You come here because it's an iconic long island staple. You stay for everything else. They have fantastic ice cream sandwiches. I highly recommend getting a cooler and bringing some home. And they sell so much more than just their iconic chocolate chip cookies...they have pies, cakes, brownies, assorted breads, coffee, candies, merch...the list goes on. There is tons of parking behind the store, so don't be intimidated if you see a busy front. They work fast inside, so there isn't that bad of a wait neither. This place reminds me of a place you go in your tourist visiting at a town and you wanna just go see what Tate is all about but when you get there, you realize they don't even have homemade fresh cookies they're just in the bags but even though that's what they're known for the cupcakes look like they're old and not the best quality they don't have slices of cake you have to buy the whole cake. On the way to birthday weekend at the 1708 House in Southampton, Tates is literally right down the block so me, my daughter her BF decided to stop there. My first reaction walking inside was "charming and very colorful"! It's a small store but their selection of goodies is far from small!! You will find baskets filled with their different assortment of famous Tates cookies. Very reasonably priced, only $6.00 a bag! There's baked goods in a very nice showcase, a coffee station, bags of chocolates on display and shelves filled with different types of jams and syrups. There is so much you might be tempted to buy but I was very content with my purchase of 2 bags of chocolates chip cookies! I will absolutely be visiting again and highly recommend a stop into this pretty little bake shop if you're in the area! read more

I was here like 4 years ago and got some Halloween cupcakes. I moved to AZ from NY years ago and visit NY about once a year. Made the drive out to Tates again yesterday because the cupcakes have been on my mind since the last visit 4 years ago. I got a vanilla cupcake. 10/10. Something about that thick icing and the cake itself just perfect! Obviously they aren't going to have the thin cookies fresh baked they are known for as those are now made at a separate location (factory) but the small variety of fresh baked goods here is amazing and they are delicious. Wow! Never thought I'd be able to get to this place, but glad we stopped by. They had a ton of their regular packaged cookies, some different ones I haven't seen, as well as some really delicious freshly baked treats. We opted for a few different cupcakes and they were definitely extraordinary. We tried the hostess lookalike cupcake and the peanut butter monkey cupcake... both were just so delicious and big enough to share! Lots of coffee and drink options as well, with a great pickup window that's convenient and keeps the crowds organized. There were a few tables to eat outside and the bakery was so nicely decorated. What I will say about this some perhaps might see it a bit weird but there's a reason. Mind you the stuff that this place has (like cookies) you can get about anywhere but my feeling is if you actually want to try it in person after trying it via stores you'll likely be satisfied no doubt. They do offer fresh cookies & perhaps other items as well and if say they have coffee and such again it's a win-win & intuition senses that service of their place and ambience is identical to what you get in the shop which is top notch. We all know Tate's cookies, they're crispy, crunchy, have the perfect amount of chocolate, YUM! But I did see they had a limited edition Mint Chocolate Chip flavor which I gasped at the sight of because I LOOOOVE MINTTTT. These had the perfect amount it kept the classic Tate's cookie flavor and added a perfect essence of mint. Also got a brownie which was HELLA DENSE OMG like a solid brick like ZAYUMMM (this is a good thing) I also got fresh coffee crumble cake from the bakery which was FIRE. Equally soft on the bottom and crunchy on the top. The barista with braids was the rudest person ever. Truly in awe of how nasty she is. I've never met someone more miserable and disrespectful in my life. I literally had to ask her why she is being nasty and rude, and how she can actually speak to a human like that. Was super excited to get some sweet treats from Tate's for a bday celebration and check out the original bake shop. I worked in the service industry, so I don't say this lightly understanding all the pressures that exist- but the customer service was unprofessional. The two people helping us were condescending, irritable and downright rude not just to us but other customers in the store. Maybe it was too close to closing time - but if it was my business I would want to be aware. Will probably not be back. THIS is where it all started for the famous Tate's cookies! You'll see Tate's cookies sold everywhere these days from local grocery stores to supermarkets and even Costco and Target. But it all began here in the Hamptons. First and foremost, just know that you can't actually purchase freshly made cookies here. I learned that a few years back when I was hoping to find some freshly baked warm cookies and was bummed. They're manufactured in bulk at an off-site factory. BUT, their famous packaged cookies are available for sale, along with cakes, cupcakes, ice cream sandwiches, and daily dessert specials. Their cookies actually come fairly close to tasting like homemade cookies, at least for packaged cookies. I actually try to stay far away from ultra processed foods, but I will make occasional exceptions for Tates. I shared them with a neighbor who enjoyed them as much as I did. In fact, she enjoyed them so much she came here the following day and bought 3 more different kinds for me to try (thank you, my friend!!). This shop is fairly small, but cute and fun. Workers are always nice and I always find something to get. read more

The customer service at this company has been extremely disappointing. I ordered six items for delivery to my corporate office but only received five. After multiple calls between the vendor and UPS, I was informed the missing package was returned to Tate's due to a zip code discrepancy and advised to contact them directly. When I spoke with a representative, I was told I'd receive an email update after they consulted a supervisor about reshipping the order. A week passed with no response. Upon following up, another representative stated they would "look into it" but could not guarantee reshipment, citing their policy against refunds or replacements for this type of issue. Throughout the conversation, the representative was dismissive and rushed, especially when I explained that keeping payment for an undelivered item was unacceptable. Tate's refund policy claims: "At Tate's we believe in 100% customer satisfaction and will work with you to ensure you are happy with your purchase. If your order arrives damaged or you are dissatisfied for any reason, please contact Customer Service at 631-780-6511." Based on my experience, they do not stand by this statement. Regardless of whether the order is reshipped or refunded, I will not be purchasing from Tate's again--directly or through any retailer. read more

There's a good selection of breakfast bakery items including a sour cream coffee cake and assorted pastries. The blueberry muffins were the best thing we had. The croissant was also good. We would pass on the cinnamon swirl next time, it really didn't have any flavor. There's also a large beverage menu with seasonal drinks like strawberry lemonade. We picked up some bags of cookies and there's other assorted bagged desserts like chocolates and even a tate's candle! Parking was easy even on a Sunday morning as they have a lot. read more

SO happy I got to check this spot out. I've been a huge fan of Tate's cookies probably, ever since they came out in stores in South FL. I pick them up almost every time I go grocery shopping (it's one of my guilty pleasures lol.) I visited the Hamptons over the holidays and made it a must to check out their bake shop, which was so cute! The spot is so warm and cozy. Feels like a mom and pops store and was decorated so nicely for the holidays. Upon arrival we were greeted and decided to grab a few Tate's cookies, their crumb cake and a chocolate mousse cake. The cookies were obviously great but my favorite thing was their coffee cake. I think it's one of the best I've had! I'm glad I was able to grab a few pieces to-go (seems like they run out quickly) and had them with a cup of joe in the AM over the weekend. So fresh and not overly sweet, just how I like it. I've always been a fan of Tate's cookies and often buy it in NYC so I was very excited when I walked by the bake shop. I came around 12 on a Sunday and there was already a good amount of people waiting to order. My friend and I got a key lime bar and lemonade to share. The bar was absolutely delicious. The key lime bar was the perfect combination of sweet and tart and the shortbread crust was delicious and fragrant. The lemonade was fresh and they have syrup on the side so you can add as much or as little syrup as you want. Definitely a nice stop if you're in the area. read more

I received a chocolate chip pie from Tate's Bake shop in South Hampton by mail, and the presentation was nice--it came in a plastic casing inside a box. However, when the three of us tasted it, we all agreed it was beyond tasteless and awful! I would never serve this to guests. Since they advertise a "complete satisfaction" guarantee, I called their customer service. Unfortunately, they only have voicemail, and despite calling for four days in a row, I never received a callback. My sausages love coming here whenever we're at our place in the Hamptons. Yes, Tate's cookies are available in ever freaking store you can think of in the tri-state area but the store itself has a ton of fresh made baked goods as well that are not packaged and readily available elsewhere. Their cappuccino making skills are on point and my kids enjoy their fresh squeezed lemonade, fyi there is no sugar in it. Never heard of Tate's until this came up as a POI to visit! The bakery is quaint and charming. The inside has no seating, but a plethora of the famous Tate cookie bags. Many flavors and choices! The bakery has a lot of standard baked goods. I tried the coffee cake muffin, which was a nice snack. The outside is very nice with flowers (when blooming), several outdoor tables and embodies what everyone thinks of when you go to the Hamptons. There is a dedicated parking lot for visitors so no need to stress. The only thing I didn't see at Tate's bakery was prices. None of the merchandise has prices on it (including the famous green cookie bags) and none of the baked goods menu above the register had any pricing.
