I submitted a quote request through Golden Hands' website and promptly received a quote from Dani. The quote was extremely reasonable and Dani also patiently answered my questions about exactly what his quote would cover. After I decided to hire Golden Hands, it was extremely easy to schedule an appointment, and Dani even agreed to come out on a Saturday morning. He was very punctual and worked quickly and efficiently to re-key five locks. Before he left, he gave me the opportunity to try the re-keyed locks, which seemed to work perfectly. After Dani left, one of the locks seemed to be a little wonky, so I gave Dani a call and he promptly turned around and came back to resolve the issue. I locked myself out of my apartment and Danny had me back in less than 45 minutes later. When he arrived, I double-checked that the estimate I had on the phone was the same as he was planning to charge (no hidden fees) and it was, so ignore any comments about "fleecing." Service was amazing and fast - so fast it was a little unnerving how quickly he got into my apartment. And he looked genuinely concerned when he asked if the deadbolt also needed to be unlocked as well, although I think he was more worried about the accuracy of the estimate he had given me than the ramifications of someone who was claiming to have accidentally deadbolted the door without keys. I almost want to lock myself out of my apartment again to see Danny's efficiency at work, or at least to have an excuse to let him know that I will double the price if anyone else asks to get into my apartment. read more

We bought an apartment in DC and decided to have the entry doorknob re-keyed because we didn't like the idea of previous owners possibly still having access to our apartment. The apt also had a deadbolt in the front door but the previous owner never gave us a key for it. Danny came over on the same day that we called him. He re-keyed the knob and then re-keyed the deadbolt so that they both work with the same key. He was polite and professional and charged us the same fair price that he had quoted over the phone. I was able to pay with my credit card via his mobile phone dongle too. Very convenient! I've recommended him to our apartment manager as a name to give other tenants in the building if they need locksmith services. Yes, as good as it gets! These are professionals that exude calm during those frazzled moments you and I have all experienced. This weekend, I noticed that one of my exterior doors contained a dead...:).... deadbolt. The locksmith was at my door within an hour of my call. He examined the lock and quickly discovered that the deadbolt was functioning. Apparently, if you have a one-way lock (my deadbolt dates back to the 1940s), there is a mechanism that you can trigger to ensure that it remains unlocked. I must have released that trigger unknowingly. Anywhoo, he was extremely kind and said there would be no charge. And away he went to save the next person. Thanks Golden Hands :)! read more

I was completely ripped off by this place. After Omar gave me a quote for $110 to replace a cheap knob and handle, I told him for that price I'll do it myself. He then proceeded to tell me there is a $40 service charge for sending him out to my house. I decided to get the lock with the peace of mind that it was under a three month warranty. I was told that if the lock was broken again, for any reason within the 3 months, they would replace it. Needless to say, they didn't. They now claim that they only fix locks if they break on their own. Completely rude when I called the 1-800 number. At all costs, AVOID THESE SCAM ARTISTS! read more

I recently moved to a new place and wanted to have the locks changed for added security. I called a couple of different places and Danny was able to schedule me on the same day. I had three doors, each with knobs and deadbolts- and only one key- which didn't fit all of the doors. Danny let me know it would take a little longer, but he could pick the other locks so they could all be re-keyed. An hour later, Danny had all six locks re-keyed and ready to go- so I only one key, and all with a reasonable price. I'll definitely call if I ever need a locksmith. read more

When I explained my problem, Dani gave me clear pricing information and a description of the work they would need to do. He was exactly on time (after he had called 30 minutes prior to appointment to reconfirm). Danny came out within an hour on a Saturday to repair 2 broken locks. He replaced one in less than 10 minutes but the deadbolt lock proved more difficult. He asked if he could come back later with different parts to try to repair it instead of replacing it because it was a very expensive lock. He came back with the parts on Sunday and was able to give me a $29 solution to the deadbolt problems. He was professional, on time, solution focused and worked quickly. They showed up within 30 minutes, even during rush hour traffic. They guy was super nice, efficient, and only charged me $110. He tried to pick the lock, but our super-secure locks couldn't be picked, so he drilled the thing out and replaced it and gave us new keys for free.
