We came here to get our nails done before a wedding. I would recommend this place. The guy I had fanned my nails so they were fat and ugly. He didn't listen to what style I had requested and he nicked me several times. Never have I ever had such terrible service here. The lady who did my daughters also did an awful job with the shape and thickness. The parking at this place is bad. We were in a rush to leave because of the wedding we were going to and I had to go In to the salon several times to ask them to move the right car. I travel from Ewa to come here and only do pedis. I do my nails else where:) only because I am really particular of my manis, but any who I always come here for my pedis and tried other places and I just cant find a place better then here. I normally get my feet dont by the owner or her sister so they are always so good. Me and my mom are regulars so they know us and give us the best welcoming and always thank us for still supporting them even tho we moved to the west side a few years ago. There is this guy I believe hes fairly new because the only other guy is HOAI which is always great but the new guy did my pedi the last time and let me tell you I loved it, he was so good. I made an appointment to have a set of acrylic nails removed. The set of acrylic nails were on for 2 weeks. (No lifting as the place we normally go to does a. Amazing job). Well we know that "the appropriate way to remove them is in a salon- soaked off". Well of course we needed them removed ASAP. The normal place (nail salon" we go to was fully booked for a last minute requests. So of course I turn to YELP. When I called and spoke to the owners daughter Lena (unsure of spelling) she said "we soak off the nails". Well yay!! This is what I want for my daughter. The appt was the next morning at 9am. I called again to confirm it will be a "soak removal". They confirmed. I'm feeling ok about this new place for removing the acrylics. A seasoned or professional salon would know that the nails were fresh. No lifting. Polish on point. Not too much growth. Still looked good. Unfortunately, I picked up my daughter and she told me "THE FIRST PERSON TRIED TO TEAR OFF MY ACRYLIC NAIL" meaning THEY DID NOT SOAK IT!! as I requested. She said "someone else came to help me cause he had an appointment" (thank goodness!!) then the tech soaked her nails. This really bothers me as I CALLED ESPECIALLY FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO GET THEM SOAKED OFF" I called the shop back to speak to the manager or owner to explain what happened. I was passed off the daughter. Who happens to be Lena.... Yes, the person that I initially spoke to... to make the appointment. She was totally backing up the person who tore the nail off. Not even understanding, and I kept telling her that we made an appointment to soak it off. There was no resolution. Very unprofessional. I am not even sure how this happened as she explained to me that it was "also written that you wanted the set soaked off". Now I'm totally confused, so what are your workers doing? I asked if it was a new employee and she said "no he has been here from opening of the shop". I'm now thinking SLOPPY POOR SERVICE- NOT CARING ABOUT THE CUSTOMER!! They charged $15 for terrible work and injuring my child. Of course I wasn't there. And my girlie tipped the 2nd worker as it wasn't her fault. I just am speechless with how this happened. Cathy is my absolute FAVE nail tech to go to :) I have been going to her for years now and she has never disappoint. They have lots of color options that I love. The only downside to this location is parking. Very limited and if they are busy you might have to call in advance to make a appointment. Back story... 2 nails broke & my nail lady was booked so I settled for the closest place... called on Friday (2 days ago) for a fill.. They were quick to take me in (for the WORST EXPERIENCE). STRAIGHT TO THE POINT... 1. I have no smooth nails. They each have bumps or dips in em. 2. I asked for full color no designs. She INSISTED SHE'D DO A FADE! 3. A younger nail tech did my pedicure..not sure her name but she's americanized and darker complexion...she ask if I could tolerate pain and proceeded to yanking a chunk of my nail (not a hang nail.i don't get those) and said "oops" a month later and its INFECTED! If I could give a negative I would! This place was way to o pricey for the service and product that my sisters and I received. I just arrived from Las Vegas and was in need of a Mani-Pedi. I was referred to this place by a family friend and trusted her referral. I was totally disappointed. First off my pedi was done by an older woman who did an okay job. The only issue that I had was I paid extra for the Deluxe Pedi and she did not provide the extra service. The hot rocks were a joke I don't have the patience to write this review so I'll let the pictures explain my frustration but I will say this. We got the work done Friday and it's Sunday and this is how it looks. She didn't even clean my nail bed and cuticles. Did a walk-in around 10:30 am. Got seated immediately and showed Tina the photo I was looking for. And she let me know that they didn't have the exact grey picture, which was totally fine it looked perfect with the grey they had. Took about 2 hours and the outcome was perfect and I am in love with them. I did accidentally touch the base coat and mess it up, but she was super cool around it (unlike some other places that get annoyed that you accidentally messed it up). no one took my temperature, made me sanitize, write my info down... I HAD BEEN SEATED ON A STATION WHERE I SAW THE LADY LEAVE... no one sanitized my station AND I HAD TO USE THE SAME TOWEL THAT THE PREVIOUS LADY HAD BEEN RESTING HER HANDS. I can't believe this awful place has four stars! Ive been coming here for the last two years but no more since their customer service has fallen greatly. In fact I would give this place zero stars if I could -- DO NOT COME HERE. This place is like the Wild West , anything goes. They reuse their pedicure equipment ( gross!) and their pedicure basins are not lined, with mould growing inside. How nasty. Someone cut you? Too bad pay full price still!! Gel/acrylic lifted within a week? Too bad nobody will fix it for you. Need some more reasons to avoid this dirty , run down business? Well, here are a few more reasons : 1. Parking sucks they only have 6 stalls which are extremely narrow so if you drive a truck, suburban or even a normal sedan you will have problems parking in here. No parking? You can park about 0.5 mile down in a dodgy Kalihi neighbourhood and maybe ruin your pedicure in the process of walking. 2. They have awful customer service. The workers speak in Vietnamese the whole time and I've seen them start talking in Vietnamese, shaking their heads and laughing as soon as a client leaves. Obviously talking bad about that client. So unprofessional! Hoai used to be good but lately he's busy all the time. He is constantly trying to squeeze customers in so his work is shoddy. He's focused on making as many appointments as possible so he doesn't pay enough attention to detail. He does my gel manicure in 30 minutes, and it lifts in less than a week. There goes $25 down the drain. Same goes for my acrylic nails, then I come back to get it fixed but he is so busy he asks me to wait for an hour. Dude, I don't have 1h to wait for you to fix one nail that's messed up because you didn't care enough to take time to do my nails properly! Of course I said I couldn't wait and asked if someone else could but everyone walked out of the salon as soon as Hoai said something in Vietnamese so he either said something bad about me or nobody else wants to fix one nail for me since the $$ is paltry. This is the epitome of terrible business and atrocious customer service! Not to mention also incredibly rude. MANNERS , learn some because clearly nobody taught them. This is America not Vietnam , so speak English in your workplace. All this while the manager Lisa just sits there and doesn't say anything. Unreal. After coming here for two years, I'm mortified that they've completely disregarded my loyalty. Kathy and Jenny both have bad attitudes. Jenny once refused to do my nails because she wont do it the way I want. How completely absurd that I, a paying customer should request for what I want only to have a nail tech say she won't do it unless it's her way!!! Who does she think she is?! Tony was great but I heard he's no longer there which was why I switched over to Hoai in the first place. In summary because of their awful service rendered and poor customer service this place is not worth the awful parking ( there's a tanden stall so if someone has to leave and you park there you have to go out and move your car potentially ruining your manicure!). This salon is also dirty, there's dust everywhere and their pedicure basins are moldy. Best to stay away from an unfriendly, dirty establishment unless you wanna get infected , or cut or have a shitty experience ruin your day . Don't forget , you pay for what you get. Recently got engaged about a month ago and how embarrassing to have ugly nails with a beautiful ring my fiancé gave me. He wanted to propose 4 months ago on our trip to Disneyland and he told me to get my nails done. He pretty much gave me all the clues that a proposal was on its way so he decided not to do it on the trip (lol). Instead, he did it on our 9 year anniversary. This time he didn't tell me to get my nails done so that was quite embarrassing lol. Anyways- I finally made time to get my nails done. Got a manicure and pedicure at Golden Nails in Kalihi across from Helena's Hawaiian food. There is about 4-5 parking stalls. It can get busy so you will have to look for street parking. I got here about 9:30 am and got the last stall. And they open at 9am. You get the idea. Unfortunately, I was not able to ask for my nail tech's name but she was so awesome! (If you're reading this, thanks girl!) Very funny but also knows how to give you your peace. I asked for a pedicure spa $23 and she did a great job. I didn't get a deep massage because that was over $40. So the massage in the pedicure spa was very basic. She did a great job at the color. She fixed every little paint problem. Onto the fun part! I asked for an ombré French tip gel for my manicure. She used an airbrush which made it look natural and I love it. She was so sweet because she kept asking if I was okay, if it hurt and if the cut was good. I said yes to everything so at one point she's like "you so cute, say yes to everything" lol I think every employee loves that kind of customer. Definitely will have to come back here. I was treated to the deluxe pedicure by a good friend and enjoyed a leg scrub and massage that was so relaxing and stress-relieving! This was the first time that I experienced massage with hot stones, and it was lovely-not too hot but just right! This is a relatively new salon(about 4 months old) so is clean and new! The massage chairs are new and work really well. There are 4 albums full of photos of their work and they let you know that what you see for manicures can be done for pedicures as well. Brian did a wonderful job cutting , cleaning and buffing my toenails without hurting or cutting me. And my pedicure came out beautifully! Very happy with the results! read more

I'm very very picky when it comes to my nails but I'm so lucky to have been told about this hidden gem. They're always so friendly and the wait is hardly ever long. I went here to do a mani and pedi and let me just start by saying the parking here is terrible. There are literally only 5 stalls & if this place is busy, good luck finding open street parking. When you walk in, the place looks rundown and old but I figured with the good Yelp reviews I'd give it a shot. I walk in and the woman that worked on me (older woman) grabbed her shower caddy from the back with all of her tools in it and started working on my feet. I was paying close attention to the detail of her tools/service. There is a bottle of lotion that she put on my cuticles before pushing them down, and to get the lotion out of the bottle she constantly stuck her finger in it bout a couple of times then closed it. With the sharp tool she was running it back and forth into my toes hurting me, and with the buffer tool was buffing my skin! All the tools being used on me was being put in a cup which was accumulating water, she dumps the water in my pedicure sink while my feet is still in it! Like (why not just wait till I'm done?) I doubt she ever cleans her tools. As she drained the sink I saw mold on the drain and was completely grossed out. I should've left...but shame on me, I didn't. Then she starts working on my manicure, her station looks dirty (like she reuses the towels everyday that she uses to dry customers hands), there she goes again buffing my skin! Then she brings out the lotion bottle again and does the SAMEEEE THING!! & she kept putting it down in her caddy! The same caddy she bought to my pedicure which means she was using the same tools she used on my feet ON MY NAILS! I never once saw her clean it! While putting on the gel polish, my ring finger was constantly burning really bad and I told her that and she demanded I leave it in the lamp so it could dry, it still burns. Then gives me a crappy hand massage and tells me to leave the "coconut oil" on my cuticles, trying not to be rude I just wiped it off and immediately showered when I got home, I felt dirty. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If you like your nail places sanitary, I would say to spend more money at a CLEAN salon and get the comfort and peace of mind that you need! My nails turned out lovely!!! The lady who did it was all smiles. The only thing stopping me from rating 5/5 stars was the prices. I did golden sparkly nails with gel coat and two cute bows. The nails itself was $28, gel coat was $15 whereas other places can be as cheap as $5, and two tiny bows was $12. My total was near $60. I went with my 3 year old daughter and the nail tech who did her nails was very nice and patient with her...helping her select a color. As far as my service, I always have a good experience. The nail tech took the time to really scrub my feet and massage them, I am use to a quick rub no pressure massage at the mall. Also the nail tech took the time to make sure I got the nail colors I wanted. My only complaint would be parking. There is parking in front of the salon, but there are about 6 tight parking spots. Our pedicures were fast, I don't mind having a technician who doesn't talk during it. But- after painting, one of my toes smudged in the process of my slipper being put on and I mentioned it to Mimi... mannnnn I have never seen someone roll their eyes so hard. Yikes. Next up was the manicure. She told me to sit in the chair. I ended up in the wrong station and she snobbed me and scolded me about that. Picked a color I LOVE and is my go too and she called it ugly and cheap looking. I Told her to do it anyway. During the manicure, she's got some very strong fingers... she digs under your nails like she's cutting a steak. So sore!! After I was done painting my nails, she throws a fan on it and says- don't mess it up. My daughters experience was better. A younger kinder lady but the nail painting was lumpy and uneven. But at least the technician was nice. If my daughter had Mimi, she would have been in pain. One thing I noticed, they wash their tools in your pedicure water and throw it back in their plastic drawers. Gag. Idk if that's normal. Another downside- the parking is HORRIBLE. Easy to get blocked in and can't do anything about the cars blocking because they are being serviced. My friend and I, we were last minute walkins and were serviced immediately. We were both very pleased the with result. She had already had longer nails, so she opted for a gel polish and a manicure. I have shorter nails, so I wanted acrylic extensions. I went to Hoai. I am definitely planning on coming back to see him to get my nails filled. My services with him were very quick. It took a little less then an hour. I wasn't very confident in what I wanted or was expecting because of prior negative experiences, but with the information I was able to give him, he in turn picked a great color for my nails. I'm not too sure what the name of my friend's technician's name is, however I do know that she paid very good attention to detail. My daughter , husband and I always come here to do our nails at least once a month. We always love coming here to do our nails. Haoi (Hawaii) is the one who does my nails since he's the best of doing regular mani/pedi, acrylic, gel nail extensions and designs. I love how Hoai does my nails and it last long. I've been bouncing around on the hunt for a nail salon that provides quality work at a reasonable price and is also in town...and I finally found that here at Golden Nails!!! This is now my favorite nail salon on the island, no more experimenting around! I made an appointment with Hoai for an acryclic with gel set a week ahead of time. I wanted a 9am appointment but had to settle for the 1pm appointment (so I recommend booking ahead of time if you want a specific employee!). He started my nails on time, about 5 minutes past 1pm as he had to wrap up with another client. I showed him a picture of the nails I wanted and he suprised me by asking to take a picture of it with his OWN phone so that he could refer to it throughout my appointment instead of burning the battery life on MY phone. I know it seems like something really small but that was so genuine and considerate in my opinion, as I always end up walking out of other nail salons with barely any battery life left !!! It's the little things that count! Nails came out perfect and exactly the way I wanted it. Hoai noted all the changes I wanted to do to the original design I showed him and made sure my nails came out the way I wanted. It's been almost 2 weeks and my nails still look amazing. The price was also very reasonable and is one of the primary reasons I will choose this place over other salons. My only complaint is that the parking lot is so tight and there are only like maybe 6 stalls? If you drive in, you have to reverse out onto school street when you exit which is kinda hard for me personally...Luckily this time, there were 2 stalls open side by side so I used the extra space to spin around and reverse into the stall so I would go head first out when I exited. read more
