This is a quintessential hole in the wall Chinese take-out joint that is so stereotypical and grungy, it could legitimately be a portal back to the early seventies. Even the faded wall calendar behind the counter is still celebrating the exploits of Mark Spitz in Munich. Oh right, the food... Tried this place out for the 1st time last week. I ordered chicken and broccoli combo for lunch. It came with an eggroll and pork fried rice. it was very good. the sauce was light and not too much , just how I like it. everything was fresh and the price was good. my new go-to chinese spot. this place seems like it is 98% takeout , but there are a few tables if you wish to eat there. When it comes to Chinese food, it's rare for me to feel dissatisfied. However, I gotta say, this place was pretty disappointing. The food was very bland and lacking in that extra yum factor that usually accompanies Chinese food. We ordered chicken with broccoli, lo mein, fried dumplings, and pork fried rice. None of it was sensational, and as much as I hate to say it, it kinda reminded me of the Chinese food one would get in the food court of a mall. Delivery service was incredibly fast (arriving a full 25 mins before the expected time), but the driver was curt and borderline rude. Review Update - Most of the food is very good but portions just recently got very very small must be new ownership with the same name. Also the menu and Grubhub are conflicting I don't know who's fault that is but the Combo specials recently changed now on Grubhub you have to make a choice the rice OR the egg roll for the combos. WTF Seriously?!?! What Chinese place does that? I have been ordering from here for like 15 years!! Both are always included for that price what a jip and it just changed too. I guess I will be ordering from other places more often. Side not the spring rolls are horrible they are like what you buy out of the freezer section at ShopRite and like an inch long each never again. I've been going here since I moved to the area a decade ago. This is a solid establishment. Quality is ALWAYS consistent, they never have a bad day. I recommend their cold sesame noodles, the fried pork dumplings, the chicken and broccoli. Affordable combo meals come with excellent pork fried rice and delicious egg rolls. Speedy service all the time. There have been times where I've tried other Chinese restaurants in the area, and in my mind they never meet the standard of China King. If you are looking for a fundamental Chinese restaurant that excels at making all of the standard dishes, look no further. And I know that this makes no sense, but for some reason their Diet Coke 2-liter bottles taste better than when I just buy them at Shop Rite. Again, I know that's impossible because they likely just buy their bottles at Shop Rite also. But I'm telling you, it certainly seems like the Diet Coke is better. I hope that comment doesn't cause me to lose credibility in your eyes, I really think this is the best Chinese restaurant in the area and you and your family should be going here. The food tastes fine. If I never walked inside I would have given it a 4 based on the food. The inside is very dirty.. There were bugs and garbage in the front. When you walk towards the Back of the restaurant there's all boxes of food, garbage and drinks. Not sure how they pass inspection read more

The food is not amazing like the nearby Hot Wok Cafe, but better better priced than Elements Asia. China King is a solid choice for take out. I'm going to rate this place as simply a 'take-out joint'. I see no point in trying to compare this to a gourmet restaurant. If you consider it as a local joint to cure your random Chinese food fix, its a 4-star place. All the food I've gotten there is pretty good, and with ample quantity. The cash register lady has always been nice to me, and the place is bigger than your usual takeout spot. You could eat there if you want, but its the kind of place where the cashier comes out and serves you. My top picks for food are - General Tso's chicken, and the Tangerine Beef. I took a chance on this place after seeing it was close to my neighborhood. It's in a shopping center that probably peaked about twenty years ago but is full of various restaurants and shops. I ordered chicken and broccoli, standard fare for an American palate. The order came out fairly quick and came with a small container of rice. The chicken was very tender and obviously had been cooked with the "velveting" technique used by Chinese cooks. The woman at the counter was very friendly and appreciated my business. San Francisco Chinese food beats these restaurants any time! My favorite PORK ROAST & BROCOLLI until suddenly.......something changed! A refrigerated sauce thickens until it is warmed, now that's what the food tastes like, uncompleted warm sauce. If, and when I order it, I will need to warm it in a pan, I like it that much that I am willing to do that. uuuugh! 2nd: SWEET & SOUR CHICKEN, each piece had been deep fried, chicken was tough, the sauce was in a separate container. Simply inedible. Tried it for the third time because of the reviews. We ordered pork with scallions, tangerine chicken, young chow fried rice and pan-seared wontons in hot sauce. The Tangerine chicken was not pan seared, but heavily breaded, deep fried, sickeningly sweet. The wontons were thick, oily and after one bite each, my son and I decided not to finish the ones we bit into. The pork with scallions was another tasteless greasy disaster. I had asked for the dishes to be spicy, no luck here. I guess they don't read the requests on Foodler.com. The only passable dish was young chow fried rice. Bottom line, we have 40 bucks worth of Chinese food which will meet the rubbish bin on garbage day. Neither of us could finish our bowls either. Sadly, third time was Not a charm. read more

I have ordered 2-3 times from here expecting it might be good this time. I love Chinese food but this is not good. It is smelly. I had ordered below items and here is my experience with it: 1. Shrimp with Garlic Sauce : I don't know why they say garlic sauce bcoz it taste like sweet sauce with lots of vegetable. 2. Shrimps with Lobster sauce: This is also with lots of vegetables and it looks like soup more. 3. Steamed vegetables dumpling: worst dumpling ever. I can make it better. 4. Poor delivery service. After an hour waiting by my front door, I missed a call from an out-of-state NY number, which I never answer random numbers as they are usually scams. A few minutes later a car pulls in my driveway and honks. I open the door and he rolls down the window and asks, "did you order food?" I said, "yes," and he replies, "you didn't answer my call," while he holds up my bag of food. The guy never gets out of the car so I walk over to grab the food from the passenger window and he drives off (I already paid online). I eat Chinese food at least monthly. On 12/18/15 I ordered pork lo mein, chicken and broccoli, and won ton soup. Simply stated, it was the best I've had in a really, really long time. The lo mein was perfectly cooked - smooth yet slightly chewy, and not overcooked. The pork was clean and not greasy. And the veggies had crunch. It was harmonious. The won ton soup was fresh and the broth was clean and full of taste. The chicken and broccoli was amazing. The broccoli was steamed just right. The problem with this place is that on some nights, it's "strip mall average" Chinese. But tonight...two thumbs up! read more

I have been ordering from here for some time on takeouts but today is the last of my ordering with them, there was a problem with one of the lunch dishes that I ordered when I opened the dish it was over flowing with white rice and veggies and only 4 very "LITTLE shrimp so I called them to ask if this was the right dish sent the girl who answered was very rude to me when asking & I told her the amount of shrimp she said no we put 13 small shrimp & 6 large but you need to tell which one when talking to us but I told her it was ordered through grub hub on internet and did not show any choices on size of shrimp and she continued to argue about the amount of 13 shrimp in dish and then said I know I work here 13 yrs. so you lie then started laughing at me then said she was sending guy who delivered food back to me to count shrimp, well by this time on phone with her I figured out she was a nut a rude nut at that!! read more
