Jerk Masters is definitely one of those "don't judge a book by its cover" spots . The area can feel a little sketchy, but listen...the food is GOOD. I've had several things from here and they rarely disappoint. The jerk chicken is flavorful and seasoned well, the chicken wings are really good, and I absolutely love their coco bread--especially with one of their beef patties. They also have curry chicken, which is another solid option if jerk isn't what you're in the mood for. My only complaint is the wait. Depending on when you go, you may be standing there a little longer than expected, so I wouldn't necessarily come if I was in a serious rush. But once you get your food? Worth it. The portions are good, the flavors are there, and it has that authentic Caribbean comfort-food feel. I've been more than once and will definitely continue going back. Quick and fast service. They do not allow you inside during covid. The guy will come to the door to take your order and collect payment. Waited about ten minutes for the food which wasn't bad. Jerk Masters is putting together some great food at a super good price. As a broke grad student, I appreciated the portion sizes that Jerk Masters has. You're definitely getting your bang for your buck if you get a plate and cabbage for lunch. It'll cost you less than 10 bucks. For my meal, I got the jerk chicken with dark meat and rice and peas as my side. The jerk chicken was seasoned well with their spice blend, the skin was crispy and delicious, AND the meat wasn't dry. The rice was really good but it was definitely kicked up a notch when I added some of their jerk sauce, which by the way is the bees' knees. You gotta put some of that on your chicken. Be careful with how much sauce you use though; If you're not very good with spicy foods, it might be on the spicier/hotter side of foods to eat especially as you keep eating it. I also got their Jamaican beef patty. If you've never had that, it's like a flakey turnover-like pastry stuffed with beef usually that's been spiced and seasoned very well to. The pastry was amazing. The meat wasn't salty and the flaky crust was very. The people are great, and the food is great. Nothing more needs to be said but sefinitely check out this place if you're in that area. I have to give Jerk Master 5 stars because they truly have the best Caribbean food that I've tasted in the Wake County area in the past 5 years. Their jerk chicken is just spicy enough, without being overwhelming. The jerk seasoning is very flavorful and tastes authentic as well. The chicken is also very tender and far from dry. I will say that I don't necessarily like the idea of the barbecue sauce on top, but I suppose it helps even out the spicy flavor for some people. I've been a regular for the takeout here in the last few months. While it may not look like much from the outside, I love this place! The people there are always friendly, the food and service has been consistently good, and it reminds me of the home cooking I miss from growing up in the Caribbean. The portion sizes are ample, and one large order is normally enough for two or more meals for me. Normally I get the curried chicken or curried goat platter with cabbage and either the rice and peas, or mac and cheese. I do tend to add a bit more hot sauce of my own when I take it home since I like more spice myself, but my wife thinks their spice level is perfect for her taste.
