I've been buying donuts from Andrew for 20 years. They've always been fresh and tasty, just what a donut should be. He and his lovely wife are great people who work hard to make their business a success. My daughter wanted a donut wall with custom donuts for her wedding dessert table. Apparently it's a hip thing to have nowadays. Andrew made us 4 dozen gorgeous, custom decorated, color coordinated donuts at an extremely reasonable price. Sigh.... still searching for a good donut shop in Marin County and this is not the place... located in a small older shopping center that has seen better days. I was hoping this one was better but it was just okay nothing to get mouth watering excited for! We got the sugar, glazed, plain cake and the glazed buttermilk donuts. The only one that was decent was the glazed donut. The rest I took one bite and threw it away. Why can't donut shops change their dough recipes according to the different donuts.?Meaning, the plain case should have cinnamon or a different taste from the glaze donut. There different types of donuts they shouldn't taste like the sugar donut or the glazed buttermilk donut, etc.. So, I suggest just getting the glazed donut here and move on... nothing to see here! Ok, ok! So this WAS the same day that I had the pecan bar and the cranberry oat flapjack - who's counting?? So judgy. On 101 upon having officially left my Love - The City, I wanted a doughnut. I needed an apple fritter. Could I get to Sonoma in time to visit my favorite shop? Nay, nay I say, I could not! What would serve as my doughnut on the go? Where could I turn?? A light went off and I remembered the doughnut place from ages ago when I worked off of Ignacio. Surprising clientele, I must say - that corner off of the overpass is like a magnet for the businessmen. Especially if I have my clear pumps on. Uh! God, you KNOW I'm kidding, right?? I put the pedal to the metal and shimmied on in. No Apple Fritters, but I was not to be deterred. My backup, the buttermilk bar, was gleaming in the case, a little darker than the others and just waiting for Grace. I pointed to my baby, snatched it up when the nice Girl passed it over and ran to my car. One must always eat such things hurriedly. In the car. I didn't reach excstacy with this treat, but it was a darn fine effort. Outer was crunchy - definite points for that, but inner was dry and a threatened heartburn. Such a mean thing to do. I take them to work with me and everyone always asks where to find the donut shop they love them so much. Andrew the owner is always friendly. My favorite donuts are the raised donuts with sugar and the plain old fashion. I go in early morning and it is always full of people and well stocked. Every Thursday, my family and I (and now my entire company!) enjoy "cheater day." We start this off-the-diet-plan day with a healthy (unhealthy?) selection of delicious fresh donuts and more from Golden Cream Donuts No. 2. They have the usual range of cake donuts, glazed/unglazed/sprinkles, etc - and then they have some really awesome ones. One which is an automatic purchase every time I come is the apple fritter. This thing is not only huge but it's awesome sweet so you just have to share it. Which makes sense because you'll want to have room left for their chocolate chip covered and filled donut. Oh Mmmmmmmm Gee! Donut holes, maple bars, cream bars, it just goes on and on. One of the other automatic purchases is their ham and cheese croissant - fresh, warm and just yummy. They have a nice selection of coffees and other goodies too but I just come here for the donuts. The service is very friendly and even when there's a line, you won't wait for more than a couple of minutes so if you're in a hurry on your way to the office (like me) you're safe to stop here. If you live south of Novato, I can also recommend their sister location on Lincoln Avenue in downtown San Rafael but they tend to run out of selection much earlier. read more

I was despairing of life before I met this donut. My car had broken down in this strange city. Everything seemed to be going wrong. Walking from my hotel and seeking food I discovered this place by accident. It is possible that my car broke down just so I could experience this moment.
