I would strongly not recommend this business. At some point, after paying the materials deposit I thought that I've been scammed because of how poor the communication was. It took over 4 months from the original installation date for him to come out and install it. Allan will reply right away to your messages and even commit to a day, but will not show up and ghost you. Keeps ghosting and ghosting. Commits but doesn't follow through. GOLDEN STATE COUNTERS - If you can't commit to a job, just don't accept it. You wasted my time, my fiancé's time, and my property manager's time. --- I never go out of my way to leave a bad review because I'm an easy-going, forgiving person, but this has been an unacceptable experience with Golden State Countertops. We rescheduled with them not once, not twice, not three times... FOUR TIMES. I moved around my work schedule FOUR times only for them to still not show up. 1st chance: Originally they were supposed to come and measure my bathroom counter on Aug 25, but never showed up nor communicated with me or my property manager. It wasn't until my property mgr reached out to them way after their agreed window of time that they said a family emergency occurred. Okay, I'll let that slide. 2nd chance: I rescheduled with them for Sep 12 between 3-5pm. I even reached out the day before to make sure and they confirmed. The day of at 4:58pm I didn't hear a peep from them, so I texted asking when we can expect their arrival and I don't get a straight answer out of him til about 7 PM that he apparently mixed me up with another client and that he's over an hr away. OKAY that's a sloppy way of handling your clients. 3rd chance: So I rescheduled AGAIN for them to come Sep 19 between 3-5pm. He assures me he'll be here 4:45pm, but at 4pm he shows me he's 1 hr 9 minutes away. Okay, that's already after 3-5pm window AND after the 4:45 ETA given. Anyway, that much time passes and of course I don't get an update. At 5:30pm I ask where he's at and he blames traffic and tells me his ETA is 6:55 PM. 4th chance: SO I RESCHEDULE AGAIN for him to come today 8-9am. He tells me he'll be here 8:15am. Unfortunately this pattern continues. He doesn't show up nor communicate he's running late or anything. It's evening time and still haven't heard from him. He ghosted me. I kept my property manager up to date the whole time and after this he said he will no longer continue doing business with Golden State Counters. read more

We called Alan for a quote and he came out the same day. My wife and I were not sure what to decide, so Alan gave us a lot of options to choose from. He was honest, fair and very helpful. I would recommend him and his crew to anyone. Please see the before and after photos. We chose the Fantasy Brown quartz, which as a leathered texture. I contacted Allan through Yelp last Tuesday for a quote for a granite countertop install. Within minutes he responded and asked for a picture and general dimensions. If you want an honest and communicative contractor don't call Golden State Countertops. Alan doesn't honor his word and totally disappears rather than communicate like a professional. I had to get a new sink so the holes in my slab were wrong. Alan graciously agreed to come back and redo the hole when I received the new sink. Upon its arrival I text Alan, they way we had always communicated, NO response. I sent him the exact same text several days - NO response. I again sent a text and let him know I could see he read my texts -- still NO response. I called his number and he text me asking if he could call me later -- NO call back; never heard from him. Alan and his crew have very poor customer service. His crew came to my house and didn't talk to me until they were finished with the job. Do yourself a favor don't use Golden State Countertops. The scheduled countertop installation was delayed more than once and communicating with Allan was a huge challenge. I couldn't reach him by phone and he wasn't responding to my texts. He eventually responded and we scheduled the install. During install, we noticed that one slab was cut too small. Although I explicitly asked for equal overhang, including around the peninsula, the front side of the peninsula was installed with no overhang. Allan was not at the job site during installation, so I texted him about this problem and sent him photos. He insisted that "being flush with the doors is an overhang" but this is not accurate and inconsistent with what we discussed. I was explicit about having equal overhang all around. Right now the junction between the countertop and cabinet is visible and just looks bad (see photo). I am hopeful he'll fix this, but I haven't heard back from him yet. read more

We had the best experience working with Allan and his team! We remodeled our kitchen and shopped around for over a month. We have a custom kitchen and were having trouble finding a place that carried large slabs. We have a large island and did not want a seam running through it. We visited several countertop stores around the Bay Area and the east bay. Finally, I found supreme granite and marble on Yelp and decided to give him a call. My husband and I met with him that day, picked out the quartz we wanted, got a quote and installation date all in one day! Allan really made us feel comfortable and answered any questions we had etc. Allan and his team did an awesome job and I'm in love with the way my kitchen turned out and the work that they did. My experience doesn't seem to match the rest of the reviews here, but i will go ahead and share my experience anyway. I had high hopes that Alan would do a stellar job, however I was more than disappointed It is really hard to get him to respond to texts He shows up late to appointments, and sometimes cancels at the last minute He showed up to measure my guest bathroom and powder room 25 minutes late, when he knew the only free slot on my calendar was the 30 minute window we agreed on When he returned with the fabricated product, he had centered the sinks in the double vanity with the doors on the cabinet, not with the width of the cabinet so they look odd There is a crack in the double vanity that he never even mentioned, or bothered to smooth out And here's the worst of it: The single vanity counter top, he centered it with the doors of the cabinet, not the actual width of the cabinet (including the drawers) which meant the sink was next to the wall on one side, with a huge counter top on the other side. When I told him not to install it because it was totally unacceptable, I asked him what the heck were you thinking???? He agreed to fabricate a replacement, but then changed his mind because "she treated me with disrespect" He said he would return my unused product, but didn't. After numerous text exchanges we decided to drive to his place to pick the material up. We texted him and told him, he called us immediately and PROMISED he would deliver the next day, between 5-6pm. But he didn't deliver it I had to threaten him with small claims court - he then returned my product. Go figure. Returned it after weeks and weeks of me waiting I would recommend you stay away from this guy, unless you don't mind being jerked around read more
