David is great. He is great at communicating his schedule and when he was going to get to our house. In my situation I saw he is very respectful because he got an emergency call from the Sheriff and asked me if it's still okay to come a bit later. I was okay with it and he texted me 20 mins before he arrived at my house so I knew when to expect him. He displayed more respect by asking if he needed to take off his shoes before entering. We didn't need him to do that but it was nice that he showed the courtesy to ask. David explained everything that needed to be done along with prices, and we were able to work out a good deal. While he rekeyed the locks, he suggested we reset the garage door remote, but insisted I should do it because it takes 2 seconds and if he charged he'd have to charge a large sum. I was bit too short to remove the cover that exposes the learn button so David helped me out and removed the cover for me. David re-keyed 3 locks in about 30 mins. He stood by his work asking me to test each lock with the new keys and verify the old keys no longer work. Great customer service. read more

David installed new locks with all the hardware and rekeyed every door in my house to replace the 1970's ones. There were old french doors that were a bit warped and it wasn't an easy job. He was very organized, punctual, and even texted me a few times to let me know he was on his way. His pricing is very reasonable and he works hard. He came back another day to rekey one of the locks I decided I wanted to change and didn't even charge me. Such a good guy. He goes to calls at all hours, is very experienced and compassionate with elderly people who are confused and struggling with their locks (from his stories, not me!). David was honest, courteous, and on time. My client had an antique lock on her front door and needed some work to be done to make the lock work properly. This could cost a lot of money. I called Golden Locksmith because a guest of mine in Newport Beach was locked outside the guest house and we thought it was just the keypad that ran out of batteries, but we were wrong. GL was the third locksmith I called (Saturday 9:30) and the only one to pick up the phone. LUCKILY! Not only they picked up the phone, but David the technician was very professional and knowledgeable on the phone. I sent him a picture of the keypad by text message and he knew what to do, how long and how much. In just 20 minutes he was by my door and 5 minutes later he had unlocked the problematic door. I called this place a few months ago when I needed a lock for my door at home. It's an older style lock and I didn't know where to get it from. When I called I believe it was the owner who answered and he was very helpful. First he told me that he didn't have that style lock. He could of just left it at that and I would've looked for a long time trying to find it. Instead he told me about a place that would have it. I went there and sure enough they had what I needed. I had done some Googling on my door locks (Weiser) because I was thinking of attempting to re-keyi my door locks. After reading about how horrendous Weiser locks were to work on, I decided to give Golden Locksmith a call. I had to have 5 locks re-keyed and called David to see if he could help me out. He quoted me a very fair, flat price, that I agreed to, and he met me at my home at 6pm. After inspecting what I thought I needed to have done (deadbolts), he asked if I needed my door knobs re-keyed as well. I had not even considered them and the scope of the job jumped to a total of 9 locks. I agreed to the additional work and watched as David went to work. Have you ever watched someone work and knew by the way they moved and worked that they were extremely competent at their profession? That was David. He worked quickly and confidently removing and numbering the locks and stayed focused and organized. I followed him out to his vehicle and watched him begin the re-keying process. We chatted as he worked and he explained that some locksmiths will only change one pin on the cylinder to re-key the lock. I watched as he changed all the pins on each cylinder to create a completely different combination. I then learned why locksmiths detest Weiser locks. As he began the process with the doorknobs I could see that these locks were never intended to be re-keyed. They were put together with the intention of, if there was ever a failure, they would have to be replaced in their entirety. Imagine a metal cylinder with a groove cut around the circumference Now imagine a very hard, metal ring that sits very snugly within that groove. In order to get to the innards of that cylinder, that ring has to be removed. It proved to be a very challenging task indeed. David was able to accomplish the almost impossible task without showing any signs of frustration or anger. A true professional because I know I would have thrown that stupid door knob down the street after a few minutes and gone to Home Depot to buy some quality locks. Once the re-keying was done, David quickly and efficiently reassembled and tested everything and had me test as well to ensure I was satisfied with the work. David is small business owner that takes a lot of pride in his work and it is very apparent in his actions. He strives for perfection and I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone that needs an excellent, honest, reasonably priced and competent professional locksmith. Thanks again David! read more
