Brown stew chicken with vegetable rice and cabbage.
Desiree H.

Wasn't impressed with the meal or 1 particular staff member attitude. 2nd time trying food at this franchise and neither location did it for me. Pricey and not very tasty compared to some of the other local favorites. Perhaps it was the brown stew dish particularly or the fact that it was dark meat. To each his own!

Oxtail (Side Only)

The Ox tails are delicious! Fall off the bone tender with great Jamaican flavor. Three stars for me only because the Mac n Cheese was very bland and small on top of a small portion. Chocolate cake was decent could've been more moist. The Ox tails made up for the other two.

(I rarely give 5 stars so 4 is pretty good.) Bright, busy new location of the NY chain located near BJ's just south of 540. Staff is entirely masked, as are most of the customers. Limited indoor seating and pre-ordering available. The staff is super friendly, polite, and helpful. We tried: Spicy beef and curry chicken patties - excellent. Curry goat - tasty, good amount of heat, and not too bony Brown stew chicken - nothing really wrong, just not my favorite rendition locally. A little sweet tasting. Salt fish and ackee - on the breakfast menu but may be available later in the day. I'm not into salt fish, but it got good reviews. All meals ordered were Small and the servings were very generous. Meals come with rice and 2 sides. We opted for rice and peas, which were very flavorful, steamed cabbage, which needed a little salt, and fried plantains, which are what they are, which is to say sweet and delicious. The salt fish came with dumplings, which had a warm spice flavor. Escovitch fish is cooked to order and takes about 20 minutes so ordering ahead would be a good move. The restaurant also has various Jamaican beverages and baked goods.

I'm not a fan of anything too spicy or extreme on the heat level but Golden Krust's Chee-Zee Beef Patty was soooo good. Too good actually because I went and ordered another one! The perfect flaky crust and the delicious filling with the perfect amount of spice. Not too overpowering. Which I loved. We also ordered the Curried Chicken Roti ( eating soon! ) The workers were so friendly and patience with us as we ordered. They greeted us with a smile and helped us in a timely fashion. This location has plenty of seating, great music playing at a reasonable volume, plenty of parking, and two TVs as well playing a range of things. The ambiance was very welcoming, open, and inviting that we sat down to eat for a little while. Can't wait to try other things on the menu!

the service is always fast and the people are friendly. I absolutely love their ackee and saltfish but the curry goat.....terrible. It has the be the nastiest Ive had in Raleigh. The taste is off and the aftertaste is even worse. I will stick to the breakfast

Browned chicken with rice, cabbage and plantains

Browned chicken with rice, cabbage and plantains. This was my first time eating here and I wasn't disappointed at all. Great service, clean restaurant and good food. I asked for the extra sauce. Although it was good I won't recommend it since it comes with enough.

Delicious! I had been craving some oxtails and was in the area and decided to give Golden Crust a try. I am so glad I did, the amount of food, and flavor was perfect for me. I will gladly drive 30 mins to this spot anytime. The server was patient as I made my choices they had so much to choose from, lol. I was very impressed at the cleanliness. I'm totally going back!

Being new to the south I didn't know how things are completely different than you north and that includes the food. I've heard stories about golden crusts up north so I never even thought to try them once I moved down here. BOY was that a mistake lol. Me and my partner were running some errands and we wanted a nice bite to eat, golden crust was in the area and after checking the menu from our fellow yelpers we decided to head over there and grab some patties and a roti. We ordered a jerk chicken patty, cheeze Beef patty and a curried chicken roti. The roti is made to order so unknowingly we did a smart thing by ordering two Patties and a roti because once we were done with our patties our roti was coming right out. Those Patties were De-Lic-ious, if you are a fan of some heat you'll love the jerk chicken patty, the dough was crispy and flaky, the jerk mixture wasn't to wet that it messed the dough up it was delicious. The cheeze beef was amazing, the cheese was melted and mixed in with the beef so there was no bite that you didn't get cheeze beef. They were so good that we thought about getting two more patties but we waited and good thing we did. This chicken roti was amazing. The chicken just fell apart as you ate it, it was full of flavor like it's been stewing in the curry for hours, legit fall of the bone tender. This was perfect for us to share but you can easily get one for yourself as a meal. Chicken roti and some rice and beans and you'll have enough for leftovers for lunch the next day. I will for sure be a frequent customer as golden crust I have my eye set on trying a few more patties and a few more rotis and I know if it's anything like the food we had it's going to be really good.

The toasted sourdough was a nice touch for sopping up bites. The fried okra was a standout--lightly battered, bright green inside, and not soggy (a minor miracle) The chicken tenders had a peppery cornmeal breading that stayed crunchy and paired well with the dipping sauce. But the most nostalgic part was the warm biscuit split open with peach jelly--sweet, sunny, and the perfect finish! Overall: Comfort food done well, generous portions, great textures, and totally worth the visit

As a foodie from the Bay Area who's been spending more time in the Southeast for work, I've been on…read morea bit of a personal mission to understand and appreciate Southern cuisine. It's been an interesting journey--because while I absolutely respect the tradition, my palate has definitely evolved over the years toward lighter, more elevated, visually beautiful food. That said, sometimes you just have to lean in and experience the classics. Tupelo Honey had been on my list for a while, so during a recent work trip to Raleigh-Durham, I decided to check it off. The location is in a very nice, upscale area--one of those shopping districts where, if you see a Whole Foods nearby, you know the neighborhood is going to be polished, safe, and easy to navigate. Parking was simple in a lot across the street, and since I had a reservation, I was seated quickly on the patio, which was lovely and comfortable. For starters, I ordered the "biscuits for a cause," which is a nice touch knowing the proceeds support employee relief and development funds. They were warm and classic Southern biscuits--exactly what you'd expect. For my entrée, I went with the honey-dusted fried chicken (dark meat), a true Southern staple. It was well prepared, flavorful, and satisfying, especially if you're in the mood for something hearty and traditional. I also tried a cocktail called "The Debutante," which was pleasant and refreshing, and finished the meal with the butter pecan cheesecake for dessert. Overall, the meal was good--solid, reliable Southern comfort food--but if I'm being completely honest, it wasn't particularly memorable for me. I was traveling for work and dining on a per diem, so it checked the box for a dependable dinner in a convenient location. As a larger regional chain, it feels a bit like a rite of passage when you're spending time in the Southeast--something you try once to understand the landscape. Bottom line: Tupelo Honey delivers classic Southern comfort food in a polished, accessible setting. Service was smooth, the patio was pleasant, and everything was executed well. For me personally, it was a good experience--but not one I'd necessarily go out of my way to repeat. Still, as I continue eating my way through the Carolinas and beyond, I'm glad I gave it a try.

The place was crowded but there was no wait. I got seated immediately at a table near a column in the middle of the restaurant and Christy came over and asked if I wanted anything to drink. She brought me iced water and gave me time to look at the menu. I wanted to try so many things and I was too optimistic about ordering 3 things and finishing them myself. Good thing I only ordered 2 things! An order of fried catfish with home fries and one egg. And a biscuit with sausage gravy. The fried catfish was salted and well fried. It tasted delicious for my first bite! The home fries were basically cut potatoes, but they weren't very fried or flavored. I wished I ordered the side of apple sauce instead. The biscuit and sausage was good, but a bit too much for one person after eating a separate order already. Definitely bring more people so you can try more things. Also, I wished I had asked for sausage gravy on the side so I can try the biscuit on its own first as well. Furthermore, I would have more time to eat the catfish so I wasn't worried about the biscuit getting soggy. Christy came to check up on me every now and then. The place was buzzing with people and decorations so I didn't feel so alone. When it was time to pay, Christy brought me the check for me to pay at the cash register. Both Christy and the cashier were so friendly! The restaurant does have a women's and a mens restroom if needed.
