This is a really beautiful campground. Although I was there on their last night of the season, it was in great shape. The host was very kind and I was able to set up easily near the water and with a great view of the mountains next to the grounds. Restrooms and shower facilities were well cared for. Saw several deer on the grounds while I was there. Some distant traffic noise but nothing too obvious. read more

Located in Colorado Springs Golden Eagle campground and park feels like it's lacking something. OH!!! It is signage to direct you to your site. The map and directions they give you in the office are not very helpful. There's a number of roads in the park simple signs showing what site numbers are on which roads would be great. (or they could have someone lead you in) I myself helped others find their sites because they too got confused trying to find where they're supposed to be. There has been a storm come through and left rocks and mud on already pretty torn up roads. Fishing pond looks much better in the pictures taken by others. The women working in the office are the best! Wish I could say the same for the park. Too much money for what you get read more

We had the most amazing vacation camping at Golden Eagle. From the start, I was looking for a campsite and stumbled onto their website after failing to find anything in the national parks or really anywhere. I called them to book because we had 10 people traveling, and I wasn't sure about the size of each site. The ladies on the phone were so helpful. We booked 2 adjacent sites. When we arrived, it was more of the same thing; the people working in the office, the camp hosts that drove around the campsites, everyone was so friendly, informative, and helpful. They answered questions and explained everything perfectly. I highly recommend camping here. It's also located within driving distance to MANY Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs attractions. We visited Pikes Peak, Garden of the God's, Manitou, the Manotou Springs Cliff Dwelings, and Denver during our stay. read more

So I recently stayed here and I was extremely disappointed. We got there after hours and there are no signs and the maps provided are useless because it's pitch dark. They put me in a site that had bushes on both sides. The electrical box is opposite to the sewage which made things miserable and created my own trip hazard at my front door! The grounds do not look very well maintained. There was a sign of a dog area but the pathway to get there, I would not walk through or let my dog either. Luckily I only had to stayed here 2 nights. This is a great campground if you're looking for that true camping experience. There's not much in the way of luxury accommodation, but there are spaces for every kind of camper (even the kind that want to venture into the woods and not be bothered). The only two things keeping this review from 5 stars are difficulty finding our campsite and the bathrooms being closed periodically without another option close by. We spent several days here, an enjoyed the gorgeous scenic mountain views as well as the beautiful lake. We didn't have a chance to check out the trails, but saw several people coming back from their hike looking very happy. Although I didn't give the full 5 stars, we would definitely stay here again! read more

There were pros and cons to this site. We were there on a Monday night prior to July 4th weekend. The tent sites next to "the lake" were very small and packed next to other sites. Luckily there were not many campers there so we had a little more breathing room. The site does have some great views of the mountains. The shower/bathroom area was clean. Having not seen the campsite prior to checking in, we were asked if we wanted to fish in their lake. We were charged $6/person for a 24 hr period and told there was a 3 fish limit. When we got there, the lake was very low (yes, we know there is a draught with low lake levels across the nation) but thought it would be bigger considering the sales pitch. We could see some fish, but no one there fishing caught anything. We felt kind of ripped off with that. The other thing we would have done differently was brought our own firewood or purchased some at the local stores. We were surprised we were allowed to burn a fire considering all the area state parks had a burn ban. When firewood was offered for purchase, we jumped on it since we love to sit by the fire at night. We were told 8 pieces of wood for $4. When we actually saw the wood, the pieces were very small cut to only about 6" long, so be ready to fork out some money for not much on extras. There was a playground for kids which seemed to be full of activity. We wanted something a little quieter and could hear the squeeling up until 10pm. The biggest negative was the same as one stated by others. Just before dusk while we began to hear loud booms like sonic booms. We couldn't figure out what it was. Then it changed to rapid fire which we thought at first were fireworks since July 4th was a few days away. It kept going throughout the evening and we decided it was related to the Ft. Carson Army Base. But it didn't stop and woke us us repeatedly during the night. We were tent camping, so there was no way to block out the noise that I know for sure woke me up at 1AM and 4AM. So we were grateful to find a spot on a holiday week that allowed us to have a campfire to cook our hot dogs and had some beautiful views with clean amenities, but the nighttime noises and feeling ripped off on the fishing and firewood dampened that somewhat. read more

Lovely views, lots of pine trees. Wonderful staff! The area is clean, quiet and no litter. The roads in and out are horrible. Very rutted and uneven. Not well-maintained. They need to grade them down to level.The sites are not very level. We had to re-hook up our rig just to get a final proper level. The pond was extremely low due to drought conditions and more of a mud hole. We have a large rig and they gave us the deluxe site which offered an extra 'driveway' for visitor parking or second vehicle which we really didn't need. Being an older site, it's a bit rundown here and there. Not good TV reception and not allowed to 'stream'. But we would stay here again if needed. read more

Fraudulent business practices force me to write this review of an otherwise pleasant and enjoyable campground. I can single out the person responsible for manipulating their reservation and billing system to short me about $300 of a refund that several campground employees agreed I was due. Do NOT stay here unless you are 100% sure of the exact number of nights, and do NOT trust in their "finance person" to issue the correct refund for unused nights. Spots are ON TOP of one another and the electrical post is shared. The spaces were not sell thought out for RVS, the electric and sewer were on opposite sides of one another, and we couldn't reach both at the same time. So we ended up having to reverse before we left just to dump. The neighbors dump was less than a foot from our mat, and we are lucky we had a mat because the space outside left much to be desired. We had about a foot of flat, dirt before a small hill started. The neighbors RV was so close with their hookups basically right in front of us, that we couldn't enjoy any time outside. There are lots of full timers and cleanliness of their sites is clearly not enforced. The "lake" is barely a pond that you can pay $7 to fish in, it's been stocked with trout, if you're into that. There is - what they call a playground - with a bunch of old tires and one swingset. Children were climbing all over it and we didn't see anyone taking COVID precautions, except at check in. Also, if you have a large rig there is a HUGE right turn to get into the park and they say it's a two way road but really there is only enough room for one. Also, the water hook ups were deep in the ground making it difficult to connect. Good luck if you are towing and you see someone coming! Idk what you could do! read more

I liked this place. It was near the city which provided options for food and such. The road in was smooth with a 33 foot trailer and easy to check in and out. The camp site isn't quite level which made for a challenge, but we figured it out. There are a lot of people living at the camp site, many have fully rigged up rides and are settled in. It was quite noisy in the evening and the neighbors had a habit of leaving their trailer lights and Christmas lights around the tree on which interrupted my sleep and sucked as I had wanted to see the stars. Other than that, the bathrooms were cleaned several times a day and smelled great. The grass was nice and the hook ups made it a little easier to relax. I would recommend to anyone. read more

Extremely friendly staff and nice, wide sites for big rigs! We had truck trouble and ended up in Colorado Springs for a week unexpectedly. We attempted another campground in Manitou Springs with our fifth wheel, but there was absolutely no way to fit. After a desperate call to Golden Eagle, she was able to arrange for us to stay on a long-term site until we were repaired again. We couldn't be happier with our arrangement! The campground is peaceful and relaxing, and the other campers are friendly as well. The bathrooms are simple and clean. The local attractions are within approx 20 mins, but the serenity at the campground is well worth it. Our kids really enjoyed the May Nature Museum as well. Definitely recommend to other travelers, especially those with bigger campers. read more

Not a good place for kids/families. They cater to the retired and RV crowd. The owner doesn't like kids, quite simply. She sat in her car and watched us because... get this... after it had rained the kids got some mud on the chairs by where there feet would go. According to them it would take them HOURS to clean (it would take me 5 minutes, tops). It wasn't even a lot of mud. After that we were watched for hours, literally, while we roasted marshmallows. Oh, and then we were yelled at for collecting small pieces of wood around our camp to use as kindling. Apparently this takes away from them selling wet firewood. I'm truly sad by this. We have some amazing family memories here. We will never, ever go back. read more

This review is based on a 2 month stay (July & Aug) in a 5th wheel. Customer Service: You can walk by the workers and they won't even look directly at you nor smile. Every time I go in, even after having been there for 2 months, they say "what is your name again?" I've had bigger campgrounds remember my name for a shorter stay. It's just about caring enough. When I got my own fire wood, from the free section of Craigslist, they kept hounding me about it. They have a rule that you can't use any wood from their campground. Valid rule. However, I didn't. Their comments got tiresome. When I went in to check for a package, I found it had been sitting there for some time. I asked if they would be willing to call and the customer rep there said, "um, we'll try." Um, this is a residency, be it short term or long term, and part of that includes mail. Try harder. Location: With traffic it's pretty far away from a decent grocery store. Also, more often than not you will hear frequent booming, explosions and gunfire. Since Carson is right across the street they do it a lot at night, starting at 11pm until even 3am and during the day. Grounds: The roads are absolutely terrible. First, to get to the actual campground you have to make a 180 degree uphill turn on a narrow dirt road. And you can't see if anyone is coming. This is a problem both towing and not. The spots are not even close to level. I travel full-time in my RV and have never had to level out that much. So much that it blew a fuse. We were stuck. They were not helpful when we went looking for an adaptor to borrow for a mere five minutes to help charge the battery, thinking it was the battery at the time. Instead they charged us $30 to only give it right back five minutes later, like we told them. Most other campgrounds have more trust in people and lend it out for those five minutes we needed it for. We moved to a slightly more level spot and two months later when I went into the office for a package, she asked me "Did you get everything all leveled out?" I just said, 'yup.' I wanted to say, 'that was two months ago, couldn't you have cared when it mattered?' They only have one 30 amp and one 50 amp on each power post. You share a post. I saw a few people arrive, set up, only to move because they realized the only 30 amp was taken. It rained so much that it was creating long canyons in a handful of lots, ours included. We waited to see if they would come by to take care of it. They didn't. Worried that it would become a problem when we left, because if our RV hit that ditch it could very well tip over, I finally said something. They covered it up a little and after it rained again and made it worse, they didn't bother coming back to fix it. Bathrooms: The water is randomly hot, if it is. The cleaning staff don't really clean. An older lady comes in early morning and checks if there is toilet paper. I went in after she did fill up the toilet paper but didn't even bother to clean up all of the toilet paper on the floor. All she does is check off a box, not caring about anything else. Also, they only have one bathroom. Their other one is closed and they aren't making any advances to open it. So when the lady 'cleans' from 11-1 you are shit out of luck in going to the bathroom. Also, she doesn't really clean. My husband said he went in right after she was there and there was shit on the floor and a shirt stuffed in a toilet. Laundromat: More overpriced than any campground/RV park I've seen. They sometimes don't finish rinsing, so when you pull your laundry out of the wash it's soaked. They eat your coins often, so you have to trek back down to the office and ask for your money back. Internet/Wi-Fi: The internet here is crap. It goes in and out all the time. If they forked out some cash and got a static IP address, it would help some but they don't. When we called for the reservation I made clear that my husband needs the internet for work. He's doesn't need it all the time, just enough to upload his work. Also for client calls made through the internet. I realize there are internet options out there for full-time RVers (though they are overpriced) but they knew he needed it and were fine with it. And so there were many times he had to call work and tell them the internet is out, or a client call was dropped and when I went in and said what was going on I got a 'that sucks, I'm sorry" response. Instead of a, 'this is how we're working on fixing it..." Don't advertise something you don't have. When you pay for a place you are paying for all of the amenities listed. Other: They just don't care about their campers. Their museum is their top priority. They show it in their customer service, lack of maintenance, and shitty grounds. Even if you go to their shop needing a common essential, that most all campgrounds/rv parks stock, they don't have it because near all they sell is museum stuff. I won't be revisiting nor recommending. read more

We will never stay at this place again. The sites are ok, pretty rustic, not that well maintained but large and have more privacy than most. The staff are really nice and helpful. So, why won't stay again?? A woman in an expensive BMW SUV drove up to our campsite and told my dad to make sure someone was sitting next to our fire in the DESIGNATED fire pit. She yelled this at him several times. She stated that she lived near the campground and didn't want her house to burn down. She does not work for the campground and should seek mental health care. She drove the campground for hours telling campers what to do. Since the camp owners don't report her for trespassing and allow this we will never stay there again. Ridiculous. read more

This place could be awesome if some care or effort was put into it. For the price it's really not worth it. No amenities. The so called lakes are nothing but mud puddles. Stagnant water for breeding mosquitos. The hook ups are not well planned for RV's, power pole on the wrong side, water hook up way up front of the sites not convenient at all. You better plan on bringing extra hoses and extension cords to get by. The "playground" is nothing but huge tires and ruins kids cloths if they play on them. There was a fire ban this year so understandable no camp fires so we brought a propane fireplace which we've used all summer at other campgrounds in Colorado. They wouldn't let us use it here. They said others see it from a distance and then light campfires. That should be explained upon check in and propane fireplaces should be allowed. Also we seen host campers smoking outside and that shouldn't be allowed either. Seasonal campers should be kept away from over night spots. The people who live there for long term, some are such a mess. Vehicles with garbage in them etc. pallets used as decks or steps. They want premium money for a subpar campground. The place could be awesome but we continue to see it decline. Will never say never but really don't think we'll come back. read more

My parents have been staying here for about 8 years now and they like it here. They don't "love" it but they like it. Because it is a rural campground so the sites aren't the level but the ponds are pretty dried up and the roads aren't maintained the best. But the showers are always clean and the laundromat is always clean. The managers and owners of this campground are NOT super friendly and come off as rude sometimes, hell it almost acts like they think you are a burden. But the mountains are beautiful here and there is a ton of wildlife. We have seen turkeys/bears/deer/birds and even mudbugs in the pond. So far though the benefits of this campground has beat out the others. Mainly the prices here are a lot cheaper when place like KOA charge 1k and month and the Air Force Academy won't let you stay longer than 30 days a year. read more

Sites are unlevel, roads are unmaintained, we have 35' fifth wheel don't expect with the premium site to be able to hook up to power, be level, and use water and sewer hookups without extensions at the same time.. Very poorly laid out rv spot. At $60 plus a night it super over priced. Shower broke, handle came out in my hand while turning on what little hot water can be extracted. Exposed piping everywhere. The laundry facility is out of service, shared power boxes so don't plan on getting a 50 amp it's first come first serve. Be prepared to read War in Peace for the camp rules, and watch the camp hosts drive around enforcing them all night. And last but not least don't walk inside your rig to get a drink for fear of the chastising that will occur for leaving your fire unattended for roughly 3mins. Find a KOA and or other place. We drove up super excited to the possibilities of the "finest camping in Colorado Springs". We had a fantastic interaction with all of the staff who were all so nice. However this is not even close to nicest camping. We were surrounded by 3 families that kept walking through our campsite without any regard. Which isn't surprising because the campsites are actually 5 feet apart from each other. Definitely not the nicest camping in Colorado Springs . The owner has been super nice and so has the workers here. Very kid friendly. Obviously no paved spaces. I mean you are on the side of the mountain so there is no way you could have a paved space here. Waking up to the beautiful view of the mountains as well as so much wildlife here is so soothing. This is a very family friendly park. The pond is stocked with very big trout. The kids loved fishing. I would definitely recommend this campground to anyone for wonderful memories to be made here. read more

Would not recommend staying here to anyone. They should put a warning on their website that there is a very tight turn coming in for any new, nervous RV drivers. The spots are just dirt and completely uneven. The spots are also ON TOP of each other. The electrical outlets for us and the people next to us we're on our spot, meaning the two different people who were next to us during our stay were touching the same stuff we were. Not only that, there was maybe 2 feet of distance between spots on each side. They should have been placing people in every other spot with how close their spots are considering we're in a PANDEMIC! The first set of folks had chickens who would wander into our spot - the employees of the camp ground saw there were chickens and didn't say anything to the folks or ask them to remove them from our side of the camp spot. Overall a really bad park to stay at, the views were minimal and not worth all of the other awful attributes. Finally, the layout of the spot was insane, we couldn't be connected to power without an extension cord, couldn't fit to our sewer dump, and the water spout was like 6 inches into the ground on another person's camp site. Very very very uneven camping sites! Paid for 3 nights and left after the first night! Did not feel safe at all. Loud booms all night long and could hear people talking at 2:30 Am. Could not get RV leveled no matter what! All electrical hookups are on the right side of RV so you have to run an extension cord across your campsite. Very primitive and dark! We cannot recommend this RV Park. There is nothing more disappointing than planning a vacation for months, just to arrive at your RV Park & find this-very rough, unlevel roads & sites. But the worst was to find out that the 50 amp site we thought we had booked is actually a shared electric box. It is first come who gets the 50 amp & guess what? That wasn't us !! We had my daughter, SIL & 2 grandkids join us, so 6 in RV, which we paid extra for but we could only run 1 AC at a time. We threw the breaker several times just running normal things in the RV. The "full service" site we booked does have sewer but you better bring extra , extra sewer hose to reach. Staff was nice. read more

If you are interested in this campground for tenting, I would probabley look elsewhere. We visited late July 2013 and the tent sites were small, overgrown and had no grates for grilling (bring your own). Location is a plus and a minus. It is near many tourist attractions but, it is also very near Fort Carson Army Base. You will hear and be awoken very early (4 AM) by the many drill sounds that include machine guns, loud speaker drill yelling, and warning signals during the day. If you are interested int his site for fishing, the lake has no water and only a puddle of water. Beware of the mosquitos. The shower houses however were clean and I would imagine it is a great spot to RV. read more

We called after seeing basic photos online. We were told they had a pool. They do not have a pool. We had planned to extend camp for 3 weeks so we wanted to have some pretty basic/simple amenities. Staff is unprofessional and one of the "camp host" hit me in the face after entering my camp and removing my dog. I couldn't make this up! She legit hit me in the face! We left that day after 2 weeks and got a refund for the rest of the days we paid for. While getting our refund in the main office there was another individual getting a refund. Unknown for what reason. If getting smacked in the face wasn't enough. We paid for 20 amp Power hook up and only got 15. My understanding is even the 30 amp hook ups only allow for 20amp. They false advertise to get people in. The grounds are not well maintained. The kids park is overgrown and not taken care of. Broken glass everywhere. You can find better camping for the prices they charge. read more

We've done a lot of camping and we really liked this campground! It was quiet, peaceful, clean, and has the amenities we like (water, showers, electricity). It's set in a pretty location with lots of trees and a pond. The staff members we interacted with were so friendly and made us feel very welcomed at the campground. I am not one to write reviews but after our stay at Golden Eagle Ranch I thought my review may be helpful to others looking for a campground. This was not at all what we expected. We made the best of it and had a great time but I would not return to this campground. Overall the campground has not be maintained. The roads are rutted out and there is practically no privacy between sites. Most of the picnic tables are in really bad shape. We actually had to walk around to empty sites and find a better one. I believe we stayed in site 421. A few spaces up from us was a huge dilapidated trailer that was most certainly an eyesore. Not the "view" we were looking for. In addition to that... there appeared to be lots of other old equipment and "stuff" just scattered around the campground. When I made our reservations I was excited to have such nice lakes right on the campground. The photos you see online are NOT up to date. The lakes have not been maintained. The campground map says there are 5 lakes. We saw 1 that was completely dried up and the other was about 12 feet low and not pretty to look at. I never found the other 3. Overall I would NOT recommend this campground. It has such great potential but unfortunately it does not live up to it. We drove by Cheyenne State Park while we were there and it was a BEAUTIFUL NEW campground! We will most certainly stay there if we return to the area. read more

The campers behind be are partying into the night. They told me to pack up and leave when I asked them to keep it down. I have been up all night because of their noise. We were excited about the location and for the price, expected the grounds to be well kept! Colo. Springs had been getting afternoon showers for several days and the grass was ankle High !! We have a small dog m he had trouble getting around. The water in the shower would go from cold to very HOT in seconds... this was 10 p.m. It was so hot I jumped out of the shower n fell off a narrow step right outside the curtain. We WILL NOT be back ! The campsite was deluxe,which meant two pull through campsites side by side. One for your camper the other guest parking, picnic table n fire pit . Came in our 2nd nite, to Maintance staff working on the sewer.(someone up from us had put towels, and bulk in the sewer line) it backed up and was running over the grounds to were u had to walk through it to get into g-sons car, and to get to the door of the camper , it was after 10 pm before the plumber arrived. We couldn't use the fire pit, the smell was So Bad. This went on for three days m two nights. We were unable to utilize the full campsite and ask if they couldn't make an adjustment on our account. We had reservations for 5 nites . They gave us a $25 credit. Because of the size of our 5th wheel u don't just move it to a different site. The Staff was unaware that I worked with Ft Carson, by giving my recommendations for other RVers and further planned trips with a youth shooting club, that could bring in approx. 300-500 travelers. Your loss, Golden Eagle. Next time you may not be so greedy n be more concerned with the comforts of your Guest. I have to agree the friendliness and concerns of staff was lacking read more

We stayed here to use the bathrooms, showers and laundry. Saturday night there where signs on the doors of the buildings saying they were closed until Sunday. Sunday morning they were still closed. I called to complain and request a refund, and was told if we spent the night, no refund. I replied we are only here until 11 am, specifically to do laundry. Again, the reply was you stayed, you pay. Horrible customer service, didn't deliver on the only reason we came here. read more

The Golden Eagle campground is a rustic and inviting campground. The lake offers fishing, the large campground offers walking, hiking, biking and opportunities to see wildlife. Our children love this campground and the surrounding area. We tent camp and go to this campground at least 4 times a year and find the water and electrical connections at some of the tent sites to be a great convenience! We've never had a bad experience. The ladies who man the office are so nice and accomodating to us and all of our children (5). We've had wonderful experiences through the years at this campground and would recommend it to any one wanting a great camping experience. The Bug museum is fantastic and worth the time. The Space Museum, though basic, is great for kids and adults alike. We'll be back soon for further fun. read more

Our family really enjoyed staying here. The staff is very friendly and they are amazing!!! The campground is clean and well maintained. The bathrooms are kept clean and showers are clean with wonderful hot water. We had a choice of going to another campground that offered 2 free nights of camping with tour but we enjoyed our surroundings so much we didn't want to leave. It's quiet and the views are just breathtaking. The price is reasonable and fair. We will most definitely be back hopefully for a long term stay in Colorado Springs!!!! read more

We stayed here for 2 weeks out of necessity. We had stayed at this campground 12 years ago and remembered a rustic park with comfortable walking paths up into the mountains. It appears to me as if they have not reinvested any money into the park in the past 12 years. They (supposedly) only had 2 sites available for us, one had a six inch rut from the rainy season along one side and the other was barely long enough for our 37 foot trailer. We took the second due to safety reasons. The grass was 6 inches tall and was finally mowed a week after we arrive. We have 2 dogs that we walk twice a day and noted that there were longer, more level sites that were never used the entire 2 weeks we were there. My biggest complaint is the roads,iwhich are covered with small gravel mixed with coarse sand. If there is a large pothole, they throw rocks in it. There are front loaders around but you never see anyone using them. Trucks with the name of the park are driven through the park but I never see anyone doing anything. This is a park that is only interested in collecting your money but giving you little in return. I definitely will not be returning and have already advised other people not to frequent this park. read more
