Extremely Disappointing Experience I was recommended this place to buy my daughter's dress, and a couple of months ago, we went to see what options they had. When we arrived, the only person in the store at that moment was busy with three women at the counter. She saw us walk in, but didn't acknowledge us, not even a simple "I'll be with you in a moment" or "Please give me a few minutes." We overlooked this because she was the only one working, and we understood she was attending to customers. However, what followed was humiliating. About five minutes later, the women she was helping left, and instead of addressing us, she chose to ignore us, arrange things on the counter, and then head to the back of the store without saying a single word. No "Excuse me" or "I'll be right with you." It felt like she thought that if she ignored us, we would just leave. Since we stayed because we wanted to see dresses, another five minutes passed before my sister had to go find her in the back. When she finally came out, instead of apologizing, she gave us attitude, and the very first thing she asked before even offering any help was, "What's your budget? So I can see if I have something," in an arrogant and dismissive tone. To this day, I don't understand why she was bothered by our presence or why she treated us that way. The moral of the story: give your business to those who treat you well. We ended up buying the dress at Peaches. I had to drive to the city, but the service we received there was outstanding--and, ironically, we were helped by young ladies, not by a woman over 40 who should know better. If I could give this place negative five stars, I would. My intention was to support a local business, but in the end, driving farther to the city was absolutely worth it for the professionalism and respect we received elsewhere. read more

I never leave reviews but for the amazing service I receive from the staff at Elegant Couture, I had to share my experience(s). I've shopped at almost every boutique around the Chicagoland area and none compare to the service that Eman has given. I've been shopping here for the past 4 years and each time, she goes above and beyond. I am never pressured into purchasing a dress and she always gives me her honest opinion. Not only that, when I procrastinate and need a dress in less than a week, she makes it happen! My most recent experience blew me away, I needed a dress in 8 days and Eman helped me make my choice, called the vendor multiple times to obtain details on the dress, somehow managed to get them to add additional length on the dress, in the color I wanted AND it arrived within 4 business days!! She kept me up to date on the status of the order. When the dress came in, she called multiple seamstresses to make sure I can alter my dress and have it ready in 1 day. If this isn't going ABOVE AND BEYOND for a customer, then I don't know what is. Elegant Couture treats you like family and not just a customer purchasing a dress. We came here to find a prom dress for my sister after seeing the good reviews on yelp compared to other dress shops relatively close to this one. From the minute that we walked in we were welcomed and walked through what to expect and how they work. It was so refreshing to be greeted by such friendly staff members. They give you "tags" to place on the dress hangers for any dress that you want to try on. The dresses are beautiful! It was hard to pick but once we narrowed it down to about 5, one of the staff members Eman pulled the dresses for my sister and some additional ones just to compare and perhaps try on one she would not have thought to try on. They provided clips to better see what the fitted version would look like and really helped us all narrow it down to two dresses and finally pick the one for my sister! Eman and the rest of the staff were all extremely helpful and patient. They didn't hover or try to give us their unwarranted input. They do have their in house seamstresses as well. I would suggest going ASAP if you or your daughter is looking for a perfect prom dress that one else will have (they make sure to register the dress for that particular high school). read more

If I could give this place less than 1 star, I would. DO NOT SHOP HERE! SCAM ARTIST! The entire experience once the dress I ordered arrived at the store was horrendous. Have you ever seen a beautiful picture of something online that you wanted to order, that got great reviews and then it showed up looking like a 6 year old in Asia sewed it? That is exactly what happened to me at Elegant Couture. They have a showroom full of gorgeous, high end dresses that they charge top dollar for and they order from dupe suppliers who's merchandise is trash. The quality of my dress that I ordered was sub par, and that's being generously kind. The other primary issue is that I brought a fabric swatch in when ordering to ensure that what I ordered matched the bridal party. I ordered a Hunter Green dress based on the swatch I match my fabric swatch to in their book. The dress that came in was a vibrant emerald and not even CLOSE to the color I expected to get based on the swatch I ordered from. The floor sample was a Medium and I ordered Large to be safe. The Large ended up fitting much smaller and tighter than the medium. Lots of issues with VERY sloppy stitching at the seams, Issues with the placement of details (sash) on the dress that were vastly different (inches) than the floor sample. Completely different material that was substantially lower quality. The WORST part is that I ordered this dress in advance as my Maid of Honor dress for my sisters wedding. By the time the dress arrived I had no other options to get something in time and was stuck with the mess that showed up. Everyone at the store (Malak especially) was so kind and concerned and agreed that this was huge discrepancy and unacceptable. They initially offered me shoes and accessories and I refused because those are already in place for the bridal party and I didn't need them. She extended a 15% off discount on my balance, which I accepted, but told her that I thought that was a good starting point - but would expect more than that given the severity of the issue with my order. They also offered to alter the dress and correct the issues with the fit and bodice, which I initially thought was kind. Turns out this owner is a scammer and after I agreed to the discount on the dress she then turned around and refused to discount the dress any more than 15% (which I feel is offensive given the scope of issues with the quality, fit and color). THEN she refused to release my dress (which was PAID IN FULL) to me unless I paid the $60 alteration fee to repair the dress. I WAS FURIOUS. I She only took $10 off and still forced me to pay the $50 charge; which I will be disputing with my bank because this is blackmail for more money and fraud. The reason for 90% of the alternations that needed to be made were due to the state the dress showed up in. I was even told that the store thought the issue was so egregious that they cancelled a number of future orders because of how concerning it was. Yet somehow, I'm supposed to be responsible for the cost of repairs to the dress I already paid over $300 for? Zero willingness to hear me on this concern and the owner and some other woman just kept defending themselves and why they are a good store and this isn't their fault. Well I didn't cause these issues, so why should I have to pay for repairing them?!!?!?!?!! Literally the WORST custom gown experience I have ever had. If you can get something for a good price off their floor, and you like it - great. but DO NOT ORDER A DRESS. Unless you are of similar middle eastern descent - they will scam you. read more

As soon I walked I did not have to wait, I was greeted by Dora and she explained to me how the shop worked. She gave me colored rings to put on the dress's Hangers that I wanted to try on. After that I was shown to a fitting room that had all my dresses ready to try on. They let you try on as many dresses as you want and they allow you take pictures of dresses on you (which other places don't). I didn't feel rushed at all. I came in with a budget and she respected it and helped me as much as possible, I was helped by Eman. When I say this women went above and beyond for me I mean it. I needed a dress within a very short time crunch and she went to Mac Duggal, picked it up to ensure it gets delivered in time and when I couldn't make it in time to grab it she personally brought it to me.
