The restaurant was warm and welcoming, with fun decorations that made the night feel special right away. The food was the real star. Our table was loaded with beautifully presented sushi rolls and dishes, and every single one tasted as good as it looked. The rolls were fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned, with a great balance of textures and sauces. You can tell a lot of care goes into both the preparation and presentation. The food was delicious, I ordered honey walnut prawns, fried rice and miso soup. I didn't receive my soup until right before my entree. I ended up only eating a few spoonfuls. My honey walnut prawns were really good. The wait staff was a little slow even though the restaurant was not busy. We were there at lunchtime. The table surfaces did not feel clean at all. The floor was incredibly sticky. We were there for 2 birthdays and the 2 ladies were serenaded by the staff. The 2 ladies also received special birthday desserts. I was super glad to see this place when I searched for sushi on Yelp. I was craving fish bad. It is in the plaza near the ACE Hardware and easy to find. I like to sit at the Sushi bar and maybe shoot the breeze with the team that is making the dishes. The server was a very pleasant young man and he was good, real good. In fact, the entire group was amazing. The 2 fellas behind the counter were real busy, but still made time to chat. My order was big because I was dying of hunger. LOL First out was the Himachi sashimi, 6 thick cut slices of buttery, delicious yellowtail. I was very happy. The rolls were next and the server named and described them all. Each plate was beautiful, I wish I had done a better job of remembering my order. After gorging myself, they asked if I wanted a dish of Ice Cream on the house. There's so much to say about this place, so I'll categorize it into food, service, atmosphere, and general information. Food: the food was fantastic, especially for the price. My husband and I each got a roll and the combination appetizer platter and it was $45. We were full and had to bring some food home. They also bring you a can of soda and a glass of ice so you get the whole can instead of whatever the ice doesn't fill. Tasted great and was super filling. Service: our waiter was wonderful, he was prompt and checked on us regularly throughout the meal. He was kind and made sure we felt comfortable. The food came out surprisingly fast, it's the fastest I've ever gotten food from a Japanese cuisine place. (As a side, my husband and I are VERY Caucasian and honestly look like we wouldn't know what to do if provided chopsticks but Chopsticks were provided without question) Atmosphere: it was quiet and gentle, with ambient piano music playing quietly in the background. All the patrons were mellow and kept conversations to themselves. It was a perfect date night spot and was very pleasant and calming. General: you walk in and seat yourself, there was no sign that I noticed, but the employees let you know to sit. They bring you menus and give you a chance to look them over. I felt like it was a good amount of time between being sitting and being brought menus, and being brought menus and ordering. There's a little fish pond right when you walk in that adds even more personality to the location. The bathrooms were clean and maintained. The location was clean and maintained. The quality of the food is just absolutely fantastic. I mean this has to be my favorite place to get a meal in town. I've been coming here since I was a young kid. But something about consistency has just been regularly slipping when ordering deliver and even sometimes in person in the restaurant :( It's a struggle for some reason, for me to consistently get one of my favorite things on the menu the way I want it because that's the only way I enjoy it. If I order delivery, I almost always end up missing part of my order or it's just completely wrong. If I directly say "this sauce instead" when ordering on the website, I'm certain to see it on my receipt when I get my order but more often than not I don't end up receiving. In person when dining in, the same thing often happens. If I go in a group part of my order ends up never getting rung in. You get delicious white rice with your choice of two or three different food items. 1) I usually get teriyaki salmon or teriyaki pork 2) Goza (yoza dumplings). 3) California Rolls Still the best place to eat Japanese food! I went there for my birthday this year. They gave me a free fried mint ice cream dessert. They sang happy birthday to me in their native language first and then in English! We all had a good time. We where in town for a family graduation. Wanted something not fast food or chain branch. This quiet place is perfect. I am horrible at taking pictures but I can say everything we ordered and sampled was amazing. Fresh, well seasoned without being over seasoned. I feel the portion size was spot on. Price to quantity is perfect. Quality is off the charts. After our meal our server suggested a green tea ice cream. However being very full I felt I could sample some. I was so glad I did. VEGETARIAN ALERT. Passing through town, I decided to check out the local vegetarian options. What could go wrong at a Japanese restaurant? Ordering take-out online was easy and the Vegetable Yaki Noodle was hot ready for me in the time it took to drive there from south of I-80. Since I didn't have tempura or sushi which other reviewers seem to love, I don't want to trash the place. But highlight of my meal was the side salad of iceberg lettuce. The heavy noodles were semi-leavened with overcooked mushrooms and zucchini, plus broccoli and shaved carrots. I found some green onions by sight, but not taste. This clean plate club kid ate maybe a quarter of it before giving up. It's possible the hot food continued to cook in the sealed container inside a knotted plastic bag as I made a stop on the way back to the hotel. Since I didn't dine in, I didn't have a chance to consult with the staff on my choice. If you're eating vegetarian, you may want to do that. read more

Decided we really wanted Asian food on our road trip and found this cute little restaurant tucked in a strip shopping center. However, driving thru the old downtown area on Dewey you see a number of charming shops and restaurants that look worth another visit. Our dining experience was really good. Residents of North Platte or any and all who are staying in/passing through this town, definitely check this place out; it is a hidden gem. My family and I were traveling across country and decided to spend the night in North Platte. and I am glad we did. Upon looking at the food options that were available, I was very excited to see places that weren't the typical crappy fast food joints but rather some family owned and operated business, including Tempura. After looking at the very expansive menu, we decided this was the place and boy were we hungry, we got so much! Among the food we got were a few sushi rolls, some udon soup, katsudon donburi, and the fried wings. Not only was the food good and came with extra sides such as miso soup and side salads, the courses themselves were huge, like, you will definitely have leftovers huge! We got this food to go so we could eat it in our hotel room and the drive there gave us a look at North Platte. At first it seems like a struggling midwestern town but upon closer inspection, there were signs of life in it's almost dead downtown. Small businesses and restaurants for those who ventured a few miles into town. The restaurant sits in an older strip mall next to a seemingly popular pizza place. The inside is clean and welcoming and decorated very nicely, children (seemingly the owners', are playing on their Ipad in the kitchen), and the restaurant is about half full but you could tell there were a lot of takeout orders. My one complaint is the food did take about 20 minutes longer to make than originally quoted but that gave us plenty of time to scope out the place and surrounding area. read more

Driving through Nebraska and having a hankering for Asian food can be scary, but this place did the job. Very large menu, very nice people, decent crowd for a Sunday afternoon. Nothing wa particular was good enough to say "be sure you get the..." but then again nothing requires a word of warning. In a large cosmopolitan area this might get a 3.5, but I was very pleased for where we were at. There were a number of Asian people eating there too. I heard Chinese being spoken (thank you in Mandarin) but not sure what the other groups were. Hope this helps. read more

For a restaurant reviewed by 50 people and an average rating of 4 out of 5 stars, one would think this place had some credibility, but sadly no. The Seafood Vegetable Tempura was undercooked. Tempura batter should be light and provide a thin coating that cooks evenly. I'm guessing the shrimp tempura was commercially prepared and frozen, not freshly battered and then not cooked long enough. The scallops and vegetable tempura looked golden brown on the outside, but just one bite revealed the tempura was too heavy leaving it doughy on the inside, which ruined the experience. I suggest the pull this from the menu until they debug the problem with the batter recipe or fryer temperature. Yuki Udon with Shrimp: For a land locked restaurant we know the shrimp was frozen, but the taste and texture of the shrimp was acceptable. What wasn't acceptable was the amount of oil used to fry the noodles. One bite had me finishing my shrimp and leaving the rest. Sushi Combination Dinner (E0): Visually, this dish was well prepared, but the fish had no taste. Other reviewers encountered the same problem with fresh fish here. read more
