The styling brushes she was going to use on my hair were not clean and had other peoples hair wrapped around and there was lint clogging the blow dryers filter. I asked the stylist not to use those brushes on my hair and asked her if she could get clean ones. She left me in the chair and I assumed she was going to get clean brushes but instead she went to the Manager who came to me and said the stylist was unable to finish because she was now uncomfortable and self-conscious. I explained my intention was not meant to be hurtful because I assumed she could just get clean brushes. So I only got 1 of 3 services I had booked, the Manager did not apologize for the dirty brushes and also didn't comp my service. I paid $85 and left. As I had a few days to think about my bad experience, several factors are important. #1 Poor cleaning and poor hygiene is a no-no, the stylist and the salon could be fined and their licenses affected. #2 The Manager did not apologize for the bad hygiene and seemed to indicate I was the problem for asking the stylist for clean brushes. The stylist did not have any other clients and during the 30 minutes my color was processing, she could have cleaned her tools but she did not. She was in the back somewhere. #3 This is an Aveda salon and I high expectations for quality of service and was let down. I do not recommend this salon.
