Wow what an unexpected delicious bakery find in East Anchorage! This place has been on my radar for the fun events that they host especially during Halloween this year they had drag loteria. I knew it was a coffee shop, but what I didn't know is that they sell amazing pastries and cakes. Honestly their baked goods are up there with places like fire island, and I especially love their variety of Hispanic treats like tres leches cake. They also sometimes have food specials like in the winter time they are currently doing pozole Sundays. The shop is very comfortable and cutely decorated & most importantly it's a safe space for the LGBTQI+ community. It's not just a coffee shop, but a place for many communities to express themselves. They also do a lot of great outreach and community support projects here. If you're in East Anchorage, and looking for a cool coffee shop to check out definitely give this place a visit!

This place should win awards for: - - Cool Decorations (especially behind the baristas and espresso machine). - - An array of artisan style espresso drinks (and the description of each on menu on the counter). - - Delicious scones like strawberry basil (the soft type of scone). The setup and atmosphere reminds me of the late and great Uncle Leroy's coffee no longer open off 36th. The barista was engaged and friendly. She quickly and efficiently answered my questions about the cafecito. The cafecito is basically espresso, sugar, and froth. It was very good. It was just really small. The barista was able to tell me how much sugar goes with it and she was able to change the amount. I think it would be better in a ceramic cup (I got it to go). I'm excited to go back and try something with some cream in it. The pastries, while very cool and fresh, were rather limited. I only saw about four varieties of things.

Highly recommend the horchata late ice or hot. Great staff!! Great for artist and work to do. Very atheistic, cultural, and absolutely love the artwork. Till I stop by again!!

It's frustrating when the online info says the business is open and we drive all the way across town to find them closed.

No longer off Debarr Road, maybe shut down. Be sure to call before you go there. I went there today and no sign of the place.

I heard local coffee was a must in Anchorage but I was not expecting such a beautifully inclusive and warming experience.

I was right, as I walked in they sold the very last thing of what I wanted. But gosh am I glad- it forced me to try something new. I didnt take a picture because it was so cold out and my hands were frozen, but it was a beautiful, elongated bakery treat. It had lovely purple Ube cream and touch of oreo crumbs on top, the base was essential much like a flat cruller, but if higher quality. It was sensational! I bought my husband something that looked lower carb that had coffee cream that also enjoyed. I got my husband custom cold jasmine sugar free tea, and I got a frosty honeydew melon drink. It was a little spendy, but its nice to have a treat one on a while.

I stopped by Benji's Bakery & Café in Anchorage for the first time and tried a few things. The Ube…read moreCroffle was the standout -- it was so delicious! It's like a croissant baked in a waffle form, but a bit denser than a regular croissant. What really made it special was the Ube cream -- a light, buttery frosting that wasn't too sweet. Easily a 10/10 for me. I also ordered the Ube Cruffin, which had that same croissant-like texture in a muffin shape. The inside had a light cream filling, and the top was covered with the same Ube cream. It was good, but not quite as amazing as the Croffle -- 7/10. The Ham Banh Mi was tasty and filling (6/10), and the Boba Milk Tea was decent too (6/10). Oh and I got to taste their smoked salmon chowder that my friend ordered. Very good flavor, body, and richness (8/10). Everything I had was good but nothing that was as memorable as the Ube Croffle, but it wasn't cheap -- I spent a total $32 for a sandwich, drink and 2 pastries. Then again, prices in Alaska tend to be higher in general. Overall, even though I've only been once, I'd definitely come back for that Ube Croffle -- it was the real highlight!
