Something doesn't taste the way you expected - no problem, stop eating that and go try something else. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The mango lime fruit drink is delicious. We went on a busy Sunday at noon and walked right in to start eating. At first I was worried due to an ambulance wheeling away an elderly person as we walked in. Went there at 10:50AM for breakfast. Cashier was slow, then charged us for dinner saying it was 11:01AM. They gave us the wrong drink, no refills were given, and they didn't give us any silverware. We have always had good food and service at all their locations, but yesterday's Thanksgiving lunch was a huge disappointment. After waiting in line in the freezing cold for over an hour and a half, we had to wait in line again to load our plates, only to find there was no turkey or green bean casserole ready. The dressing was raw and had way too much celery in it. No cheesecake on the dessert buffet and the only pie was pecan. They bust their butts to feed a gazillion people, but if everyone was as disappointed as I was, we'll all be doing our own cooking next year instead of getting the day off. Recently placed an online order for pick up at this GC in Lubbock. The food was pretty good. The fried fish was cooked nicely. To Go Fries is not their specialty, to be fair. Black eyed peas were delicious as always & the bread (yeast rolls) were still warm & tasted fresh. The one deleted star was for the online ordering process. The parking lot is a mess. No drive thru, or special pick-up line, so you have to go inside & cut through people in line to get to the front- nobody appreciates that. My order had not been "picked up", So I had to wait for it to be packaged for me, which should be a quick process, as the food is already pre prepared..... But I waited for over 10 minutes. Wow. Where to start on this? I guess first off, I'm very disappointed that Yelp won't let me post negative stars. One star is way to generous. This particular Golden Corral is a embarrassment and a disgrace to ALL the other Golden Corrals I've been to (I'm a regular customer and go to MANY). Not sure if this location is privately owned and not a part of the general chain? In any case ..here are some details. I was weary and starving as I drove from Colorado Springs back to the San Antonio area..was happy to find a Golden Corral to "gorge" myself after driving 8 hours straight. Upon entering and paying, my first clue of what was to come was the filthiness. The floors were dirty, the food areas were as well. But I was hungry ..so tried to ignore that aspect. Went to get my usual pasta with red sauce and cheese pizza . Instead I encountered pasta with ham in it! And pepperoni pizza . "Oh well" I said to myself ..I guess I'll go get some chicken tacos. They had no flour tortillas..only broken crispy corn ones that would disintegrate once you put them on plate. And no chicken..just ground beef. After nixing that idea, I decided to just eat vegetables and salad. Went to get some sautéed mushrooms and only was broth..no mushrooms ..I looked at the cook making the steaks in sadness and he gave me a dirty look and just went about his business. At that point I just decided to ask for a refund. Drum roll please?! Out comes the manager ..I am NOT prejudiced on a persons looks but only mention this because of the response I got when she asked me why I wanted a refund ? Out comes a overweight tatted up woman who a blind person could see doesn't care one iota about a healthy diet. I told her I couldn't find any healthy choices there other than salad and vegetables. She replied .."we have LOTS of healthy hot food choices. ..we even have ham" HAM?? That's healthy I asked ? She replies "yes it is, it contains protein " Just moronic response ..and ignorant too. When I go to Golden Corral I am NOT expecting "Whole Foods"..I'm a realist . But EVERY other Golden Corral I've been to ALWAYS offers healthy alternatives..this location was a anomaly, and the manager and her response cemented this. I drove down the street and instead ate at another restaurant chain...Chuys ..and it was great and most importantly THE SAME as any other Chuys I've been to. I would not recommend this Golden Corral to anyone except people who don't care one bit about what they eat. Total disaster of a good brand ..if anyone in management of this chain reads this..please correct for the next healthy minded customer who might wander in. I received numerous emails inviting me to join the rewards program, so eventually I did. They sent a coupon for my birthday, offering buy one buffet, get one free. It expired ON my birthday, and I was eager to use it, but had the flu. I am elderly and disabled, and money IS an issue. I asked 2 friends to go with me, and I was paying. The coupon had expired, but I felt surely it would be honored, but I was wrong. The cashier went in back, supposedly to ask, and came back and said NO. Well Happy Birthday to me. Then he charged $2.89 each for 3 drinks. Considering tea costs pennies to make and sell, WHY aren't drinks included in the $12.99 lunch price? The line had a pan of dried up scrambled eggs, left from breakfast, in between spaghetti and pizza. The fried chicken and catfish was good, but the meatloaf was inedible, and the mac and cheese was nasty. There was 1 entire line of pans left empty entirely. The location was recently remodeled, but new dinnerware and a paint job don't make a restaurant successful. I do NOT appreciate being refused my birthday dinner, regardless of date, especially when I brought 2 other people to eat there too. I am on social security, and was charged $50.16 today for me and my 2 friends. Thanks alot Golden Corral, for nothing. Don't judge me for reviewing this place. I have sort of a soft spot for Golden Corral, my dad loves it. Probably something about not having enough to eat growing up, coming to the states, and being able to eat all you want at a place with all sorts of different food about under 10 bucks. To me, Golden Corral sounds like a heaven for cows. Animal cows, not large people. A large ranch surrounded by a glistening fence made of the precious metal...no? Maybe just me. I think BFF and I are developing a tradition here, b/c we ate here at GC with his dad the last time I came to LBK, and here we are again. Like all GC's this one offers all sorts of hot foods from pizza, grilled steaks, fried chicken, a taco bar, salad bar, soups, fruit bar, desserts, fish, all sorts of veggies, whew! The list goes on. I think there are more desserts here than I've seen at other GCs. I guess Lubbock people have got a sweet tooth. With so many kids running a muck, it's hard to keep the food areas clean and the serving utensils nonsticky. They did alright keeping up here though. GC seriously has some of the best banana pudding ever. I'm not sure what it is, but it's awesome, whichever one you go to. We also had a 2 year old with us, it was amazing putting a little bit of everything on her plate and letting her pick at what she wanted instead of ordering and just hoping for the best. Haven't been here in 3 years. Went tonight food was pretty good. Not fantastic like it was when I was a kid. The other issues is I found several dirty plays that were not thoroughly washed yet they got set out on clean plates effectively cross contaminating the clean ones. They really need to get a new dishwasher as I found 10+ dirty plates touching the clean ones. Never seen that many dirty plates claimed as clean. So whoever is setting the plates out is obviously not inspecting them before setting them out. Sounds like they need some re-training on cross contamination and food safety/health. I did like the fact the restaurant supplies gloves to wear when touching the high touch serving hardware. We definitely utilized those. The red velvet cake was dry however. Hopefully the manager takes notice of these review and fixes the dish washing issue. After we ate there I came here and noticed the dirty plates seemed to be a common complaint going back 2+ years. This is something the manager should fix ASAP before someone gets sick and sues them. read more

Let's be real here, we have only found one good Golden Corral so far and it was a brand new one in Aurora, CO. We loved it and went a lot so of course when we moved here and my son saw the sign we had to take him, much to our chagrin! It was exactly as we expected. We had to move tables three times to find a clean one, there was food everywhere on the floor, it was noisy, crowded, and quite frankly the definition of eating in hell. It was an awful experience and we have since had to lie to our son that it closed forever so we don't have to take him back! Monday July 30th, 2018 I took my friend there. It had been our favorite & only place to eat for 2 years. They have 17 year old baby sensitive kids working for them Lubbock, Tx. I'm giving one star because I didn't have the option of giving zero stars. I don't know where to start, first of all, the table was nasty and the waitress wiped it with an even nastier cloth. The roasted chicken was extremely salty, to the point that it was not eatable, the beef was sooo dry, I ended up eating salad which also looked bad, just because I was starving and it was the only open place in town that day, it was a holiday. And they charged me $19 for this garbage, waaay overpriced. Now I would come to the worst part: the waitress came to me while I was eating and demanded that I show her the receipt, I told her you are interrupting my meal, and she said that's our policy, so I had to stop eating, clean my hands, and start looking for the receipt in my pockets. Our first and last time to eat at Golden Corral in Lubbock was a real disappointment. The food was not visually appealing. The chicken was tough, the ham was dry, and several of the beef dishes were really greasy. The restaurant was not clean and had us second guessing our restaurant choice when the carpet was sticky near our table and the high chair was covered in the food from the last child. Our server was polite and came by often to check on us and is the only reason I gave this review two stars instead of one. This is a very busy restaurant. I showed up on a Saturday around 2:30pm and the place was packed. The lines for the buffet circulated fairly quickly...except the times when parents wanted their kid to eat icky brussel sprouts and a brief discussion as to why dessert would be a much better choice started. Personally, I sided with the children on this one. This location runs dinner all day on Saturday; excellent for anyone looking for the grilled steak. And they don't give out little tiny portions. This is Texas where you're always offered at least an 8-ounce steak and it's your choice to get a smaller piece. The staff is really friendly and helpful. They run around so much it's difficult for them to clean-up empty tables quickly. If management added a porter to the dining room the floors/carpets would be much cleaner and tables would get cleared faster. The desert selection was great! An entire section dedicated to chocolate lovers. This location had several desserts and fruit selections not found at other Golden Corrals. This was a good place. Not sure when I'll be back to Lubbock, but it will probably be considered when selecting a location for lunch. read more
