Called in on 2/24 to inquire on some pivot bearing and headset install cost and person on the phone told me for 4 pivots and 1 headset should run about $20-30, great! Fast forward the next day stopped in and dropped them off and told me they'd take an hour or so. Upon calling to stop back in I'm being told the new price is $40 and I didn't even bring in my frame for the headset so $40 for 4 bearings. All good, figured I'd let them know when I arrived what I was originally quoted and see what happened. Told the guy when I got there I was quoted less than that and he says they were not easy install, confused by this he brings the arms over and say "sorry got a scratch on this one while trying to remove paint". What he handed me was an absolute joke at best. These arms were all professionally painted and masked off for bearing clearances from the beginning and it looks like they took a screw driver to them. You can see the very faint original paint where he chipped proving that shouldn't have been a problem and then scratched the out side too. There are also gouges on the back side and a big chip on a section they shouldn't have even touched! They dropped the bill to $30 and I walked out with absolutely destroyed paint. If they were not comfortable doing it they should had mentioned this from the beginning and not taken on the job. But they hacked it and now my bike looks terrible and I'm out $30 for a terrible install. If you care about your paint take your bearing installs elsewhere because these giant sponsored shops don't care. read more

We would give zero stars if it was possible here. The guy that runs this place is a complete con Artist. My son took his bike in that had just been tuned up there 6 months ago and it has not been ridden. Because he was injured and couldn't ride it. The guy tells him that it "needs a complete overhaul" my sons says how can you tell? He states "I could tell when you took it out of your truck! Nevertheless we took it to Gordy's and they went over the entire bike and my son only spent 80.00! read more

I've spent probably 500 dollars plus here, if not more. After the last tune-up,my wife's bike was worse, I took it back it in and the young long haired kid, as everyone here said,gave major tune-up. I dealt with him because we just have TWO BIKES tuned up. I just wanted my wife's to ride correctly. Funny the same issue that I JUST experienced , happened after the tune up It was obvious he didn't test ride the bike after the tuneup or he'd recognized the issue-the wheel rubs against the frame. So they kept saying it rode fine but it didn't. The bike rode worse after the tune up. So, I had my neighbor fix the hub so it didn't rub. So, I took her bike in again to replace a tube and he said nothing about a loose hub,nothing. I took the bike back just now and I got immediate attitude! He said he knew it was loose but since I was selling it he didn't mention it. What!!! I didnt say i was selling it today and of course i wanted issues fixed even though i was to sell it in the future.I said you could have told me man or fixed it since I have spent lots of money there. Also. There was zero issues with the tire rubbing against the frame before bringing it in and this is the 2nd time this has happened after picking it up. I mean come on man. Started going to Golden Spoke three years ago. It has been the best, 5 star, Bicycle repair shop in my area. Have always been happy. I carried my bike in today for a flat tire repair. As I was the second person to enter the store I didn't have to wait long. I had some slime put into the tube also. That was a mess. Last time I as in hey had several bike on good display. This time, not many new bikes but several old used beat up and dirty bikes. I will try them again but it appearances stay the same it will be my last visit. Hope they get back on track! read more

I fix my bike on a friday pick it up then on Monday, Tires are Flat. Go to the shop again, fix it and then on Thursday, BOTH TIRES ARE FLAT. Do not trust these guys at all they are horrible. read more

I got a bike here a few months ago, a brand new one. Unfortunately one day into riding, the pedal came off while I was on the trail in 90 degree weather. Luckily they sent one of their dudes all the way out to help fix my bike for me-which was great service because I was about 30 minutes away. But ideally the pedal shouldn't have fallen off anyways from day one-I wasn't going that hard. I suggest if you are new to Desert don't waste your time with the normal tires and get ones for the weather-also something I wish was explained to me because I came in here a few times more than I should have in the first month to change out my tires. I did mention upon buying my bike that I ride at least 4 or 5 times a week and just moved back to the US from Korea so I think from day one the right tires should have been put on for the weather. However the staff was all very knowledgeable and super friendly. read more

Don't believe their website when it comes to parts. Specifically wanted a Sunlite Cruiser brake set (sku 1911). Website said it was in stock. It seems they keep all their accessory parts in a small cabinet, and dont really know what they got. They had one part that wasnt even the same thing. I get the impression they just want you to leave your bike for them to order parts and do the work there. Guys; its 2 front and back brake caliper sets. I can do it...... These people are so nice. Today was my second visit. First visit was for my spin bike at home. I needed a wrench, clip pedals and the grease for the pedals. They had all of it and for great prices. Today I needed a tube for my BOB stroller. Handled it super fast and great prices. From phone call each time to ask if they had what I needed to in store, five stars. Do not go here. They don't care about making things right for customer. One of the guys talked me into getting a more expensive tube. Put it on and only got about 1 mile away from my house, then it popped. Got home and leak at valve stem. Took it back in, they couldn't see anything wrong with my rim but were insistent that we installed it wrong. I'm a mechanic and have a lot of experience changing tires. They wouldn't honor an exchange and kept sending things wrong with "how" it was installed wrong causing the tive to pop. They just argued and when I asked for a less expensive tube, they all the sudden didn't have any, without really looking!! Mgt didn't even step in to offer options for us. I had a flat I took the bike to them they up sold a few things charged $47 I brought the bike bake left in garage then noticed that was flat again I took it back to them they said leave it I did they called me to go pick it up when I went back they said $27 I asked what was the problem? they said they wouldn't know probably valve stem was missing air , I said if it was valve stem wouldn't be defected part ? one looked at other made fun of me and said he wouldn't know because he didn't damaged it , and the guy behind the counter was asking me if we could split the cost lol lol lol I said all together is only $27 but have a little courtesy just charge me $27 read more

I chose Golden Spoke based on Yelp reviews and overall services provided on their website. I recently had three bikes fixed, including a standard tandem bike that needed general maintenance after years of non-use. The two other adult bikes needed new gear-shifts and misc. repairs. Employee I dealt with "Tom" listened to my needs and respected my decisions on what work I wanted done without trying to sell-me high end parts and services. While I am mechanically inclined, I wanted to support a local business and complete the work in a short amount of time. I was delighted to receive a call that the work was completed (within about 2.5 days). They even stored my bikes since I could not pick-up until a week later, including helping me load into my car. Great bic shop. Living in the Valley's west end is almost always an opportunity to experience many aspects of Arizona Life. This bic shop offers bics for almost anyone who has joined our diverse state. I stopped by this shop to see if they carried an "e Bic", and found out that they do carry eBics. Amanda was the staff member who was a friendly, knowledgeable, and professional person. She was able to answer my questions or find out the answers if she didn't know. I personally appreciate being told if someone doesn't know something, and then adding to it--- the combo or finding the answer. They weighed the bic for me, they gave me the specs, told me about tire protection for the AZ thorns, milage from the batteries, AND they will assemble a bic if you buy it from someone else. (Just make sure to ask about the brand, like you would expect anywhere....) Overall, they seemed to have a bussiness that serves many people with different needs, in a healthy environment. I highly recommend them, and Amanda (working the floor today.) After researching beginners mountain bikes I settled on getting a Giant brand bike. These guys were the closest to me and they had the bike I wanted in stock. The salesman helped me and was very attentive to what I needed and spent the time I needed to get all the accessories I needed too. This place has a great selection of bikes and the staff is amazing! I called everywhere trying to get a 3 wheel bike for my mom who is a senior. Harder to find than you would think...Anyway they had several in stock. The guys were helpful with finding the right one for her and making sure it did not have options that she would not use like extra gears. My road bike was not shifting or engaging after a year or more of non-use, and I wanted also to add dual brakes. I did not intend to invest another 70 bucks into a tune up but after a glance over when I dropped it off they said the labor costs for both things would be absorbed into the tune up cost. This is the reason I like shopping with a small local place. I went in late in the afternoon with a leaky tire. He confirmed my suspicion that I would need a new tube and proceeded to install it while we chatted about bicycles and small business climate. Then he tried to charge me less than the service was worth, especially as I did not have to make a second trip back to pick up the tire. My tandem-mate and I took our "bicycle made for two" here for a standard tune-up since we hadn't had one since we bought the bike. The staff (owner maybe?) was very friendly and knowledgeable about our bike: an example, he told us that Shimano, the maker of our tandem, was notorious for poor gears. Our bike did, in fact, have a hard time shifting gears. But when we picked it back up he fixed them! The Golden Spoke is a great place for a cheap tune-up (only $40!).
