I've been here several times and the food is good and the service is alright. Oxtail, Jerk Chicken, Curry Goat, and an assortment of patties--all good (even the veggies!) Like all US-based Jamaican restaurants, the Jerk seasoning is missing certain elements that seem to be exclusive to the Island. Considering the lack of competition and availability of local Jamaican restaurants, I'm very happy there's a Golden Krust nearby and I wish the franchise success. That being said, the man in Jamaica selling Pan Chicken on the side of the road has better chicken. I don't know why or how. Golden Krust has room to improve. I would suggest they focus on bringing more of that authentic, sweet-wood smoke to their meats and allow the aroma of Jamaican-styled BBQ to dominate the shopping plaza. read more

I didn't find this location on yelp so I decided to add it. I found this place only because it is next to my dry cleaners. This is a Caribbean bakery & grill. They have a variety of patties from Jerk Chicken to Shrimp Patties. They also have good soups (red pea soup yummmm), pastries, breakfast, and house specials. During my visit I was recommend the Curried Goat. This is goat meat marinated in curry and some other spices. My meal came with rice & peas, two sides (steamed vegetables and fried plantains) and a soda ($6.99). I don't think the words "I'll have the goat" have ever come out of my mouth before! I am glad that I tried it because it was great. It was refreshing to eat something different in this area. I am by no means in expert on Jamaican food but I am a fan. They have lunch specials Monday- Friday from 11am to 3pm. They also have tons of jerk options to try. I think the next time I visit I'll try the beef liver for breakfast. If you're in the mood for something different give it a shot. If you're less adventurous I would try the jerk wings or beef patties. read more

Great Jamaican food for a chain. I usually prepare my own but when time doesn't permit this is my standby. Above average Jamaican food at reasonable prices. Killer "Curry Chicken" and "Braised Ox Tail" dishes. Numerous patty varieties. Try the "chee-zee beef patty", it's unique. My fave is the "jerk chicken patty". Definitely, try a fruit juice from the refrigerator like the "Sorrel" and "MangoSop with Lime". Very clean presentation. Super friendly and courteous staff. Glad this place is around. read more

This was to be the worst service I've never received. I went in for my lunch break which is ones's valuable time, they made me wait 15 mins just so that I can get to the cashier on the left so that the cashier could tell me that I have to get back in line for the register on the right. I waited an additional 15 mins so the cashier tell me to wait again to check another customer in line out, which is the line to the left. Good job! read more

This place needs a visit from the health inspector. I purchased a soup for lunch and ended up chewing on a piece of gauze. When I took it back to the store and told the cashier I found something in my soup, she asked me if it was gauze. (Meaning she was already aware and that clearly I wasn't the first person who had experienced it) According to her they had thrown out a batch earlier in the day. She then proceeded to offer me more soup from the same pot I was served not 20 minutes prior ,another meal, or my money back! The fact that they intended to keep serving the soup after me letting them know what I found is simply disgusting and a health violation. Per the manager the gauze was from the packaged meat which clearly shows another health violation. Are they not washing cleaning the meat thoroughly? Absolutely disgusted with this place! Golden krust I've missed you!! Ahhh I'm where I belong, I just moved to a new place close to this eatery and I'm so happy! I ordered the brown chicken stew with rice and beans, cabbage and plantains. And I was in a greedy mood so I ordered a beef patty and ate it all too. The chicken was tender, could easily come off the bone. The sauce was so good and especially over the rice. The cabbage was cooked perfectly too, no over seasoned and the perfect tenderness. And of course the patty was delicious, its Golden krust! Service was good and restaurant was clean. I don't generally do reviews, however I couldn't not do one in this instance. My grandmother passed and I was at a total loss as to how to navigate a repast in the wake of Covid 19. I called and spoke with Mary. Her immediate compassion and care put me at ease and I felt confident that we were in good hands. To say I was not disappointed would be an offense. To say that everyone loved the food would be an understatement. I cannot count how many times I was asked who did the food, because I found myself saying "Golden Krust by the Sawgrass" all evening and into the night. My mother recently moved to Sunrise, and in driving around saw two Golden Krusts, a restaurant I was unfamiliar with. While in the Publix shopping center on Sunrise Blvd, I decided to try it out. Walked in, food on full display, and it all looked delicious. Nothing was marked, so had to ask what everything was. Between the accent and the music playing in the store, I had a hard time understanding her. Regardless, I already knew I wanted to try the chicken curry and maybe the jerk chicken. The brown stew chicken looked more interesting than the jerk, so I went for that. They did not offer me a sample...don't know if they do that...but would have been nice to have a sample, to make sure I liked. Took the meals home to eat. It was all good...both mom and I enjoyed the curry more than brown stew, but brown stew is not something we would normally get. I will return - try the jerk chicken this time. My husband had a ox tail with brown rice .Located just across the street from Sawgrass Mills, last place you would expect to find a good Jamaican fast food joint ! Good value for the amount of food served. Lot's of choices if you're from the Caribbean but it's not the full on flavors you get in good Caribbean food. The dishes are ok it just seems like they don't carry the full punch of spices and flavor. All in all it's a good deal for a lunch filler...just falls short on flavour a bit. read more

They are such a hit and miss (more of a miss) for me. I do like their beef patties though. I've tried the curry goat, curry chicken, oxtail and fried chicken. The curry goat would probably have to be my favorite if I had to choose. It's nice and spicy and the gravy isn't too watered down. The curry chicken is blah it's watered down and oily. I feel like there's never enough curry powder. The oxtail can satisfy my craving but it's not the best. It's too sweet in my opinion. My entree shouldn't be as sweet as dessert. I usually go to the chinese place next door but decided to give this place a chance. After trying it all I can say is that I'll be going back to the chinese place next door. Not because they didn't have the shrimp patty, or the jerk wings, or the tripe & beans, or the fish dinner (I had to settle for the brown stew fish) but because cashier KerryAnn rudely yelled at me in front of everybody when I slightly lowered my facemask to read the menu even though I was 6 feet way from everyone! Anyone who wears a facemask knows their glasses gets fogged and makes it impossible to read anything!! I'm 57 yrs old and I'll do my business with an establishment that treats me like an adult and not a child!!! I went into the restaurant a few days ago to purchase patties and I was trying to pay with cash. The store manager kept insisting that the bill was counterfeit and I told her it wasn't. I was highly embarrassed and humiliated. I told the manager that I would never do such a thing. She even ripped the money claiming she knew what she was doing and she sure did not. I went to Publix afterwards and I used the same bill at Publix that she claimed was counterfeit and I even asked the cashier to check the bill and to get a manager to check the bill and they said the bill was not counterfeit and they took the bill. Ms manager you need to be retrained because you are obviously clueless. I have been handling cash for a very long and I know when a bill is counterfeit. The way how she handled the situation was very unprofessional. I use to support that business but I no longer will be supporting that business. As a store manager myself I wouldn't have dealt with the issue like that. Plus integrity is a huge part of who I am as a person and that's also my character you are coming for. read more

My go to place for patties and wished they offered the Friday hominy (my spelling is off) porridge. The porridge reminds me of a time when I was a child. Thank,you for making home comfort foods. We went here to have the red pea soup, which was excellent but they had so much more. We ended up ordering jerk pork dinner and stew peas dinner, both were very good. Funny thing is the patties we tried was not as good as other places, tasted too dough and not flaky, otherwise the food is good and we will come back soon. read more

Stopped in for lunch after I ate at the chinese place next door and saw all the people going there. (The chinese was not very good) So many people are not wrong. Had the Jerk Chicken lunch Special. Two sizable pieces of Jerk Chicken, a ton of spinach rice, fried plantains and veggies with a diet Coke, all for $6.88 including tax. I was early and ate at one of the five tables they had which were empty at the time but filled up quickly. In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger: "I'll be back!" I have given this place two tries already, and both tries it was a fail. I was there the second week they were open, as soon as I walked in it felt like a inferno. I like a good portion, that is what I'm use to getting when I go to Donnas and other Jamaican places. This place tho is right down the street from my place so it is convenient. But for what I'm paying for and what I receive in return I rather drive for 5 minutes to Donnas and know I'm going to get more that 5 pieces of oxtail (for a size large order!). That patties isn't flaky, the food is just average. But if you have 5 minutes, do yourself a favor and drive to Donnas instead. P.s this place feels like the ac is always out on both times I went. Fix that, and don't be so stingy with your meat portions! read more
