We loved finding Golden Donuts while in the area. This place full of locals and delicious donuts. My daughter really enjoyed the coconut donut. I enjoyed the maple donut. My wife liked the old fashioned. We got a dozen and sampled as many as we could. We tried the cherry filled donut, which if you love cherries that she be great for you. Overall it was a great experience, and a local gem. If you are visiting from out of town you gotta check them out! Highly recommended! read more

We have been out of state for a few years, and the few times we have been in Anchorage and stopped by was during Golden Donut's annual vacation when it is closed. We were so happy to finally be in town when it was open! I love their old fashioned doughnuts and have been wanting one for years. I excitedly explained this to the server, who nicely loaded up all my requests and even popped a couple bonus pastries in my box. They were as delicious as I remembered. i wish i could give you any stars... but it was closed when apple & google said you were open. 24 hours is a LIE. Came to grab a coffee for my long drive home and i was welcomed with a CLOSED until 5:30 am. so disappointed. Do not expect to go here after 1am because they're most likely closed. Flew into Anchorage for some medical appointments and saw this little gem while driving to said appointment. Bought a powdered custard bismark, blueberry filled, and a raspberry. They are amazing! I would recommend getting here early, I was told they have quite the selection and I could see they were sold out of a lot. Staff, owner possibly, is very nice. I also saw a sign about biscuits and gravy in the morning until sold out. I will definitely be back every time I'm in Anchorage. read more

Not much for donuts left for the day. Early afternoon is not the best time. I ordered two old fashioned one plain and one chocolate. Also ordered one blueberry cake donut. I had the plain old fashioned. I was surprised at how greasy it was. It was crispy. That was nice but pretty oily. The employee was indifferent and didn't offer any recommendations when I asked for the best of what they had left. Yeah, they're delicious. A dozen mixed for $15.95. The store is kind of lifeless, but sure does smell good. They need a little music in there or something to liven things up. However, I'm only giving a 2-star rating because they're constantly closed when they say they're open and calling ahead to see if they're open is pointless when they don't answer the phone or have a recorded message with any useful information. They have hours on their door, but I've tried going over there 3 times this week and they have been closed during the hours listed as open. I get that they are a small business, and things happen, but part of good customer service is having accurate hours listed and if you're closed, put a sign on the door stating you're closed, update your Facebook page, or have a voicemail that lets your customers know you're closed so they aren't wasting their time driving over to your store. I've been a customer for almost 30 years and am switching to Dino's. They are a little further away for me, but at least they value their customer's time. read more

We were craving donuts after leaving Chilkoot Charlie's and we're thrilled to find Golden Donuts was open 24 hours. Not only we're they open, but they had fresh apple fritters at 12:30am (and the rest of the donuts were certainly not old). Zachary was incredibly kind and brought a level of service and friendliness that I would not have expected from a late night donut shop. They know donuts and know how to make people feel at home. Tonight is our last night in Anchorage for this trip and we decided to go back. Zachary was working again and took great care of us again, and sure enough, more fresh donuts. The best donuts in Anchorage! DoNOT get the fancy donuts they are too sweet and not worth it. Great donuts, poorly managed business. I phoned this place several times throughout this week and they are always out of donuts. I was around the area this evening, Saturday @ 0745, and AGAIN no donuts! The Lady at the counter said that they will cook more around 11pm. However, this is a 24/7 donut establishment and no donuts? Maybe they should change their hours and close the shop for prep time - 24/7 is misleading. If they claim that they serve coffee and that's the reason they open 24/7 then they should consider changing the sign to Golden Coffee. read more

In five or six trips here, I've yet to have a bad donut. I don't eat sugar/carbs very much so they seem EXTRA sweet when I have them. I've been most impressed with the blueberry cake donut. It's got that perfect blend of sweet, cake, and blueberries. There have been a couple times I've stopped by and they were closed (I think on Monday?). Because they are 24 hours, the closed day confuses me a little. Do they close at Midnight and reopen the next day at midnight? Service is usually / generally friendly but lacks a certain pizazz.
