I have been coming to Irina at Golden Thread for about 4 years now. The first time I went to her I had her hem an evening gown for a work party, which could have been risky seeing how I found her shop on my own and had never been there before. She was really sweet to me, she complimented me and said I looked beautiful in my dress, and she did an amazing job at hemming it! The price was so reasonable which made the experience even better. Since then, I have had her hem everything from bridesmaids dresses and everyday dresses, jeans, and even some nice Nike yoga pants that were way too long. She always does an amazing job and she's thorough. I brought in a very expensive and gorgeous Adrianna Papell bridesmaid dress to have her hem it and she made sure I brought my stilettos that I planned to wear with it before she would even touch the dress. That just goes to show how much she cares about getting it right the first time around! When I pick up my items she always has me try everything on before leaving to make sure I'm happy with her work. Her shop is really easy to find in the TJ Maxx parking lot, plenty of parking, and her prices are so great. Jeans were about $10-15/pair to have them shortened, same with my yoga pants. The formal gowns have ranged from $25-40 to be shortened and taken in on the sides. Highly highly recommend her! read more

Couldn't be happier with the work Irena does. Everything she tailored for me was impeccable. She is also a perfectionist (which I appreciate!) Irina did and incredible job on a bridesmaid dress alteration. I was in a pinch and she was able to complete my alterations by the time I needed them! 2-3 weeks prior to the needed date is a good rule to follow. I came in last week to hem get my prom dress hemmed. That would cost me about $20. However, I the prom dress I ordered online finally came in (it was supposed to come in after my prom because it got delayed). So I asked if I could get back the other dress I brought in originally and get dress #2 hemmed instead. Irina was very nice and understanding about it. However dress #2 would cost $25 to alter and I believe that is because the fabric was different. She also had her dog, Lucy, in the shop but she was very well behaved. My dress is scheduled for pickup on March 31. Today is March 21. I will update this review when I pick up the dress. So far, I am very pleased with this business's customer service and dedication to provide a quality product. It's March 21 and I picked up my dress. I'm very please with the outcome. So unprofessional.... I dropped my bridesmaid dress off 2 weeks prior to the day I needed it. She tells me it will be ready and that is plenty of time. Fast forward to two weeks later, she calls me the morning of, shortly before I was going to pick it up, and has the audacity to ask me when I need it done. Seriously!? I needed it done that day. She gets it done in the afternoon. When I go to pick it up she says sorry but says "oh I get it done see?" It was done so last minute. Honestly didn't seem to care I was upset. I brought in some skirts that needed to be hemmed and taken in. All of my pieces were done perfectly, even those with complex seams that were part of the design. She took her time pinning each skirt in place, checked to see if I like the fit, and repeated the process with the finished skirts to make sure I was happy with her alterations. If I could give this place zero stars! I wish I didn't pay up front. I asked her to fix the zipper on one of my pants. The zipper is a bronze color and she very cheaply stuck a silver loop and hook on to it. It wouldn't even lay flat. It would have been sticking out. I came to Scottsdale for the Fiesta bowl. I tried to hem the skirt I wanted to wear for the game myself. Big mistake. It was uneven and one side was cute 6 inches too short. Not only did Irina fix my skirt (which I assumed would be impossible) but she showed me what I had done wrong, PLUS FIXED IT WHILE I WAITED. The price was great. Less than a week before my sister's wedding, my Maid of Honor dress FINALLY arrived from David's Bridal. Because of my curves, the dress was a size 14, and needed to be altered to my size 8 frame. With minimal time before my departure, I found this gem- by word of mouth- to have altercations done! On Monday, Irena gladly took my stressed exhaustion and promised to have the dress done by Thursday at Noon. The store was so clean and decorated fit for both a Queen and King. Simple yet fancy...I received a call Tuesday BEFORE noon that she would have the dress ready for pick up anytime I could come in. She had my dress finished less than 24 hrs from drop off, and more than 72 hours from the promised date. She is so kind and lovely and was very meticulous! I'm not a seamstress by any means but most likely could have done a better job. I ended up spending twice the money to get them taken care of by a real professional.
