help them go to the other cashier as the manager in charge didn't seem to have a clue what was happening. Well 3:40 came so I approached the manager who informed me his book said we'd be here between 3:30 and 4 and walked away. I followed him and told him I was told 3:30 or it couldn't happen. So he walks away again without a word and goes into the area and told the group there something but not sure what. Then we were told we could go on in. Gee the looks we got from the other party ! Very uncomfortable. One server was clearing the numerous tables as we waited. Got sat down and all went ok after that. One server for 40 of us the poor girl was run ragged. Gave her a good tip of course. I had asked if we had a time limit but didn't get a response. About 5:30 another group of people started being seated in our sectioned off area so I figured they had use of the area next. No one said a word to us. We quickly finished up and left. I won't use this service again for a party gathering. Lack of communication from management. It was just too crowded and noisy also. The service was free so that was a bonus. No discount on the buffet. The food didn't seem as good quality as it once was also. NOPE, and unfortunately for Drew (the Owner), whom we informed of our concerns,. we were again treated with disdain by the Manager, Contessa. Send her back to Ft. Wayne, or send her packing her attitude someplace else (since you think she is so valuable to your organization). The buffet was not maintained; not only trays that never were re- filled, at 4:40 PM; the gravy (evidently was left over from the breakfast, had a hardened skim across the tray) most unappetizing! When one of our group requested fish be refilled, our request was ignored. At no time during our entire meal did fish re-appear....and this was during LENT. A necessary visit to the restroom was truly shocking. Restrooms in run-down gasoline stations in Mississippi rivaled this one for disgust. We had been patrons for years; frequently in a group of 5 or more; week after week; but we are through with this site. At our previous visit we were "invited by a Staff member" to take our $$ and presence "someplace else"......well, Drew: we are doing just that! My family and I want to Golden Corral last Friday for dinner which around 5 and 6 pm. of the week they reopen. we went to a table to sit down and we had a table behind us and people sat down after we sat down and the table was not six feet away. we never had a server to come to our table and introduce them to us. the bourbon chicken was to spicy compare to the way it was before they shut down due to covid. there was no small pieces of chicken for kids. the meat loaf and pulled pork was over cooked and dried. there was not much good selection of food. my glass was empty when i got done with my first trip to the buffet. i was about done eating with my second trip to the buffet by the time some one came around and just asked me if i needed a refill. when i went to the dessert bar. the only ice cream that they had in the machine was vanilla ice cream. there was no nuts no chocolate chip cookies. i told the lady behind the counter of the dessert bar about no chocolate ice cream in the machine she did not say a word. all i seen her do is wipe the counter and move stuff around. it felt like i was being ignored. and if we had a server they just came to our table to remove dirty plates and refill my glass once and never introduce to us they got lucky that they got two dollar tip from us i was not going to leave nothing at all.
