This wasn't a traditional deadbolt, the locking mechanism goes up the entire length of the door. Dani was able to fix it, making us able to go in and out the main door again. I recently moved into a new home, and compared quotes from three different locksmiths in the area. While Golden Hands Locksmith has a high service charge, they were overall the most affordable (and responsive!). Dani responds very quickly, and upon explaining the lock/ key situation, he provided me with the easiest and most affordable option. He came 10 minutes early, with my permission (which worked out great for me), and within 15 minutes was finished rekeying my door. I appreciated that they were responsive on Yelp, friendly, and were good at communicating, but there were some issues with the actual job. They did not have the necessary component or equipment required for my specific lock on the first day (which was ok and I understand), so they had to come in again the next day. However, I had requested 4 keys (one control key and 3 keys) and ended up with 1 control key, 1 good key, and 1 "ok" key. One key works well, but the other one wasn't cut as well and requires a bit of wiggling in order to open the lock. They also mistakenly brought/were given a key that could not be cut for the 4th, so I got no 4th key. I was told that I could easily take the master key to another store to make a copy, but that was not the case. It took visits to 3 different stores (home depot, etc.) before I found a store that could actually make a copy of the key I should have gotten in the first place. I did not mind the extra time it took to complete the job, but I only got 2 good keys out of the 4 I was expecting. I do not understand why an extra key was not brought in case a mistake was made and ended up having to spend additional time and effort, which was a hassle. read more

Price quoted = price paid. No hidden fees. I called over 5 places for a quote to rekey my lock. Some other places seemed like they had more attractive prices, but upon confirming the price several times over the phone, I would hear the words "and labor" pop up in the quote. Yeap, other places will quote you $XXX (service call ie fee to go to you) + $YYY (specific job fee) + labor. What is this "labor" fee? Apparently it "depends"! Which is code for whatever the guy feels like charging you after he's worked on your lock and you can't refuse to pay him. Danny quoted me a total of $85. I asked him if there will be any other surprise charges and he said no. "You will be paying me $85 and that's it." he said. He gave me 3 keys (the standard is 2), and also spent time expanding the hole in my door frame since the deadbolt wouldn't open/close smoothly. And yeap, no extra charges for all that. read more

When I called them for an estimate they gave clear straightforward pricing that was half of what another company quoted me, and still well below what the other company was even able to offer when they tried to match them, and the other company was trying to say this wouldn't be the real price, but it WAS! The other company had come for an estimate and wasn't willing to commit to a final price but left all sorts of wiggle room for increasing the rate, whereas Golden Hands Locksmith told me the price for everything over the phone and stuck to it completely when they did the job! I called about 7:40 on a Sunday morning, set up an appointment to fix/replace a deadbolt lock that kept jamming, technician came exactly on time that same morning, first attempted to rig up a fix to save me money, then when that didn't work, he left and quickly returned with a new lock and installed it quickly at a reasonable price. He said he'd be there in an hour. He was on time. He said the price for my job should be "about" $155. After 30 mins, I asked is this job still $155, he said Yes, but charged $10 extra... No problem though because he had to stand outside for a LONNNNNG time to get this job done, it took longer than expected cuz I had a missing part in the lock that prolly contributed to the problem & delay. If I get locked out again, I won't bother with the other 5 star guys cuz I contacted about 4 of them before via email and they either didn't respond OR they emailed me back saying "give them a call" even though I clicked the option that says Request a Quote and was very detailed in explaining what I needed done.
