Food was not as good as I thought or hoped the chicken tasted like it was re warmed and parts were not chewable . The jerk sauce was similar to teriyaki sauce with a hint of jerk . Basically water jerk sauce . Service was service you order they prepare . The Mac n cheese was not as good as I thought compared to others Jamaican restaurants . I drove from 35 minutes passing my normal spot to get this . I was kinda disappointed but maybe it was just an off day even at my regular restaurant they have an off day every so often but 2.5 out of 5 I gave em 3 stars because I could half . Rice was good they added gravy on it that was basically the only thing I enjoyed . The chicken could have been good if it was old re cook tasting . They need to re configure the sauce it was good but watery . I will return one more time to make sure my review is correct . But give them a visit and try ur self . read more

Ordered the oxtail and jerk chicken platter, chicken was dry and not much flavor, oxtail was completely flavorless, only thing that was good was the rice. This is not how jamaican food is supposed to taste. Will never order again. read more

Delicious! Love the jerk chicken and the sauce (that comes on the side) is fire! This trip was to introduce a few folks new to the area and lunch was an awesome way to do it. This location has a wonder lunch special Monday - Friday from 11-2:30pm. The curry chicken, oxtails and beef patties all are tasty A must try when in Raleigh. Plenty of parking and the customer service is good. read more

I have had their food in the past and it has always been good. I walked in today and was the only customer in line he restaurant. 2 women, one younger and one older, totally ignored me. I made a comment and still ignored me. The guy in the kitchen was watching the whole time. The older woman, the one at the computer, never lifted her eyes but it would have been impossible to not have seen me. I may try again at some point but that absence of customer service is a problem. This is no longer the only option for Jamaican food. read more

Dat gyal and I were craving some Caribbean food, and finding good, authentic Jamaican cuisine in this area can be challenging. However, I must say, the food here exceeded our expectations. The chicken was tender and flavorful, though I felt it could have used a bit more jerk seasoning. The mac and cheese paired perfectly with the rice. My friend had the oxtail and loved it at first bite, but she found the meat tougher as she continued eating. One highlight was the beef patty we shared on the way home--we were both disappointed we only got one because it was so delicious." read more

Jamaican Grille - Curry and Jerk Chicken Sampler - Caribbean Near Me - Raleigh, North Carolina

Very authentic! The beef Patties are unmatched! Never a long wait and have many, many selections that are all equally delicious. Cabbage ( which I was looking forward to) needs work. Very bland and flavorless but everything else I've tried so far has been good. Traditional drinks and snacks like, kola champagne , ting and spice buns available too. The oxtails and rice and peas were to die for! read more

So this is a "Large" brown Stew Chicken. I'll start with the portions. There was very little chicken on the plate. I have been to MANY Jamaican restaurants. On a "Large" plate, there is plenty enough for 2 or more meals. I was clearly able to eat this in one setting. The food also lacked flavor. I had to add salt 3X while eating. I also added some jerk sauce to the chicken. Definitely another first for Jamaican food. Overall, I could have cooked better food at home. I will not be going back read more

*This is only a review of the patties, not the rest of the food* This is the place to go for Jamaican patties! The veggie patties are toasty and the filling is delicious. They are not spicy at all and they're a great food to grab when you're in a hurry but you want something hearty and 'homemade'. Just one is enough for me but if you're especially hungry, order two. They also have chicken and beef patties. At $2 each, they are a great deal and I stop in every time I pass by! read more

Been here many times since moving, always great. Sometimes it ain't quick, but that's how you know it's good

Literally the best jerk chicken I've had from a restaurant. The sauce that came with was so fricken good. I grew up eating Jamaican food and the plantains brought me back to grandpas kitchen. There is nothing to criticize it was literal perfection. I'd give this place a million stars if I could. Definitely check this place out. read more

The oxtails were some of the best I've ever had, but the people who work there look like they'd sooner cut you than help you. Personality of a wet rag and not one smile to be found. Unfortunate because the food is delicious. read more

Yes! I came here and the chicken curry swept me off my feet. It's more broth like style hit all the right taste buds, and wasn't overly salted or riddled with spices. The patties were so fun to try. I just wish I wasn't so far away or I'd go more often. read more

This is quite a find for me! Seriously! I happened to come around to the dive shop a bit early, so while I was waiting for my class to begin I strolled around this shopping center, which I have been once or twice for hooka and shooting pool. WHO KNEW in this almost abandoned shopping center across from the movie theater, there lies some authentically delicious Jerk Chicken! Well, Jamaican food is not all about jerking (sorry I cannot resist) and there are a few other choices as well on the menu here. I highly recommend Curried Goat. Curry? Jamaican? I know! But it's very delicious. I would actually stop in weekly from now on just to get a side order of fried plantain alone! Hope they keep this place around. Oh, when you see size "small" on the menu, what that really mean is packed full of a TO-GO lunch box! I might have to see what the LARGE size is all about. read more

I ordered Jerk Chicken & it was burnt chicken with some variation of a Kerk sauce on the side. The cabbage was over cooked and the plantains wasn't sweet. I have yet to find a great Jamaican Restaurant in NC!! read more

Stopped in here just after 1p.m. The restaurant was completely dead. The guy at the register was super friendly and attentive- especially when I asked him for suggestions as to what I should order. Being bajan myself, this is the first caribbean restaurant I've tried since living in Raleigh, and it did not disappoint. I ordered the stewed chicken meal, which came with a side of veggies and rice. I ordered the "lunch mini" size, which offered a generous portion of food for the reasonable price of $6.99 (drink included). The chicken was so tender that it just fell off of the bone, and the spices used to season the meat/meal were incredibly flavorful without being overbearing. The food was served hot and it was served quickly (less than a 3 minute wait). The only downside was that they do not take American Express (I wanted to charge it on the company card). The atmosphere is typical of a Jamaican restaurant (based on my previous experience eating at various caribbean restaurants throughout Brooklyn, NY). The decor is simple, and the restaurant was clean. That wasn't much in the way of food items displayed in the cases, but what I did eat tasted fresh and delicious all the way around. They also cater. I'll definitely be back! read more

We got the small oxtails and the curry chicken. It only took a few minute and the woman working the counting brought it right to our table. Khadija (I think that's her name) was really sweet and knowledgeable about the food they had and didn't have. We wanted roti and they didn't have it which was fine since its soo labor intensive. The oxtails were delicious they were nice and hot and came with rice and peas and vegetables (cabbage with carrots). The food was perfectly seasoned with the oxtails having just the right amount of meat on them. The curry chicken was the same. Hot and delicious, just the right of seasoning. It airs on the side of being more liquid based like Indian curry than any Jamaican curry I have ever had. On the way out we ordered a mini lunch special of jerk chicken and beef patty with coco bread. The beef patty was perfect! I wasn't too impressed by the jerk chicken. It tasted like very well seasoned rotisserie chicken and not smoked like most jerk I've had. Overall it was a good experience and we would definitely go back. read more

Lots of flavor just the way I like it. Loved the rice and vegetables. Best steamed veggies I've ever had. I'm a meat and potatoes kind of guy but they season the veggies and and there was just so much flavor I kept digging in for more. I got the combo and was lots of food. Quit place that deserves your business. read more

Always on the look out for ethnic food that lives up to my fantasy, I stumbled upon Jamaican Grille after reading a rav on Yelp. Needless to say I was curious. The space is a decent size with tables for eating but no real entertainment (TV, music) for ambiance. I was fine with that because I could carry on a conversation with my lunch buddies without shouting. I tried the curry chicken and jerk chicken. One of my party ordered the oxtails. Wow. Talk about jumping right in. Both dishes were incredible. I LOVE curry and Jamaican Grille did not disappoint. The jerk seasoning was on point. Both are served with rice and beans, cooked cabbage and plantains. Um. Umm. Ummm. The dish comes as a small or large serving. The large is enough for two. Jamaican Grille is across from a Carmike movie theater so dinner and a movie is in my future. You can also order takeout which I've done several times. It's worth the drive to get it. read more

I decided to try this place for the first time because it was 4 stars and reviews were good. I wanted jerk chicken and they were out so I tried the curry chicken. The portion size was good and the food was hot but the chicken taste really bland especially considering Jamaican food is always so flavorful. I'm shocked. Although everyone have different taste buds, what I got tonite can't be what everyone is raving about. I don't know what happen in the kitchen. read more

Good beef patties. Oxtail was tasty but could have been more tender and benefit from adding a broad bean. Nice service.

The other day I had a craving for curry goat and this low key Jamaican restaurants was what yelped recommended. It's in a roadway I never go through and would never believe restaurants/stores would be in this block. I must say I was very satisfied! The goat was tender, seasoned to the T, cabbage great and rice and peas were properly cooked. I will return very soon read more

My mommy loves the beef patty. I always order the plantains. The plantain was delicious. Family loved the ox tails and jerk chicken. They don't know how to make a good a roti at all. This location is not bad but it's not my favorite place. I like to find authentic food. This place is not always packed and that is not a good sign to me. Love the food here! My favorite entree is the Curry Chicken and the plantains are always so sweet! Delicious.

What a surprise this place is? This place is nestled in a quiet side of Raleigh and offers some decent ethnic food at an affordable price. As mentioned the food is good and affordable, however the location and restaurant itself could use an improvement. read more

Popped in here with my husband last night before a movie. I ordered the combination plate with jerk chicken and stewed chicken. When I got home the portion size was very good but I was confused. There were little pieces of chicken that were neither jerk or stew, seemed like just tiny unbreaded fried drumettes. The jerk had no jerk flavor (I also wasn't asked if I wanted any sauce for my chicken). The cabbage/rice had a distinct ginger taste I was not accustomed to. The plantains were good but the rest of the food was off so I didn't eat the rest. I normally eat at Mum's so I was trying to try something new. There's something to be said for sticking to what you know. read more
