Great place to have breakfast and lunch in Southampton. We went on a slow time so service was quick. I had the breakfast combo 1 with coffee. And fresh chicken sandwich. Completely inept. It took 20 minutes to make 2 bagels. After ordering from the sandwich makers, the cashier required the order to be repeated to a different cashier and repeatedly questioned the very simple order (bagels with cream cheese). Then that awful tipping culture handheld device was proffered. The bagels were burnt, so they had to do it over...don't most places like this have the conveyor belt toaster that prevents this? I went to the Southampton location yesterday and while my matcha latte was quite good, I was waiting on the bathroom line for over 10minutes when I was finally informed the bathroom was out of service. That was a bit frustrating as I came in for a drink & to use the restroom. Also , one girl behind the counter was particularly rude but I did my best to not let it get to me. First time at Golden Pear Bale Shop. I stopped in on a weekday for a coffee on my drive home. I usually opt for iced but everyone had a hot one so I tried that along with a muffin. The hot coffee is self service in a variety of flavored roasts and there is milk and creamers. Coffee was hot, fresh and tasty. The muffin was also huge and delish. Golden Pear might not offer an endless fresh pressed juice list- but I guess the only 4 listed, you could mix and match them. This place takes almost a good chunk of their corner block on Main & Nugent Sts. in Southampton. Kinda smallish inside. Folks on line had masks on as did employees. Decided to wait outside a bit- because some folks lost track of the required (COVID) distance. Hot foods look fresh with a nice variety for any palette. Service is speedy, pleasant and employees are willing and able to assist. My 2 small, fresh pressed Juices were good. And $26+ after, they were rich. To be honest, I saw when my juices were made and the woman wasn't shy one least bit using 2 sizable lemons for each juice, good amount of ginger and kale. That's always a plus for me. I have to write an update for the Golden Pear Bake Shop. 2006, I worked in Southampton and I'd swing by every morning to the Golden Pear Bake Shop for coffee and breakfast. First off, coming to Southampton or any Hampton for that matter during the summer is a challenge. And now it's more so with everyone leaving NYC in droves to their estates on the east end. My wife & I are heading to Montauk and told her I'd like to stop first for breakfast at the Golden Pear for some great coffee and perhaps a breakfast sandwich .Walking in, the self serve coffee is to the immediate right side. I'm sending my wife a mental note, fight your way thru.... I'm pouring the coffee with the sugars & stirrers to our far right. I ask my wife for Splenda and Raw Sugar for our coffees. She grabs the Splenda and then two people who were sitting outside push past her and start grabbing stuff. I ask her for my sugar and she's patiently waiting for them to finish. Me? I'm in kill mode now, I'm well versed in rude, NYC a holes. There's a woman in front of me, she tells the cashier: lemme taste the salad. Then she leaves the small cup and fork on the breakfast bars?! I'm snapped at this point. It's my turn and I give the cashier the used fork and cup. I order breakfast for my wife & I. The manager-owner, God bless him, he also has the patience of a saint. There's an older gentleman asking about wraps, almost to the sound of a whine?? He explains there are multiple wrap combinations and he reads the sign that's in front of the customer. Forget all that nonsense. Our food was brought outside to our table. I ordered a breakfast panini and man was it bangin'! Perfectly cooked eggs, an amazing cheese which was all pressed nicely together. It was nice to see this place thriving. Extremely rude service. Was waiting in line with my sister and mom to use the bathroom. While deciding what to order, a male employee ran over and rudely yelled that restrooms were for customers only. Uhmmm presumptuous much? Sorry we had been shopping and needed to use the bathroom first before ordering lunch...We felt judged and unwelcome here. Left a bad taste in my mouth. I was absolutely wowed by The Golden Pear. I'm giving it 4 stars for two reasons. The prices are astronomical even for the Hamptons. $17 for a panini is wild. They have muffins for sale, 4x for $16 (prepackaged)...that's nuts. They had customers sitting inside without masks during COVID-19. It was apparent that the seating inside was made available to customers. This seating should be made unavailable right now. This is a great establishment, but there are things left to be desired such as cost and safety during COVID-19. read more

We were in the area for a wedding. We came to the Golden pear twice for lunch . Food is fresh. Even though the line is long, it moves quickly. Order at the counter and they will bring out your food to your table. Inside or out. I had a Spa burrito and a power burrito the next day Asked for them grilled. Very filling, nice size portion. Expect to pay about $20 person or more. Only negative is, if you want a nice salad, there are limited choices. There are some prepared salads in the counter, but they won't make you fresh big salad. Got take out and some coffee a week ago during the time of COVID. Food was pretty decent but not worth the price. Pretty extensive menu with lots of delicious sounding things. Got the turkey, avocado and brie sandwich. Haven't had brie on a sandwich before but it was actually delicious! The sandwich was the best part of the meal. Also came with pasta salad, but it was tiny to say the least. Tasted good. But not worth the total 14$ price tag. Also got a 7$ thing of fruit. Would have thought that at a place like this it would have been fresh fruit but most of it was unripe and not too great. Also got a surprisingly expensive pumpkin sugar cookie. Honestly wasn't good at all. A bit dry and hard and not very flavorful. Coffee was fine. COVID wise it was OK. There were a decent number of tables inside which didn't feel great, and its quite cramped inside so its hard to maintain 6ft from other people. Food was decent enough. Not super COVID safe on the inside. Prices were a bit too high but it was the best place we could find that morning. Very overpriced food and small portions. Not to mention, management is very rude and forced my wife and I to leave after an hour in the restaurant because of a nonexistent lunch rush. We had just checked out of our airbnb and ordered 2 sandwiches plus coffees and a pastry, and were working on our laptops quietly. 75% of the tables were empty but we were told to leave because the manager told us "it's time".... A great place for a group with a dog and a baby to grab a bite on a sunny day. There's a row of outdoor tables that is great for enjoying nice weather and some people watching on Main Street. The food items have tongue in cheek and very Hamptons names like the Hedge Fund Omelet and the Nervous Breakdown Bloody Mary. I went with the East Hampton chicken salad sandwich with a side of their tasty pasta salad. I liked the curried chicken salad a lot! The portions were generous as well. The line can get long at prime breakfast and lunch times but it moves quickly and it seems like many people are taking items to go so it never felt too insane. I also thought it was nice that they had an employee come outside every once in a while to make sure that all the outdoor eaters were doing ok. ( For all other readers, Nick is the king of Yelp and nothing makes him more happy than a good yelp review) So today is my first time ar Golden Pear Bake Shop, and what I can tell you now already it was not just golden it was also lit! I loved the Christmas Decorations and their Cappuccino is delicious too ( obviously with WholeMilk because all other Milks are fake news) Since it is a Bake Shop I decided to go with an order of a Chocolate Croissant, for me as a citizen of Switzerland, any kind of Pastry with Chocolate deserves a review. I would rate it with 4.5 Stars, the friendly Staff and my needs for a good piece of Pastry after a 1.45h drive almost pushed me to a 5 Star review. Stopped by the Golden Pear for lunch and was very impressed with the efficient system they have created to ensure safety precautions during the pandemic. Was a bit hectic ordering our food but overall the food came out in a short amount of time considering how packed it was outside. Nice outdoor seating and is a great lunch spot in Southampton. Prices are a bit high for sandwiches BUT you can't deny the quality of ingredients they use. Definitely the type of place you go to when you want to treat yourself from the usual deli sandwich. We got the #1-Southampton- all natural roasted turkey, brie with herbs, honey mustard, lettuce, tomato on warm french baguette and #3- Bridgehampton- citrus veggie tuna salad,sliced cucumber, grated carrots, greens, and tomato on a whole grain roll. The Iced Chai Tea latte with almond milk and Iced tea were also very good! Will definitely be back when i'm in the area! read more

While there are a handful of people working here with some cheer and attention, the iron matron of this place (owner? zealous manager?) is to customer service what cancer is to birthday parties. Yes, overpriced, but the side order of contempt and indifference bordering on contempt was most unwelcome. The food was fine; my first coffee was Luke warm, but one of the cheerful employees remade it. So you'll need to decide if all this equals "worth it." A bagel, latte, and panini was 28 bucks. The food is good, so why only two stars? The astronomical prices even by Hamptons standards. The prices are put up with velcro to ensure maximum gouging during high season. Welcome to the $17 omelette and $5 small ice coffee. So feeding a family of four for breakfast or lunch is typically about $100. Not worth it. We were just dropping by to grab something to eat. It was extremely busy, but the employee still took her time with me & I didn't feel rushed. I asked her questions about the soups and she even gave me a sample to try. The prices aren't listed on the menu board, which I feel should definitely be included. I ordered a lobster roll, #3 panini, seafood chowder soup, chili, and two kombacha drinks. The total came to be ~$76. The receipt didn't have a breakdown in cost so I have no idea how much each cost. I think that was the only complaint I had, not knowing the cost and also how expensive the food was. I'm still so curious how much each item cost. Apart from that, the soup and chili was so good. The lobster roll and panini were also good but definitely not as good as the soup/chili. I would recommend the chili and soup for sure :) read more

Looks it's gonna cost a small fortune to eat in Southampton. A basic deli lunch will run you close to $20 and it's isn't gonna be anything exceptional. So you might as well go to Golden Pear. It's $18.03 for a large ice tea and "specialty sandwich". That includes a choice of salad. I get the green salad which is amazing. All of the sandwiches are great. So if you have to drop $20/person for lunch you might as well get something that tastes worth it. This place is packed all summer long for a reason. It's a great local business. Overpriced, expensive, dishonest and rude! Stopped in for a quick bite around closing time. I ordered a #3 panini. It's supposed to come with chicken, caramelized onion, cheddar and avocado. Firstly, the cost was $17, I know it's Southampton but jeez! If I remember correctly they don't even write the prices on the menu board. Next, it was missing the avocado entirely, I had brought it home to eat so could not even go ask them to add it in. I think they were closing and wanted to wrap things up so skipped the avocado. The sandwich itself was okay, pasta salad was just risotto with a few sad tomatoes and canned olives in there. Finally, while the workers here do try to be nice, the manager or whoever she is, is an absolute monster. She talks to her employees like they are morons, and was incredibly impatient and rude with every customer that interacted with her.(Luckily I did not!)
