We always come here when the kids need school shoes. We came most recently when I saw my son outgrew his dress shoes about a week before he needed to wear them, and so I panicked. But my husband reminded me that Golden Shoes is always a winner, so out we trekked to the store, and sure enough, we walked in and began browsing. A saleswoman came up and began asking us questions to help us find what we needed. We chatted about needs and preferences and she measured my son's feet. Well, I might have walked in 10 minutes before closing just to ask about a pair of shoes I bought before to get another pair today. They were rude, all three, telling me they were closing (well then I guess you should put we are NOT open until 6pm) and then tried to tell me that these shoes were never boxed but always hanging. I still have my box from last year at home. I think when you are a small business that I have frequented quite often, you'd be a bit more appreciative and less condescending and rude in your tone. read more

Found a couple, looked at their dealer listings, and found Golden Shoes. I thought I should go into an actual store and get help finding the right shoe. Yesterday my sister and I went to Golden Shoes. We both were looking for summer sandals and gym shoes. We were greeted immediately upon walking in the door. We told the sales associate that we were just going to look around for a little while. Within about 20 minutes we were approached by an employee named Kim. She measured our feet and went into the back room to bring out the correct size shoes for us to try on. My sister purchased 2 pairs of beautiful sandals. I found the cutest pair of tennis shoes and placed a special order for a pair of Taos sandals as my size was not in stock. Size 7 is a pretty popular size for women. Every employee in the store was friendly, helpful and extremely polite. Camille, the owner always thanks everyone for their business ! There is always plenty of employees to help you find your style and size. I would highly recommend this shoe store ! I live near a shoe store in Orland Park where I had extremely poor customer service twice.. And will never go back. I hope you will give this small, privately owned shoe store a chance. read more

Today was a disappointing experience. I have been taking my kids to Golden Shoes for years to support a small, local business. Unfortunately, after today's negative experience I do not see myself returning. I was looking for sandals for my two children, and they still had many children sandals on display. I showed him the pairs my children were interested in, and the employee assisting us pointed out that one of the sandals was meant for "boys." I said that was fine because it was the pair my daughter was interested in. My other daughter wanted pink sandals, but they were out of stock in her size. I was ready to leave since we didn't have any luck, when the employee felt the need to judge my timing in shopping for sandals, telling me that most people "shop for sandals in April." I do not go shoe shopping for life lessons; I go to buy shoes. After we left the shop, we spent our money elsewhere, at a store that still had plenty of sandals for children in all sizes. After eleven years of shopping here for myself and the rest of my family, I feel the customer service has degraded. It's unfortunate because we have had positive experiences in the past with a different employee, so it must be hit or miss depending on who helps you. I don't want to take the chance that I'll have the same employee next time so I won't be returning. read more

I've lived in Palos Heights 10+years, and Golden Shoes is a town favorite. They have the best selection of shoes for the whole family and the staff are very friendly and knowledgable. They carry shoes that cater to a wide variety of foot problems, which is perfect for someone like me who has flat arches and flares of planters fasciitis. Their shoes are to die for!! There is a lot of new staff and they are under new management, but the old timey feeling is still there. They have a larger selection of shoes than before, and I'm glad to see a lot of young faces that can carry Golden for another 53+years. Keep up the great work! read more

I purchased shoes in two different sizes for my sister to try on. The shoes did not work out for her and I returned them today. A young man was processing the return and while I was at the counter, an older blond woman looked at the receipt and snidely said, "Oh, we spent an hour & half on them." Then as I was leaving a gentleman came in with a bag for a possible return and she commented in an irritated voice --"Here comes another one." At best, that was rude and bad business practice. This will cost the business money if she continues to display this attitude in front of customers. I have previously purchased shoes from this store. Despite the nice selection and quality of shoes, I will no longer recommend or patronize this shoe store. read more

We get so much help as each child is measured and fitted with too notch shoes. The sale representatives are so helpful with suggestions and the large selection of shoes there. I have been meaning to visit this store for the past 6 months but never had the opportunity until today! My 5 year old needed a new pair of shoes. (I knew the store carried stride rite shoes) my son and I visit the store on a Saturday afternoon. We were greeted by Marian (sales lady) with a warm smile. I selected 2 shoe styles. Although shoe #1 (my 1st choice/stride rite) is in my sons size, Marian provided several additional shoes for me to choose Marian was able to get my drowsy son to wake up to try on 2 pair of shoes lol My son liked the new balance shoes marian picked out for us that he declared he is going to "wear these shoes everyday." I was referred to Golden Shoes by the young lady who fitted me for my custom orthotics. I've had a bunion for years but recently it's started to cause me some pain. I saw a podiatrist who recommended orthotics and buying some wide toe shoes. i stopped in early last Saturday and was greeted promptly by Bob. I told him what I was looking for and why before browsing for awhile. I made several selections and Bob offered his opinion as to which shoe might be a proper fit vs which ones wouldn't work. He also brought out a pair of shoes that he suggested that I try on. Bob was wonderful and I was very appreciative of his knowledgable suggestions. I ended up purchasing three pairs of shoes that I've worn for the last week. Every pair fits wonderfully and for the first time in a long time my feet don't hurt when I walk!!! I regret that I didn't visit Golden sooner. There's a nice selection of shoes for every occasion. I only bought three pairs this visit but I easily could've purchased six pairs. I'll definitely be a repeat customer going forward. The shoes aren't cheap but sometimes comfort comes at a price. The shoes I bought were between $90-$120 each. Just left Golden Shoes for the last time. Been a loyal customer for over 30 years. The new owners have let the place deteriorate in both appearance and especially service. Went into the not very busy store this afternoon. Wandered around for 10 to 15 minutes, picked out a few potential shoes, sat down, took my shoes off and waited for a salesperson. Not a single sales associate came up asked if I needed any help. Teenage looking sales associates were wandering around, talking, waiting on a customer or two, playing with their phones. I waited for another 20 minutes as multiple sales persons walked by inattentive. By this time I had been in the store over 1/2 an hour. As I put my shoes back on and stood up to leave, a middle aged women came up to me and asked if anything was wrong. This women had been causally talking to the same few people the entire time I had been in the store. I told her that Irving Goldberg (original owner) is rolling over in his grave.
