Seasons chicken with fried rice special on Wednesday's!

Good food and fast! It was fresh and cooked to order! When I need a Chinese fix, this will be my spot!

    Orange tofu

Came down for Mothers' Day a few weeks back. I don't believe I'd actually been here since I left Athens. But anyway, ordered the orange tofu with a fried eggroll. The eggroll was crispy and hot, which was a plus. The orange tofu was ok. I like the way it was fried, but the sauce was a tad sweet for my taste - not usually a huge fan of too much sweet in my entrée. The owners and servers were all very polite and fast, so props for that, and the food was not very expensive. So, not exceptional, but if you want quick, decent Chinese food, this is the go to place for the East side of Athens.

I wish I could give zero stars. I found this lengthy hair in my food after waiting half an hour longer than the already hour long wait. The food was already barely edible and stale until of course we stopped due to the huge sanitary issue. Please save your time and money and go to Panda Express.

Fried rice was bland and basically brown rice. Sesame chicken meat was sorta questionable but big portion size

OK it is crazy that I can recall this building and restaurant from 1986 when I graduated UGA…read more However I have never been here before that I can remember. I wanted some Chinese food today and after a brief Yelp search we decided that today we would go to Peking! The name itself is old school, how long ago has it been since Beijing took over? The outside of the building sure looks like a 1970's - 80's Chinese restaurant. The interior continues the retro look, and is exactly what I was hoping to see. The certificate of occupancy at the entrance says 1988 but I am certain there has been a restaurant here for longer. Ok on to the food. Yelpers say there is a huge menu here. That must be for dinner. The lunch menu has all your basic and expected Chinese menu items as a lunch combo. The TLDR is the food was good but not great, everything needed more seasoning. Our combos started with hot and sour soup with the required chips. The soup was sour yes, but could have used some more spice. My general Tso chicken came out hot and crispy. Seemed to be all white meat but was cooked a little too long so not exactly tender and juicy. The sauce was red and sweet. Sometimes the General adds some vegetables, but not today. Although the menu had the hot pepper symbol by this item, no spice detected. The rice was fine, seemed to be lightly stir fried with egg bits. The egg roll was a limp instrument with some kind of meat in it. It tasted fine. Megan had the beef and broccoli. There was plenty of both beef and broccoli and other veggies included. The problem again was lack of seasoning. The meal was sauced together with a bland tan gravy like you might put on some roast beef. Even though her plate said "Peking" on it, Megan did not like her meal so we split my huge chicken plate, which she liked a lot. This lunch was a good example of the old "the food is not great but the portions are huge" saw. Service was not fast but was ok. I would give this another try for dinner, but probably not lunch.

The restaurant is very friendly and also Chinese cultural designs. Have to try it yourself ! Huge hole in the spot even though the place is literally a kingdom. 10/10

We also needed to do our laundry, there's our dinner spot had to be in the area of our laundry mat. Prerequisites: He looked for a menu, and the golden rule: if you look at Google pictures and there are NO Chinese people posting pictures, it's NOT legit food. A to Z Grocery and Chinese Food reminded me of the family owned establishments I'd visit when abroad. You could go to a restaurant, but the real deal would be in the back of a corner "everything" shop. What to expect: A small hole in the wall place with everything you need, even a slot machine in the back. The place had a steady stream of people coming in to get whatever they needed from cigarettes to chips and baking soda. They even make "American Food" hamburgers, fries, etc. This was straight up in the middle of nowhere, and looked kinda busted from outside. Okaaaay, I'm down 100%! We walked in to two white folding tables in the center of a small "everything" market. I knew I was in the right place. I asked the young man at the checkout counter, "are you still serving food?" It was 15 minutes before closing. Yes! I ordered the sweet & sour chicken and Crab Rangoons. (Safe rarely disappointing meal.) 2 minutes later I hear the fryer in the back being slayed over. Noice! Cooked to order. I asked if they had any rooster sauce for sale - my mission to find some after they factory stopped making it over a year ago is real. #facts The young man didn't know what rooster sauce was, but his family member came out with a BIG jar and knew what I was referring to. Those who know, KNOW! HIM:"They don't sell this anymore" ME: "I know!" None for sale, but they gave me a to-go cup full. Awe, how nice! Perfect for my corn beef hash Filipino style I planned to make for my Friday meal. The food came out SUPER hot! FYI this is "American" Chinese food, not the food you'd find in mainland China. I don't think my guy would eat that TBH. Unless it's duck. We got exactly what we were looking for: Hot, fresh, family owned, everything market food. They were closing a few minutes after we were served (9pm). The young man said we can eat, he "wouldn't mind staying after closing". I loved that. Left him a tip just for that. This will be our regular laundry night in Cornelia food spot. The drive to it is off the road - which is something we gravitate toward. Adventure time! I highly recommend A to Z Grocery and Chinese Food if you want quick & fresh American Style Chinese food. REASONS TO VISIT: 1.Reasonable prices 2. Great service 3. Family owned 4. Full menu 5. Decent flavors 6. Legit Chinese corner everything store ambiance
