I never knew this place existed, until I saw that one of my favorite local cover bands was going to play there (STATUS THE BAND)! Which is a shame because it's so cool! We tried the "Upside Down High Tea" - Cool hangout, but a little overpriced. Doing the high tea experience is 49 dollars per person. It comes with a pot of chilled tea and small finger foods to enjoy on the side. The tea was all excellent. I was with two others so we were able to try 3 different types and all were good with my favorite being the white lotus. They also come in fun pots like a giant frog or rooster. The food was... minimal. See picture to see how much food is included for a party of 3. It's a snack for sure. Sadly, not many gluten free options either. Just the chocolates and gummy. My party did enjoy what they ate but did expect a little more given the price. The service was good but it also wasn't busy. Servers kept us well stocked but also did good at not checking in too much. The music was also excellent. It was a good volume so we could still talk among friends. Elise Victoria was playing while we were there and she has a beautiful voice. Also liked the song choices she and her band performed. But what really stood out (and will keep me coming back) were his espresso martinis--hands down the best I've ever had in my whole entire life. I'm not kidding. I've had a lot of espresso martinis lol. I also asked if he could make me a drink that he hadn't heard of before and he ended making it to perfection. I love this place for intimate-feeling live music, great drinks, and gorgeous ambiance. I've been here about three times on weekends around 9-10pm and the music was different each time but I loved them all (jazz twice and acoustic rock once). Drink prices felt fine/normal for Strip-adjacent, especially considering there's no cover charge. Always an awesome vibe, whether it's more quiet/mellow or packed with young hipsters wearing conference badges, as it was last night lol. Located in the Virgin Hotel and Casino with free parking, this place is a great night out if you like like music and chill atmospheres. The decor is super cool vibe with shags that are hung from the sealing to create illusiveness and privacy. The signature cocktails are well crafted at $17 but I could not taste all the flavors in the Privateer. Don't get me wrong, it was still tasty. They have live music many nights and even though it is a super small room, the amplification of the music is perfect and not too loud. The chairs, chaises and couches are roomy for sharing and comfortable if you want to hang out for a while. My one criticism is that the wait staff did not come anywhere near myself and my friends to see if we wanted drinks after we'd been there for at least 20 minutes. So we needed to go to the bar to order and the bartender seemed unsure of how to make my drink that was on the menu. I'd return though for the vibes. read more

Horrible customer service from the server. Front hostesses were great, but after that the server and the bartender were terrible. They looked miserable to be there and the server we got a lady with dark medium long hair was too busy on her phone to notice that I needed something after I kept looking back at her. I went and got up and walked to the bar myself. After I ordered with the bartender, I was standing there for a total of about 15 minutes and she had the audacity to ask "did you need something honey!" Mind you I was right next to the at the bar the entire time while she was talking about stupid personal shit and being on her phone. I just said no he's got it already. Place is a bit hidden across from the bell desk with Moroccan and Velvet decor. Not as intimate as the evening due to curtains are open letting in daylight. Price is reasonable 49 per person, each gets to select a beverage served in a teapot and full order of mini bites. Extra teapot cocktails and refills are 30. We loved the ambiance and live band playing great music hits. Service was great...waitresses very friendly and fun. Not very busy but steady flow of people. Savory bites were okay...sweet ones were better. The tea pots all unique and fun and tea cups very cute. We went to the Boozy Afternoon Tea on a Sunday and it wasn't very busy, but it was amazing. There was a cool cover band that took pop songs and made them jazzy. Our waitress gave us a choice between sitting in the room with the band or getting a cabana. We chose the cabana and got to sit in our own little private enclave without having to pay for bottle service. The Tea wasn't really tea, but more of icy cocktails served in clever little tea pots. Since the place wasn't busy, our waitress was able to give us special attention, giving us a little extra food and making sure we had everything we needed. The furnishing was Mediteranean inspired and you could tell that whoever designed the room went out of their way to pick some amazing pieces to bring the room to life. Sis and I are afternoon tea afficianados and we'd never had an experience like this. It truly was a through the looking glass, down the rabbit hole experience and so cool that I'm coming back with friends. read more

The server April is amazing, the bartenders are fantastic (Kyle & Angelica will keep your glasses full!), and the atmosphere is lush and intimate. My first experience here for drinks on date night was a good one so I was excited to return for Boozy Tea with friends. The Shag Room is a fun spot for both weekend drinks and tea with friends. The ambiance at The Shag Room is really fun. They are going for a Studio 54 vibe, but it has a Palm Springs in the 70's vibe to me. Either way, I have enjoyed the plush seating, cabanas, and fun vibe. On both visits the service has been friendly and helpful. I was interested in Boozy Tea, but had trouble finding the details ahead of time. Here are the details: -Sundays from 12-3, reservations can be made on their website -$40 per person includes a tier of savories and sweets plus a boozy tea pot which is about two to four drinks -live music for the entire tea service Boozy Tea is in a category of its own. I wouldn't compare it to any other afternoon tea service in town. They've taken elements of the typical afternoon tea and made it more like a lively party experience. My friends and I had a great time. Two of the three savories were delicious. The chicken curry gougere had a nice flavor and I enjoyed the mango chutney on top. The Parmesan shortbread was tasty. The crab rangoon napoleon had a really fishy taste even with the roe on top removed. I love seafood, but didn't enjoy this. The sweets were outstanding and my favorite part of the food. The desert sunset yuzu tart had the best flavor with a perfect meringue on top. The cactus macaron was also delicious and it had the slightly chewy texture that a macaron should have. The jelly candy and chocolate lips were tasty. As much as I loved the sweets, the ratio of savory to sweet was a little off. Another savory would help balance this out. The boozy tea is a fun idea, but wasn't my favorite. I went with the Botanical Bee's Knees and this was not good at all. My friends tried it and agreed that it had an odd flavor. I was able to try my friend's Social Butterfly Tea and it had a lovely flavor plus a beautiful purple color. The Rambling Rose tasted mainly of black tea. All of the teas were served cold. Overall, The Shag Room is a fun place and Boozy Tea is a fun way to spend an afternoon. read more

What a fun time. Lots of parties get into the theme and come dressed for a tea party. Fascinators, pearls and floral. The bites were delicious and a good variety. I was impressed with the quality of food and the ingenuity of ingredients. And the boozy tea was so so good. A little dangerous because they taste too delicious and you keep drinking forgetting there's alcohol. The teapots and cups were too cute, where did they find them all? Met a local at lunch who highly recommended coming to the shag room for some reasonably priced elevated cocktails and good live band music. We didn't have any plans so decided to check it and it will now be our new favorite lounge spot! It used to be the hard rock hotel but now it's virgin hotel. Immediately when we entered the casino it was to our right and we could hear the live band playing. It was beautifully decorated with curtains and velvet and had that dark lighting vibe. They had plenty of couches and tables to sit drink, hang out or listen to the band. Me and my husband sat at the bar and were immediately greeted by two amazing and funny bartenders. The Shag Room is a comfortable and fabulous lounge. Located inside Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, you'll find them right behind The Bar at Commons Club. Free parking is available on Harmon and Paradise. There's so much beauty at The Shag Room, the entire decor is Moroccan theme, and they have gorgeous cabanas that can comfortably seat up to 15 people. Sadie came by my cabana and was kind to explain some of the drink offerings. They have classic and specialty cocktails, gin, rum, tequila & mezcal, whiskey, champagne and wine. I opted for Kentucky Bloom ($17) which is wonderfully refreshing and not too sweet. It has grapefruit juice and honey mixed in Angel's Envy Bourbon and St. Germain Elderflower Liquer, then garnished with fresh Rosemary. Fernando was the nice bartender who checked in and asked how was the drink, I love it! The cocktail is delicious, there's a lovely sweetness from the grapefruit juice and honey, and it made me feel so relax and happy. It's awesome they have live band performance and the singer Elise Victoria is amazing! She sang one of my favorite jitterbug songs by Wham! "Wake me up before you go-go" and she also performed Dr. Dre "No Diggity" and The Cranberries "Zombie" which are all fantastic songs! On Wednesdays, they have open mic night at 8pm, and Live music every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. If you want to experience the Upside-Down Boozy Tea Party, it's offered on Sundays only from 12pm to 3pm. There's even a big photo booth which is so cool! read more

Boozy afternoon tea?!?! Sign me up! First time for me having tea service that involved alcohol and I loved it! It was also cold vs hot which was a pleasant surprise. We shared two different teapots for a fun afternoon booze session. The first one was called White Lotus and was very interesting. It had whisky, mango calamansi tea, Caribbean pineapple liqueur, and firewater bitters. Sweet, spicy, and burned a little when it went down your throat. The second one was called Social Butterfly which was significantly milder offering gin, butterfly lemongrass tea, elderflower, jasmine tea syrup, and egg white. Perfect way to end the afternoon. The savory and sweet bites were also delightful. Since we were here a day before Valentine's Day they tailored it to LOVE which made it just a tad more special with all the cute heart designs. Each bite was very delicious. Upside Down Tea service is available here every Sun from noon. The lounge is sexy and ultra comfortable. The Boozy Upside Down Brunch is such a fun way to spend a Sunday with friends! It's not quite a high tea or afternoon tea, but a playful and alcoholic take on tea service. The Shag room is a sumptuous space with seating nooks and tufted couches, Persian rugs and an old school vibe. What really made this a great experience was the live music, beautiful and funky jazzy covers of familiar classic hits ranging from Madonna to Britney Spears. The food and beverage part of the experience could use a little fine tuning. Each attendee gets a choice of tea-based cocktail, served in a quirky teapot - these were colorful and creative. Some drinks were better than others, roughly equivalent to 2-3 cocktails. My Rambling Rose drink tasted mostly of tea but I'm not much of a drinker so this didn't bother me - those wanting to get a buzz on may have another experience. A tiered tray of "sweet and savory bites" was also served - since our visit, the selection has changed but the sweet treats were by far the better options, particularly the large cactus macaron and yuzu tart. Savory bites were very tiny in size and a small portion beside. Our group had very mixed feelings about one bite riffing on a crab rangoon - I found it fine but others in the group felt it tasted overly fishy or off. The savory options would be an area to improve upon. Interestingly, scones were not included in the bites, which was an odd oversight for a tea service. Overall, the service was good and the entertainment was great. The ambiance and experience were fun, and it was a good time with friends.
