This place is fine and will satisfy your Chinese food cravings. I've had the war sue-gai, wonton soup, fried pork dumplings and pork fried rice. For a Chinese restaurant, the fried rice does leave something to be desired as it was a little bland both times I tried it. It does offer a large menu including udon noodles which can sometimes be hard to find, and they also have a good mobile app. Not special, but a good spot. read more

Today is and will be my last day ordering from this place. I ordered 2 soups, 1 chicken noodle and the other was wonton soup. Total cost $6.00 for a waste, they don't even give you a bag of dry noodles to go with the soups , if you want dry noodles, it will cost for that. Then to make matters worse, the wonton noodles looked funny and so did the water it was sitting in, that soup is going into the garbage and the chicken noodle might be also. I WASTED 6.00. As a new resident of the area, I was a first-time user of Door Dash and first-time visitor of this restaurant. Cannot comment on the service or ambiance, but will comment on the food. The Won-Ton soup lacked flavor, the Crab Rangoon was tasty, but could have used more crab filling, egg roll was good, the Orange Chicken was very good, the broccoli was fresh and perfectly prepared. Unfortunately my experience with this restaurant is pretty poor. I ordered about 5 things that ended up around 50$. Price wouldn't have been horrible if the food was at all worth it. There was way more rice than entree. The food was so tasteless and the crisp items were soggy. They also messed up the order and gave us an incorrect item. First time going here. This place has a comfortable atmosphere, friendly cashier, and the food is tasty. I ordered the Hunan beef combination plate and asked for it to be extra spicy. This time I actually received what I wanted and it was definitely extra spicy. I also ordered a spring roll which tasted very good. They have new items on their menu. I don't remember all of it but now they have fried or steamed pot stickers and I also remember the menu saying pho soup. Overall it's a nice place. I will enjoy going there again one day. read more

First time visiting and likely our only time. We started out with the won ton soup, which I found extremely sweet. The wontons were just dough, no filling as I usually see. We then had the fried pork dumplings which were the best part of the meal. They were served with a great sauce and were very large. We then split an order of chicken Lo mein and General Tso's chicken. Neither of us liked the lo mein. The noodles were yellow and had no flavor. There was very little chicken which was a disappointment. The General Tso's had a decent flavor, but again not much chicken. There was plenty of broccoli and carrots and the sauce was decent. The atmosphere is typical Chinese restaurant, location is in a little strip mall. We sat for awhile and finally asked at the counter if there was table service. After that, service was quick. When I say that the place has no atmosphere, I am understating it. It has all of the charm of a mall food court. The restaurant is very small, with seating for perhaps 20 people. The menu is large and has all of the traditional entrees. Prices are reasonable. They seem to have a decent take-out business. We ordered pan fried dumplings as an app, wonton soup, general tsos and chicken lo mein. We planned to take home any food left over. The lo mein was bland, at best, and there was barely any chicken. The tsos tasted decent, but the quantity resembled more of that of a lunch portion. The soup and dumplings were both very good. Food was not that great at all. Fried rice was about the best tasting item we got and that was not that great either. Rice was very dried out and hard. The pork in it was so over cooked it was like trying to eat marbles. Sweet and sour chicken, the chicken was mostly greasy breading and the sauce was the darkest red I have even seen, tasted like cherries and was like a gelatin. The sesame chicken was like thin strips of chicken that was like eating jerky or leather. The bbq spareribs we ordered were not like any we have ever ordered anywhere before. They're normally chewy at other places but not here. Here, they were so overly tender that we wondered if they were even cooked all the way. The wonton soup hardly had any pork in the wonton and it was minced and extremely salty. Wonton soup is normally salty, I know, but this was saltiness to the next level. The three of us all had horrible stomach aches and nausea after dinner and felt sick half way through the next day as well. Wanted to try something new as we are newer to this area but we will just stick with Qin fen. read more

Although Golden Crown is small and tucked out of the way, it is an amazing place to get Chinese food. The prices were very reasonable, the portions large, and the food tasty. Usually, Asian food of any type is hard to find, but not here. Almost everything they serve is tasty. I'd recommend the Chicken Teriyaki or the Kung Pao Chicken. I would be remiss if I said nothing was good, because the egg rolls were good and the white rice, because it's white rice and that was pretty good. But everything else was kind of sub par. Maybe it's what I ordered. The quality of the chicken on the general tso's was really bad. You hope for crispy chicken with a spicy sauce, but this is soggy and the breading is gross. The lo mien hardly has any vegetables, and is also pretty bleh. Stay far away from the crab rangoons. I wanted to like this place, I had gone to the one in Vermilion and was even more disappointed. Seeing these reviews, and knowing it was under different management I thought it would be better. The people in the restaurant love it, but it's gross. read more

It was ok. Jin House (which is only slightly better than ok in my opinion) was closed so we ordered from Golden Crown instead. My husband and I both ordered off the numbered combination menu and unfortunately they misheard and gave us a #23 instead of a #43. Big difference between Honey Chicken and Chicken with Snow Peas . I guess we should have said the number and the name but it's too late now. I got Szechuan Chicken and the chicken tasted either reheated or just old. Usually chicken from Chinese restaurants is really tender...not today. My egg roll was ok, probably would have been as good as one of the frozen ones you can buy in the grocery store and bake. You can't beat Golden Crown! I was never in the Amherst Area until I met my boyfriend 2 years ago. Golden Crown is his spot and holds special memories of weekends with his dad growing up, so on maybe our 2nd date we got dinner at Golden Crown. MY GOD! it is so delicious! Honestly one of the best Chinese places around! The people there are so nice and even know our names (they always know when hes calling because he asks for his fried rice with no egg). We lived in Elyria for awhile and driving almost 20 minutes to get Chinese food was a pain so we only ever got it a few times. But we are now back in Amherst and it is our go to spot. They also have about 40 names for what is essentially the same dish, but it's tasty and clearly identifiable as the animal that you ordered, so that's cool. Oh man, this one time I ordered Chinese food when I was in grad school (not from here, mind you) and it looked sketchy but I was hungry so I started eating it and I'm pretty sure it was a cat. I went in to Golden Crown Chinese Restaurant in Amherst last week and ordered some egg rolls. They were delicious and "PIPING HOT". I went back yesterday 8/12/19 to order more egg rolls to take to my 88 year old mother. I took my first little bite expecting it to burn my mouth, and it was cold on inside of egg roll. I touched the others which were luke warm. I thought to myself they must have warmed up yesterday's egg rolls and gave them to me. I ended up calling and told the lady who answered that my egg rolls were not fresh. They were cold. She told me to come back and she would give me new hot ones. When I got there the woman stepped away from the counter and the man in the back came out angry. He asked "How can he help you". I put my cold ones on counter expecting to get fresh egg rolls. (There was 1 customer in the restaurant). I told him I just ordered these egg rolls and they were cold in the middle. They were not hot. They were not fresh. He took my egg rolls in the back kitchen with him. Then came out with an egg roll and a thermometer. He broke it in half and put the thermometer close to the food. It read 95 degrees. That reading was not possible. The egg rolls I gave him were slightly warm. He started yelling at me. Told me the egg rolls were still hot. That he was not giving me any new egg rolls. I was crazy. He yelled at the lady who worked there (maybe wife) and told her to give me my money back. Which she did. He yelled at me and told me never to come back again. I assured him that I would not return. I also, told him that the Golden Crown Restaurant in Lorain would never treat me like this. I think the THE GOLDEN CROWN CHINESE RESTAURANT HAS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I also believe the cook needs to see a therapist for "ANGER MANAGEMENT"! I GIVE THEM A BIG FAT "F" for "Fallacious"! Which means "DECEITFUL"!!!!!!! BAD, BAD, BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! You know you go there to much when they know you by your voice over the phone. Not many people know this but they have homemade duck sauce and you can get it in your to go order for like 25cents-75 cents. It's yummy goodness :-).
