Not very impressed, I only had an egg roll and their pork fried wontons. Both were obviously frozen premade. The wontons were very greasy, the cherry dipping sauce was good but lacked heat. The pork egg roll was OK. Very much a take out place but the service was quick and efficient. I'll go back to try a dinner and I hope it is made with fresh ingredents. I drive past other Chinese takeaways to come to Lucky Restaurant. The shopping center in which it's located, seems mostly abandoned. The entrance to Lucky is stark and uninviting, yet go inside and you will find the nicest people making some of the best Chinese takeout I've had this side of Asia Town. The menu is typical of Americanized Chinese food, but the fresh taste of the dishes is never overpowered or muddled by the cooking oils. It's worth the extra miles that I drive to come here, just to avoid the disappointment I've experienced just about everywhere else. read more

Several months ago I had an order which placed me in close contact with the porcelain god. I believe in second chances and tried it again yesterday. Ordered pork lo mein which was just "ok" and I ordered the chicken chow mein. The only thing recognizable were onions and celery. The rest was a slimy mess. This was an awesome experience. I was hungry and craving an egg roll, crab Rangoon, and general tso chicken. When I walked in it was a pleasant surprise to see a dining area which I took advantage of. The crab Rangoon came out first. It was piping hot so I took to tearing each in half. The egg roll arrived as I was commenting to myself silently how this was the first time I'd ever seen actual pieces of meat in the crab Rangoon! Yum! The egg roll was just as hot, crispy, and delicious. I ate half of each when the general tso arrived at the table. The only negative thing I can say is that I prefer this dish with broccoli, which isn't the case here. But there was absolutely nothing wrong with the dish! I've been a couple times. So far, best Chinese in town. Everything I have ordered seems to be homemade and that just makes it better. Quick, friendly, and they do not disappoint. One time I didn't realize when they closed and called to order on a really late night of work, I ended up calling five minutes before they closed (not knowing when they closed) and they still made my order and were happy to serve me (I do not recommend this as I felt really bad and apologized many times for keeping them open late.) Fast, fresh, and the best Chinese food I've had in 2 years! Don't be deterred by its outer appearance (the parking lot and surrounding stores give the appearance of being a little run down); this small, local family restaurant won't disappoint. My father and I dined there this week; he ordered the Chef's Special: Seven Star Around the Moon, I ordered the Sauteed Shrimp with Mixed Vegetables, and we each ordered an egg roll, as the waitress--and owner--recommended them as 'very good!' Our drinks were promptly delivered which were shortly followed by our hot, fresh, DELICIOUS egg rolls with dipping sauce. Before we even finished our egg rolls, the waitress came out with our meals. They were served on two plates each: one with a pile of white rice and the other with our main course, fresh from the wok! We were impressed by the variety of fresh vegetables (celery, carrots, broccoli, and even whole baby bella mushrooms) and the amount of meat--they definitely did not skimp on the shrimp in my meal! Everything was cooked to perfection in a sauce that was flavorful, yet not overly thick or pervasive. There was so much food, my father couldn't finish his meal. Without even asking, the server offered us a box for the leftovers. A few notes: their glass windows have the 'Buffet' written on them, but it looked like their buffet was out of service for the moment. Our food was ready so quickly and, having been freshly prepared, tasted so fresh that it would beat a buffet any day. While we were there, two customers ordered take-out and waited in the store was it was rapidly prepared; both left before we finished our meals.
