I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, I can't recommend it. I ordered food for delivery, and it was a major letdown from the start. Honestly, I'm not sure if the chef had just finished smoking or what, but the food had a weird, ashy taste that I couldn't ignore. I ordered four dishes in total, and none of them were memorable. The hot and sour soup had an odd taste that I couldn't quite place, and the two beef dishes--beef and broccoli and Mongolian beef--were both disappointing. I thought these would be safe bets since they're such classic, go-to dishes, but they missed the mark completely. The beef and broccoli were way too salty, and the Mongolian beef didn't taste anything like what I was expecting--it was just off. Here in town on a business trip. Drove by here and here we are. The atmosphere is traditional with large koi in a swimming pond.We had a warm welcome and were seated quickly. The menu had a wide range of options . This included sushi. They also have liquor if you want some. The flavor of all meals was good to average with only one complaint coming from the pho seafood soup, lacking seafood. I will probably never be in this place again. (It's not their fault)but for this visit, I will recommend this place, I had a decent overall experience here. read more

I haven't been to Golden Dragon in a few years and I've really been missing out. Tonight I decided to order takeout from there on a whim and get a dish I've never had before. Orange Beef as my entree and crab meat cream cheese wontons as a side. The orange beef is absolutely delicious. I shared it with 2 other people who also really enjoyed it. In fact, one person tried to take all of my orange beef (ha!). The side dish was also enjoyed by all. Equally important, the employees are incredibly nice. This is the place they helped me fall in love with Asian food as a kid. I'm 53 now, recently moved back home, and the food is still excellent (especially the Japanese IMO, tho the sushi isn't fancy). Food: I've had a variety of items from both the traditional menu and the sushi menus and haven't met a disappointing mouthful yet. However, if you're looking for the typical Americanized commercial style prep, sadly you will not find it here. The food is made with care and not prepackaged and reheated as many places do. The General Tso is in a real sauce with crispy chicken and lightly fried onions served with a steaming bowl of white or fried rice. My absolute favorite though is the sushi! Service: Chi makes the sushi at the sushi bar and for the most fun, sit at the bar! Chi is personable and loves to engage with all his customers (whom he treats like old friends). I had some health issues that now limit my diet. Chi found out and told me just to ask how he might modify a recipe to meet my dietary concerns so I can continue to enjoy many of the dishes I thought would be lost to me forever. I came to dinner here with my friend Ryan. I ordered the Shrimp Tempura and my friend got the Sweet and Sour Chicken. My meal came with a bowl of rice and some soy sauce too. Before the main dish came out, the waiter brought out soup and salad for me. I believe the soup is included with the main dish. The soup was good and the salad was okay (it was pieces of lettuce with dressing). The Shrimp Tempura was just fine. It came with some other things on the plate like green beans and a few other things that I have no idea what they were. My friend seemed to enjoy his meal very well as he had being there before and ordered the same Sweet and Sour Chicken. I happened to be in the Akron area for work and my friend choose this restaurant for us to meet at. Since I live in Cleveland (Lakewood), I won't be back here anytime soon. If I happen to be in the Cuyahoga Falls area again, I may order something else off the menu. I arrived at a typical strip mall Chinese restaurant for my first visit. I found the place quiet with a smattering of people as it was an early Dinner. The four of us were greeted at the door and seated at a corner table. Reviewing the menu, we decided on the family style dinner for 4. This allows each to enjoy their choice of entrees and sides. It also includes a fixed appetizer, soup and beverage. The food arrived in stages by an attentive server. The food was prepared to perfection and the presentation was well received. The only issue was that the fried pork was gristly and over done. Other than that, the food was delicious with ample portions. The price was reasonable. We ordered takeout and given that only one person was sitting by himself at the sushi area, I would have thought the food would have been out in the 15min we were quoted, but no. We waited an extra 10min for the food and it's usually ok if the food is amazing, but it wasn't. The soup was cold and the chicken was dry, which I'm guessing is because the food sat waiting. And the fortune cookies we received? It was a nice cap for the whole meal. One bad meal may not stop us from going again, but tonight was a bummer. The good: The steamed broccoli was cooked to perfection, and was separate from the disappointing sauce. The not so good: Hot and Sour Soup.... This was a feint attempt at hot and sour, but I give them credit, for having even just a bit of sour.... that is a rare thing in Stow, OH, but still a fail.. And the price paid for what looks like the smallest amount you could put in a tiny bowl and get away with it.. that's another story The disappointment: General Tso Chicken..It is called "spicy" on the menu... The Golden Dragon has become something of a Christmas Eve-Eve tradition for us. We always seem to end up here on December 23rd. The unassuming exterior gives no indication to the splendors within. The dining room has an artificial river running through it with real fish. While that may sound over the top, the execution is quite tasteful: the gentle sounds of running water are a symphonic accompaniment to the dining experience. While all their offerings are flavorful and delicious, the hot and sour soup is the best I have ever had. I always make sure to start with the hot and sour soup. Each spoonful delights the senses. The pupu platter arrives with a flaming center- such theater! Such presentation! All the platter elements are wonderful. Crisp chicken, crab Rangoon, egg rolls, skewers; the most delicious one can taste. I opted this trip for king pao chicken. Spicy heat, crunchy peanuts. Wonderful fried rice. The owner and staff will all engage in conversation with you and they are all either very polite or funny or both! The interior is very nice. It is spacious and clean. Everything I have ever had here is wonderful. We have tried half dozen different sushis, Japanese & Chinese dishes. Their tempura is amazing, so is their bubble tea. I just can't say enough about my friends at Golden Dragon! The only thing I would change is to make the sushi bar bigger! I've heard great many stories here but I've never had any reason to come out here as I have my other fave sushi places. I ended up here after checking out another restaurant and we wanted some sake so we stopped by. We arrived and they just have a random cashier lady that doesn't seem to do anything. We asked for a table and the sushi chef sat us...when it came to ordering, what we wanted from the sushi bar wasn't available. What gives? How can it be that great...well, if you want rolls, like so many people do now, this must be the place. We weren't here for that though. We all ended up just ordering randomly and just drank sake. When it came to cash out, or server dropped off our checks and NEVER came back. It must be normal here. Who knows but I'll never be back. The place was DEAD too. I don't get the hype. read more

So I thought I should share this: Dear Golden Dragon, We hope that you use this email to your advantage. It was too bad that our experience at your restaurant was not what we expected. After reading the reviews from yelp, we were very disappointed with your dishes. We tried both menus - Japanese and Chinese. Your sushi was very fishy and it was falling apart when we picked it up with our chop sticks. It was a sign that there was no care in preparing the dishes. One final note, I understand your chefs at the bar is famous. They were to busy talking to the familiar customers. No one cared to say hello to us "the new customers". They were loud and your place lack ambiance. You need to deem the lights a little bit and ask your chefs not to be so loud. In comparing your dishes to Seoul Korea, we should have gone back to this restaurant. Although it simple inside, it is never disappointing. I am writing to you instead of publishing these comments in FB or Yelp. I think you deserve another chance to hopefully use this email as a way to make it better. Awful service, the owner was running so fast to take care of door dash orders he almost ran me into a wall when I got up to find the bathroom . The food was terrible. we had to peal the breading off the tempura it was so old- you could smell the grease when they at the food down This restaurant used to be good but it's really gone downhill. A friend brought me here while I was visiting her for a long weekend. I love sushi so I was really excited since I had been craving it for a couple of weeks and hadn't gotten around to going out for it at home. First, we ordered edamame which were cooked perfectly and I appreciate that they didn't salt them so we could salt them to our preference. The house salad was a nice size and I enjoyed their ginger dressing, although it was different from other ginger dressings I have had. We then ordered several different rolls including the Smart Alex roll, To Die For roll, and the Hot Rod Roll. The Hot Rod Roll was my favorite by far. One thing I found disappointing was how many of their more interesting rolls had cream cheese in them. Truthfully, I am a purist and don't feel that cream cheese belongs in sushi. I also tried a couple bites of their octopus salad which was absolutely excellent and I would definitely order in the future. We sat at the sushi bar and had great service from Chai, the sushi chef. Overall, it was a really great and fun atmosphere where we made new friends and had a few interesting (in a good way) moments. While the sushi could have been better, I had a great time and would easily return. read more

We went in the middle of the afternoon, and there were no other guests in this large restaurant besides my partner and I. We were seated at a booth but later choose to move because the overhead lightbulb (recessed) was blinking, causing discomfort on the eyes. This restaurant has nice decor, complete with a pond and interesting pieces of Asian decoration pieces on display. (They have a small selection of gifts for sale.) Our server was quite friendly and efficient. We ordered an appetizer of shrimp blanket which was a shrimp wrapped in a spring roll wrapper with a little cream cheese inside. This was quite tasty. We also had a regular Pho ($8.95), seafood Pho ($12.95) and Princess Pork. While the Pho was tasty, I was disappointed with the portion size. It was served with a plate of vegetables (Thai basil, bean sprouts, and lime) but no other condiments. I had to request some hot chilli oil to spice things up. Also unfortunate was that the broth in the Pho was not beef based. Honestly, I did expect more (food) for the price of the dishes. I have no complaints about the pork dish, though. I would order the Princess pork again but would have to be pretty desperate for some noodle soup to order the Pho again. read more

I moved to Los Angeles, yet Golden Dragon is still my favorite sushi place! Every time I'm anywhere within 3 hours of Golden Dragon, I make a point to visit. Their sushi is top notch, as are their other dishes. Chai, Hong, and Meng love joking around with their guests, especially when you sit at the sushi bar! It doesn't take long for them to treat you like family, which then leads to them offering you food not on the menu. Golden Dragon is another place that I always go whenever I am home in Akron. Their old location was awesome- they were a little further down the street, right by my old ballet studio. That location was divided into two sides- Japanese and Chinese. On the Japanese side you could sit on the floor, which of course my family always opted to do. The new location isn't as fun, but they have the same people working there and it's always nice to see a familiar face. The food is pretty standard American Chinese food. The sushi is pretty good for Akron :) and they have a pretty good lunch buffet on the weekends. It's a family favorite, and was always a place that we went when I was growing up. The service is friendly and good, the food is consistently tasty, and even without the on-the-floor seating, the ambiance is very nice. read more

I've been going to the Golden Dragon for more than 20 years. They serve Japanese & Chinese and have a fantastic sushi bar. The restaurant includes a beautiful Koi pond and peaceful fountain. In the back of the seating area is a section with low tables and cushions for floor seating. Futher, their sushi bar is outstanding. The portions are large, the fish always fresh, and the original rolls are very tasty and unique. What makes Golden Dragon even more exceptional is its entire staff. Everyone there is friendly and engaging. I've been to other area sushi bars and Japanese restaurants, but it's to Golden Dragon that I return month after month, year after year. read more

Unbelievable.. Chai not only charged us for two items that he completely forgot to serve us but he also charged us for a roll that he screwed up. His excuse was that right before he threw the food away my friend said she would eat it. So he charged us for the new, right order AND the one that was headed for the trash.. This place has nice décor and ambiance, and is also spacious and clean. Whenever I'm in Akron, I always go back here mainly for the sushi and great service. Both the Chinese and Japanese menus have several good selections to choose from. The food will range from okay to great, depending on what you order. Unless this is your preference, I do not recommend the chicken and broccoli. I found it to be very bland. The staff are very personable. The second time I came here, I noticed that our server and one other server remembered us and called us by name. Our server also recognized a guest we had with us, who was visiting from outside the country. Overall, I've always enjoyed coming here and plan to visit the next time I'm in town! read more
