This place isn't as great as when they first opened a few years back. I ate here with my parents cause my dad wanted to try the catfish. We were greeted by an African American guy advertising something, but he said, "Bienvenido." I said hi in English, but in my head I was wondering why he said it in Spanish. After getting our food, the staff guy assigned to our seating area said something in Spanish. At first, I thought he was talking to someone at the booth next to us, when I realized he was talking to my dad. I told him that we didn't speak Spanish. He apologized and said whatever he said earlier in English. I'll go on a little soapbox here. I'm sorry. I get this is Texas (born and raised here), and I'm Filipino, so sometimes people confuse me as some other Asian or Hispanic nationality, but please don't assume that I am either. Your safest bet is to just speak English then adjust, if needed. Ok, soapbox over. They had pork ribs today, which were good. They had original, chipotle, and some other flavor. My dad liked their fried catfish. The mac and cheese is good, not too salty or bland. They always seem to run out of mashed potatoes and hardly refill the tray. I got a baked potato instead. They offer baked sweet potato and sweet potato fries as an alternative. The salad bar has a variety of leafy greens, but be aware because some of them are wilted. I'd hate for anyone to get food poisoning or something. I had salad at a CiCi's in Atascocita a few years back and got food poisoning. Needless to say, I haven't set foot in a CiCi's since then. The chips and queso are yummy. The queso has a little spicy kick to it. For kids, the mini corn dogs and steak fries are good. The buttery rolls are soft and a little sweet. For dessert, there's a variety of ice cream, cakes, mini pecan pies, and bread pudding. The highlights of the desserts are the chocolate fountain and cotton candy. I don't eat here often, but it's ok if you want a variety and are in the mood to eat a million different things. It's only $1 cheaper for senior citizens (60 yrs and above) - $10.99. As soon as my family and I sit down to eat, a pregnant roach crawls from under the table and starts crawling across the wall right in front of us (I have video of this). This establishment should be torn down and rebuilt from the bottom up. The place has an unpleasant order as soon as you walk in. The food is just awe full. The cooks are just standing there and not paying attention while the food burns under the heat lamps. It has been there so long that has dried up and started to burn. Overall, I like the Golden Corral chain. This location has a good selection of food and the vegetables are generally well prepared and seem fresh. For example, the broccoli and brussel sprouts had a nice crunch (not mushy). The carrots were a bit soft but were tasty. I was glad to find that they didn't put the carrots in a sauce as some buffets do. Most of the trays were full of food, except the Italian sausage with peppers with onions. They didn't replenish the sausage in the empty tray for the entire 50 minutes I was there. And I like Italian sausage. That was disappointing. The fried chicken is excellent. The problem with this location is the lack of availability of the steak. People (including me) kept walking over to the steak prep area and there was a person there preparing a single steak. He told people to come back in ten minutes. When people would come back, there would be another single steak on the grill and we were told to come back in 10 minutes. Yes, there is plenty of tasty food at the restaurant but Golden Corral does emphasize the availability of steak and the way they handle the steak prep here does frustrate the customers. One person said to me "I just came for the steak." The price is good, but their handling of the steak left a bad taste in my mouth. I probably will not be coming back for that reason. Oh, sorry. And it gets cheaper and cheaper the more you eat. I go in cycles. First, I go for chicken fried steak, sweet peas, mashed potatoes and a roll. You know, keepin' it classic. Round two is usually pizza and some ranch sauce. Cleanse the palate and all. Round three is usually a burger with fries. If I have room, perhaps banana pudding for dessert. Now, all that may seem like a lot, and it most certainly is, but something magical - supernatural, even? - happens to people when they walk in that allows them to break diets and the laws of physics in order to eat as much as they want. I noticed the last couple of times I went that they are not making any of the fresh rolls-- those are so good! Wish they had them. Where they lose stars for me is their service. I've come in for to go a couple of times and each time the people working the front completely ignore me. They will literally look at me and go right back to their conversation. I showed up to eat with my family one afternoon, it was about three o clock, the place was pretty slow at the time and there wasn't a person in line when we entered. I waited about 3 mins for the staff working the registers to finish a "work related" conversation before I was finally acknowledged. I asked about a promotion that they had posted in line. Okay, I read all the reviews and decided to give it a chance. I honestly felt really at home as soon as I walked through the door I was greeted immediately. The price is decent for what they offer. Where else can i get 3 steaks for $15? My server Chris W was out of this world amazing he was on top of everything and kind of hovered over his section always looking for something to do or someone to help even if they weren't in his section. The food is great! Besides the steak the grilled chicken breast with bacon and cheese is to die for! The kitchen staff was helpful and friendly with directing me to a food I couldn't find alone. The managers Angel and David work as hard as the hourly employees. I will defiantly be back here again and looking to sit in Chris' section again! Most friendly and assertive server I have ever had! Maybe it's just me, but I really don't feel the one star rating is right for this place. It is a buffet after all. I'm not expecting culinary ecstasy. I do expect a clean environment and this place had it. I also expect thoroughly cooked food (where appropriate) and this place delivered. Now, like I said, this is a buffet. A common, garden variety, buffet for the budget conscience. Think of it as a fancy school-like cafeteria setting with easy to prepare, crowd pleasing dishes that are not too time sensitive. Okay. Now for my review. We dined just after they opened on a Sunday morning. The variety of food was good. Although I thought the desert section was a bit over the top for breakfast: a chocolate fountain with fruit and fudge chunks for dipping, ice cream with all the toppings for a sundae, and two cobblers. A sugar punch for the morning challenged. For the breakfast minded, there was the usual: scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, toast, etc. This standard fare was... well, standard. For a little something extra there was an omelette station, a carving station (ham), a dyi taco/nacho station. These were well appointed and a nice touch. There is a large area for salads too. Kind of impressive, actually. It was all fresh and well kept. Of course no one was eating salad for breakfast. Overall it was a reasonably pleasant breakfast of good value. So what's not to like? This restaurant has been around for years and people normally know what to expect when visiting. I made the mistake of coming near the end of the day. There was still some fresh food being made but not like during the day. Our waiter was cool but it was the end of the day so i'm sure everyone was ready to go home. I think there should be plastic gloves available at the buffet, too many germs and cross contamination occur because of the high number of customers using the same utensils over and over. read more

Then I observed the type of preparation they make with past food over time overheated food and I made the decision to leave since they cut me hours and took away hours of work at the time of presenting my uniform and resigning I went for my check two weeks later and it turns out that they do not want to give me my week of funds because he appears that he does not leave anything and that he does not work it is an injustice to me and they do it only for the fact of being undocumented they pass apart that the managers give hours to those who let themselves be touched That's unethical, non-professional... This was the first time that I have ever been to a Golden Corral... and wow, the food is just downright terrible! The service was ok, the facility was clean, and I thought the theme and layout were cool... but once I started eating, it just went straight downhill. GC advertises having 150 items on their buffet, and I think it is safe to say that all 150 items are subpar. EVERYTHING I tried was no good... the "New Orleans" style blackened fish, for instance, tasted like flavorless rubber. Officials in New Orleans should send a cease and desist letter and demand that GC stop using the city's name to describe such a horrendous dish. The salad bar ingredients were not so fresh, and the accompaniments were bland and unappetizing. The Chinese "Wok" did no justice to that genre of food. The bourbon chicken had an odd roux-like taste to it and the lo mein was basically just egg noodles with some kind of weird mango sauce or something on it... and the chocolate fountain of filth... well, just stay far away from that cesspool of recirculating germs. Even the garlic cheese biscuits were no good. How do you mess up garlic and cheese on a buttermilk biscuit? BOTTOM LINE: I will NEVER eat at a Golden Corral again. Since I've never been to a Golden Corral since I've moved here, my friends wanted me to try this place, so we made our way after church to the newly opened Golden Corral in Spring, Texas. We went around lunch time on a Sunday, so there were tons of people. We had to wait in line to get in, but it wasn't too bad of a wait. Since we came in as a big group, we weren't able to sit with everyone, so we had to sit in different sections of the place. Everyone raved about their food, and let me tell you... there's a lot of it! There was a good mixture of American, Asian, and Mexican food, plus desserts (they had cotton candy, I've never seen that in a restaurant before). I had a small bite of the major foods out there. In a way it was a little overwhelming, one of my friends said it best.. "when will the line of food end?!?!" I usually am I able to get a few plates at a buffet, but the food made me full fast. So I barely got two plate full. Famous for their bread too, and it was yummy. Overall a good experience, I'd come here again if I had a big appetite. read more

I have been to this location many times and always had a good experience. However, my most recent experience was awful. First, the cashier was busy flirting with the guy in front of us and acted like she had all day to spend with him and wouldn't acknowledge us. Finally she noted our irritation and waved him on and just then, two other employees ran up and started talking to her. We were getting frustrated with having to wait and said "okay, we're here now" which just made her mad and she slammed the cash register and stomped off after we paid. We had a hard time finding a table because most of them were piled high with dirty plates. We went to the buffet and someone spilled something over the clean silverware and dishes because they were all sticky. All of them. We were there for breakfast and noticed dried fruit and nuts for yogurt or oatmeal, yet there wasn't any oatmeal or yogurt on the buffet. What were we supposed to do with thr dried fruit and nuts then? So then we decided to get some eggs and sausage and make a breakfast sandwich and there was no bread on the buffet. When we asked for some bread they told us they don't serve bread until 11:00 am. Oh really? Yet you serve gumbo, chili and enchiladas? What universe am I in? We went back to our table and the waiter covering our section never came to check on Us once, even though we saw him standing around doing nothing for long stretches of time. By the time we left none of the dirty dishes from any of the tables has been touched. We were never offered coffee or had our drinks refilled. What happened to this place? It's too bad. My family and I went here on a busy Sunday afternoon. We have been visiting the location in Humble, TX for a while, so we decided to give this new one a try. Big mistake. While the wait in line for a table was reasonable, the wait at the actual buffet tables was ridiculous. The worst part was that when they ran out of food, they would not refill it. The salad bar was totally empty the entire time I was there, so was the food in the Chinese section. The atmosphere was a bit uncomfortable, as it seemed like you had to literally fight for the food. There was a bit of a mob mentality as everyone scrambled to get what they want before they ran out of that item again. However, what I did manage to get was quite good, but we won't be going back to that location again, especially on a busy Sunday. read more

Came in with low expectations. It's a buffet and didn't expect much. The quality of food was surprisingly good. The salad bar was nice and the other food stations were good too. A little heavy on the salt on some dishes. But better being over seasoned than bland? The service though was completely terrible. They soda machine was broken and no blame to them, things happen. The compensated with 2-liter sodas that you poured yourself. My mother helped a young girl fill her cup. When she opened to bottle it sprayed everywhere and got all over her hands. They didn't offer her a paper towel or anything to clean herself off and absolutely no word of apology from the staff. Our drinks were never refilled. I had to go back to the drink station in the entrance to refill my beverage. The young man in our section walked by several times and never offered a refill. Our plates were never picked up and we had to set them on a different table to make room.
