I was out Door dashing with my friend Jason when we wanted some lunch. We both wanted Chinese food so we decided to go to Golden Dragon in Kannapolis NC. The dinning room was empty with only one couple eating there and us. It was nice with the decor but very small. Our waitress was also the casher. She was very friendly and we split a plate of the Mongolian Beef which came with veggies. The food was big enough to split between us but it wasn't very satisfying. The fried rice was crunchy and could of been cooked more and the beef was too chewy for me. All in all was a unsatisfying lunch. read more

I'm so glad we gave this place a shot. We saw mixed reviews online but really wanted to try the food here. Their sesame chicken is lightly breaded, and sauced, and was unique compared to any I've tried elsewhere. Their food is made fresh and you can tell. The Egg roll should really be called a vegetable/cabbage roll as it is mostly cabbage - no shrimp or any meat in them from what I can tell the several times I've had them. I will say the portions aren't what I would call generous. We ate in the restaurant our first time here and I was somewhat disappointed with the amount of chicken and especially the amount of rice on the plate for a dinner portion/combo and the cost.. Don't order the sesame seed chicken. They said it's made with a honey base. It look like sweet and sour chicken. Also the fried rice doesn't have veggies, which threw me off. Customer service was okay. I told them to throw my food away and that it was nasty. She apologized and called me when I got home to refund me my money. They have a sign that says "No refund, or Exchanges" which speaks volumes about the food. But they were kind enough to make an exception for me. read more

I've been trying different Chinese takeout places because let's face it, who doesn't like a good Chinese takeout. I decided to try the Golden Dragon because I pass this place everyday. I got the General Tso and an egg roll. Let me start by saying, that was the best egg roll I've ever had and the General Tso was large pieces of crunchy chicken that had just the right amount of sauce and very flavorful. The waitress was this sweet soft spoken lady that took great care making sure that everything was correct with my order. It was a delicious meal after a long hard day. Small portions, high price, and weird after taste. I ordered the Sa Cha chicken lunch meal. It cost me $9.88 (after having to pay for the egg roll separately- who charges for the egg roll on a lunch special???). I couldn't finish the meal. A weird taste was coming from to the chicken. After moving the chicken out of the way, I couldn't finish eating the rice or vegetables because it all ended tasting like the chicken. Only item ordered was 2 plates of sesame chicken. Both orders contained thin hard pieces of chicken( I think they were cooked yesterday or earlier) covered in flour and fried and then lightly sauced. My kids could not eat it waste of $20. They have lost another customer. What was once an excellent restaurant is no just another cross yours fingers and hope it's decent Chinese restaurant. This is our 2nd visit to this place and it hasn't gotten any better. The fried rice was over cooked to the point of being mushy. The only flavor to it was the excess soy sauce. My Husband had the pepper steak. He said it wasn't bad but he's had better. I had the general tso's chicken. It wasn't good. First off the sauce was red (?), extremely sweet and tasted old-stale. The egg drop soup tasted like it had been fixed yesterday, and the won ton soup was flavorless with mushy won tons. When I called to let them know, I was told that the mistakes could not have been theirs. I was alsso told that it was cold and tasted ooff, because I had taken too loNg to pick it up. I was told 20 minutes, and it took me 23. I not only won't be going back, but I will tell everyone to save their money and time. I have eaten at Golden Dragon for over 30 years! When family comes in to town, they always want to eat there. I just tried to have dinner there. I spent $45 and did not have a sIngle food item that was edible. Everything was old tasting or had a very questionable texture. When we called to let them know, they had the nerve to actually fuss at me and tell me that I didn't know what I was talking about and that if it tasted old it was because I took longer than the twenty minutes to pick up my food - it took me 23. I am so disappointed to learn that I have lost one of the best restaurants in Kannapolis. However, I will NEVER step foot in Golden Dragon again and will actively dissuade others from eating there. Ok so I normally go elsewhere in town, but today they didn't answer the phone so I went with plan B. I have heard good things about Golden Dragon but have never gone here until now. I ordered three entrées to go. I ordered sesame chicken, general tso's chicken and sweet-and-sour chicken. The sesame chicken was different than I'm used to but had a pleasant crunch and sweet taste. I would definitely get it again. The sweet-and-sour chicken was also good, however the sauce was a bit thick and there wasn't enough of it. I got it to go and it was in a little cup. The general tso's chicken(which is normally my favorite) was basically sweet-and-sour chicken with spicy red sauce on it and a little bit of broccoli. Although good overall, I'm not sure I would do this again. I would have gone more than four stars but price was an issue for me. For three entrées and two eggrolls it was over $32. read more

By far the worst chinese food i have every tasted, first off the place always looks like its closed and everything taste weird. My family and i order 4 separate different meals because south china(our usual place was closed) and we will never go here again. The menu had most of the items scratched out, and they also scratched out the prices and jacked them up. The teriyaki chicken was super dry, the egg foo young had zero seasoning and only like 3 shrimps in the whole box or 3 patties. The gravy also had zero seasoning and i normaly would just opt to not use it at other places but they put it and the egg foo young all in the same container so you cant separate it. The food was so bad that we ended up throwing all of it away. If I could give this place zero stars I would because this is the worst place in NC. Do yourself a favor and save your money and time and find somewhere else because you will be disappointed!!!!!!!! read more

The cashier there is very sweet not sure if she is part owner but she walked my food to the car for me because I had my 8 month old with me trying to juggle him and my food. Been eating at Golden Dragon for over 28 years. Never had a bad meal. But new owner is horrible now. What I thought was a piece of chicken was a lump of what tasted like uncooked flour. No taste at all to the chop suey. Husband had chicken low main, no taste at all again. The reason we went there was they didn't use MSG. Been going to this place since I was a kid. I love it. The people that own it are always so nice and remember my family every time we go in. The food is why we keep coming back though. I always get egg drop soup, an egg roll, sesame chicken with white rice and extra sauce, and sweet tea, of course. I've never been disappointed by the quality of the food. The soup is amazing. I'd drink a thermos of that stuff everyday if I could. I'll keep going back as long as I can for sure. read more

Went last night with four adults and two kids. Food is very good for roughly $10 per dish. Shrimp dishes very good value. Our family liked the shrimp and chicken dishes but didn't like the spicy beef dish which was a bit bland. It's an old building and the interior is very plain, but you go here for the good food at very reasonable prices. We'll also use the take out option now we've sampled some dishes. read more
