They also serve a few bites including crispy spring rolls ($14) but only from 6pm. 2 of the 3 drinks we got were great but the 3rd one was definitely a miss, we didn't touch it. We stopped by when they opened at 5:00 p.m. and happened to come right when they had their Happy Hour, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. During this hour, all drinks -- minus the bowls, are $10, instead of their usual $18 - $20. I ordered their "Fire Dancer" cocktail, which included "Patron Reposado, Tanteo habanero tequila, Nixta elote liqueur, spicy mango syrup, and lime". If you enjoy spicy drinks, you should give this drink a try, as the heat is intense! Overall, the drink was a tad unbalanced, but otherwise the flavor was good. The bar is very dimly lit, like your typical tiki bar, but the music felt very out of place. The punk rock music blasting over the speakers was quite loud and made it a bit hard to talk with each other at times. Lastly because there was only one server and one bar tender, service wasn't the fastest. From the time we were seated to when we received our drinks, it was roughly 30 minutes later. Our group of six easily found seating together and ordered a Scorpion, two Guava Gals (which arrived in fabulous fish-shaped ceramic ware), a beer, a Rum Runner and a club soda. Something for every taste. They did a nice job with the vibe, this is right off the casino lobby. The staff was plentiful, helpful, and the place was quiet during our visit so we could talk comfortably. One of those places we just wanted to check out since we particularly love tiki bars and lounges. This one was not the traditional tiki that we expected but it was a nice atmosphere with interesting decor. The tiki mug they use are pretty cool and the music variety they play overhead was very good. Staff was friendly and attentive, and it was a nice place to just sit back and kill some time. The drink prices were also fairly reasonably and they don't have Mocktails on the menu but they will make you one at your request with the variety of juices they have at the bar. They don't take reservations, but there were plenty of open seats on a Friday night. Unfortunately, they don't serve any food or snacks. I got drawn in by the vibe. Stayed by the mermaid theme. Feels like I'm under the sea with the Little Mermaid swimming and going deeper and deeper. Golden Monkeys hanging from cages reaching down helping eachother. Pine tree beautifully lit green forest and under water theme. Pretty decent for a hotel lobby attempt at a tiki bar. Nothing to write home about but also nothing to wag a finger at. Definitely a different vibe than the usual tiki expectations - a little more upscale and a little less kitsch while keeping many of the standard expectations of the drinks, like classic recipes in classic mugs. We walked right in and sat ourselves at the bar on a Saturday night. There were people hanging out but it wasn't busy. The bartenders were friendly and attentive. The only thing that felt off to me was the music. It was all over the place from hip hop to rock to oldies. The menu has a good variety of drinks. If rum isn't your liquor of choice, they have other options which is nice. I went with the Fire Dancer ($16) which had tequila and spicy mango syrup among other things. If you like spicy margaritas, you'll enjoy this one. Even though it had fire in the name, it was my sister's One Way Flight ($17) that came with a show. It was a very tropical drink with rum and fruit juices. Both drinks were strong! For me, the mugs are half the fun of going to a tiki bar and the ones here are so cute. This lounge was recommended to us by a Vegas local and it was my favorite stop of the night! Upon arriving we were immediately greeted and seated. This spot has a large selection of tiki drinks. It was a bit slower when we stopped in so our server, Kamori, was super helpful in assisting with our drink selections. The drinks are boozy (in a good way) and come in the best tiki mugs. We were staying at Resorts World and saw through social media that they opened a new tiki bar so we came to check it out! From the outside they kept the same appearance of the bar/restaurant that was previously there. The decor inside was kind of like...they're trying to be tiki/island theme, but the previous restaurant's decor is still in place. No one greeted us upon entering, so we just walked straight up to the bar and figured someone would greet us there. The bartenders were very nice and friendly, helped us decide what drinks to get. And they serve complimentary furikake popcorn which was actually really good. They have a large menu - some tiki classics and signature golden monkey cocktails. Drinks are tasteful and delicious, and some were served in beautiful tiki cups. I give 3 out of 5 stars for the service at the bar and the delicious drinks. Based on the surprisingly wide range of opinions on the Golden Monkey Tiki Room, I certainly had no idea what to expect of Resorts Worlds' foray into tiki. Undaunted, the wife and I took in the Golden Monkey for drinks on a pair of Saturday night. On both visits, it was far from busy despite the being there after 8pm. We could've sat anywhere, but we always prefer to sit at the bar. Others have criticized Golden Monkey for lacking a fully-realized tiki atmosphere, which isn't completely unfair, but holding it up to Golden Tiki or Frankie's (both bars that I LOVE) as if it's the only standard is. I wonder if those individuals would also be disappointed in the somewhat minimalist tiki style of Beachbum Berry's Latitude 29 in New Orleans. I digress. What's far more important to me in any bar are the drinks and the service. On both occasions, we were well met by the bartenders who were friendly, attentive, and very capable in delivering to me well-made, balanced, tiki drinks, the Category 5 and the classic Three Dots and a Dash. Not forgetting that we were having tiki drinks at a bar in one of the Strip's most high-end properties, the drinks were very fairly priced given the quality...roughly $1-3 more per comparable drink than at the aforementioned Golden Tiki...and you can also get the tiki mug for $35, which is the same as at Golden Tiki and Frankie's. Needless to say, we added a couple of mugs to our collection. The Golden Monkey Tiki Lounge isn't the best tiki bar in town. Heck, it's not even the best bar in Resorts World. That said, Golden Monkey possesses the requisite tiki chops where it matters most...the drinks...and shouldn't disappoint most tiki cocktail aficionados. Walking in from LV Blvd, it's hard to find. This is a sprawling resort. We found it and is a pleasant surprise (having heard/read negative reviews). The cocktails are exceptional. Compare their classics, such as the Zombie, Saturn, Rum Runner,etc. to the Golden Tiki's version ( or any bar). You might agree these are as good, if not better. It is a quiet, soft lit, relaxing bar that has an Asian/Tiki background theme. "A modern twist on classic Tiki Bars" as our bartender described it. Fair enough. I did smoke in the Breeze way, later to find out it's strictly Non-Smoking...Yikes. Food is served only certain hours. There's a lot of fun places to eat back by the bustling casino. The best place to sit is at the bar, taking in the warm, handsome decor: the woodwork, lights, backdrop and all. ( we went in December, 40 degrees outside). The bartenders were professional, taking time to make the drinks right. No rush jobs. Cordial and personal. It was a slow night, so we had a long conversation with them on the good, bad and ugly of their lifetime of living in LV ( I didn't know there were good things). They were stocking the bar and found 2 bottles with just a bit left, so we all shared Free shots of different rums. Quite the welcome! They made our visit the highlight of the night. Got a chance to check out Golden Monkey this past week before the David Blaine show. Based on the reviews here and other sites I thought our experience here was going to be an unmitigated disaster. First off, the drinks are solid; boozy and well priced at around $17 each which is a great price point for being on the Strip. I personally liked the Rum Runner and the Polynesian Pearl Driver but all of the drinks we ordered appeared to be pretty good. There are a variety of tiki classics like the zombie along with their own in-house specialties. One thing to note is that not all drinks are served in traditional tiki glasses such as the Funky Monkey so check with the bartender if that is going to be an issue. On our visit the place was a complete ghost town. As many of the other reviewers have pointed out that the bar isn't tiki enough which is true for the most part. Service was the real weak spot as there was only one waitress for the entire lounge yet 2-3 bartenders. The server herself was in no rush to take any orders which didn't help the situation either considering the place was dead. There is no excuse for poor service anywhere inside Resorts World and this has got to change. Lastly there are some weird policies: BOGO on drinks for locals but you can only do it once in a day and both drinks have to be the same ones. Why? It makes no sense to offer a promo and then throw on all these restrictions. Overall Golden Monkey is worth checking out but with the way it is being run I don't see it sticking around much longer. read more

I ordered the Rum Runner - 2 kinds of rum with blackberry, pomegranate, banana, pineapple liqueur and lime. Very tasty. My friend asked the bartender to mix up a drink with a particular kind of gin. How can I say how sadly disappointed I was without offending the bartenders? All of them were great! However, I'm very much the type that likes to ask people if they are happy with their job. I would conclude that the bartenders are happy, but when your manager is a tyrant, well what can you do? And then, I understood why. The vibe was great until the manager came over and told us that no outside food was allowed. We had bought a $40 pizza, from within the resort and made a stop to have a drink. I received an email about checking this place out, so we did randomly, because I knew we wouldn't have another opportunity to do so. Two things, this is Vegas and your demographics are people who are stopping in randomly for a drink, coming back from the pool, and especially at 5pm. And two, you can't micromanage a crowd that is there to have fun and spend money. This is Vegas! So we put the pizzas on at an empty table away from us, continued to drink, and like 10 minutes later manager, "Aimee" came by again and said that outside food was not allowed. At this point, I decided that I was done. I do not support businesses that don't understand that the service industry is 100% about service. What was gained from telling us that outside food is not allowed? This place doesn't sell food, so it's not competing. And, we were not there to eat the pizza. Personally, I did not see the reason behind being so strict. The place was rather empty. The drinks were great, and the bartenders were fantastic! I'm torn because I do/don't recommend this place until they find a manager that understands the Vegas vibe. Micromanaging is NOT it. So last night my wife, Lisa M. McGee, and I visited Resorts World and more specifically the Golden Monkey Tiki Bar and The Eight Lounge Cigar Bar. Being on the strip, and the menu out front without any prices made us hesitant, as us locals know how bad prices can be on the strip. For example, we visited the Rio and it was $26 for two regular cans of beer. The Golden Monkey is an upscale version of a Tiki Bar, prices are inline with the other Tiki Bars, Golden Tiki and Frankie's. The drinks were more craft cocktails and served in ceramic tiki mugs. What I thoroughly enjoyed about the Golden Monkey was the level of detail in decorating, the fact you can have a conversation without competing with the music, the choice in music, the level of detail in the presentation of the cocktails and of course the amount of cocktail and how good the cocktail was. If you like like coconut, I would highly recommend the Feeling Coconutty. I had the One Way Ticket and it was delicious, and transported me back to my favorite place of Hawaii. I was ready to give this place a solid chance. I love some tiki. The photos online looked a little barren, but an effort had been made. I laughed a bit at the eviscerating online reviews. Unfortunately, they were all right. Before you even step through the door, the music is assaulting you. And it's garish and just...wrong. I love 90s don't get me wrong. But that's not tiki bar vibes. "I would walk 500 miles?" Maybe to get away from this place... Unfortunately the loud music will continue to assault you the entirety of your visit to this questionable affront to sensibility. Every step of the way it gets a little worse. Like when you realize other bars in the resort have a cheaper price on the exact same "mai Thai" - which bears about as much resemblance to a real mai tai of any variation, as the mall-like exterior does to somewhere, anywhere charming... Or the lighting ... which is somehow too dark and glaring at the same time. The fake neon LEDs behind the bar are the worst part and need to be ripped out immediately. Or the service, which manages to somehow be dog slow despite an empty bar and idle bartenders, leaving the music to assault your ears as it sinks in just how much you don't like this place...in fact maybe you hate this...maybe you loathe it... Or the fact they apparently have 73 rums, but no rum list, no way to see all of them, the bartenders won't list them for you (reasonable tbh), and they feature whisky (?!) and tequila (?!) in their showcases. What even is the point of the 67 rums you can't see or order?? The best drink I had wasn't even on the menu. It was also cheaper at $15. The drink in question was the painkiller, which of course didn't come in the right glassware, and wasn't shaken OR stirred, but at least had some good flavors. By contrast, something was off about their three dots and a dash. Seriously off. I love that drink and I can't even place what flavors this had instead. Linoleum cleaner and anise? We also had a rum runner...don't even get me started. It doesn't matter if that one is wrong or right Of course there are no custom tiki mugs, so we can't even enjoy some markup when this place inevitably gets a retheme to a high end whisky bar or something. Oh and good luck finding this place. It's not on any of the signs. Maybe that's a small grace. You're better off not finding it. Just take an Uber to Frankie's or golden tiki... I love tiki bars. I've never been ready to never come to a tiki bar again. So I guess that's one unique thing you'll find here, in addition to the cultural clashes. read more

First I would like to mention that I do venture to different tiki bars often on my travels and each tiki bar has their own vibe. The Golden Monkey had the vibe of a fancy Asian restaurant with some tiki decor sprinkled about. Now I did have the "Catagory 5" and it was a very tasty and well put together drink. My friend had the "One Way ticket" also a good drink. We were Excited to try this place out and had a trip revolve around coming here, expecting more and maybe that is our own fault to "expect more" but I didn't feel the tiki vibe.
