We ordered the whole steamed fish, happy fish, green beans, tea smoked duck, pork chop, beef pan fried noodles, and more. Every dish was delicious, and the flavors were spot on. It seems that both the pepper steak and chicken with broccoli were in the same sauce (& I've actually found that to be common in this area for some reason) but were tasty overall. The egg roll was quite greasy and the wonton soup was pretty solid with the broth being the star. Oh the white rice was cooked how I expect and wish all Chinese white rice is cooked so that's a plus. Overall a true 3.5 star rating but since halves aren't possible I had to go to 3 because it certainly wasn't a 4.

Another fairly typical urban Chinese/American house on Broad Street in Trenton. My Egg Foo Young was thick and loaded with Veggie and Pork. The Brown Sauce seemed identical to all the others I have tried in such joints. The Pork Fried Rice had the brown tint of beef stock base, and the Egg Roll was mostly cabbage with a bit of something else - perhaps, pork. At least, China Garden seemed cleaner than many of the others. Too, it is obviously a family place because the owner's son was on site and helping out, though he seemed no more than 12. The people are friendly, are fully bilingual, and the prices seem like from the 1990's, perhaps because they have been there so long and making a go of it in part because of the low rent on that strip of Broad Street. It's not the place to take a date, but it is certainly decent enough for a combo lunch or cheap and filling dinner. Garden? Can't see the connection from out front or inside. But, maybe they all fly away to a secret place at night, or have a small cultivated plot out back.
