Super cute swim school with an island-type feel (yeah I know we live on Long Island)...but when you come here you feel some tropical vibes. My son came here for his bestie's birthday party and he had a blast. They had kick boards to splash around with and had life vests for all of the children. There is also a bathroom inside the pool area so you don't have to walk back inside dripping water everywhere when your little one has to go. This is a nice touch. The changing areas are plentiful and they have a large viewing area for parents not swimming with their child or for watching during lessons without being on the pool deck. Being that it was a party I think it would have been nice if they had a game or something to rally the kids together but it was more of a free for all to splash and play. There is also a table area with crayons and coloring sheets if you need a break from the water. Overall this place is bright, colorful and I would consider bringing my son here for swimming lessons in the near future. read more

On July 16, 2022 at approximately 1pm,  after dropping off  my child to their swim instructor ; I proceeded to find a chair so that I could sit down.  It was unusually crowded on this particular  day, however I did manage to  find a seat but before sitting down, I asked the parent sitting down next to the unoccupied chair if  this seat was available and their response was: yes. I then sat down in the chair and immediately noticed   a parent staring at me as they were turning around in their chair  and said: that's my chair!!! I then proceeded to move to the chair that they had been using.  After sitting down in the seat that they were previously using, they said: that's my chair, too! I then proceeded to locate another seat (I just had major surgery on both of my feet, and was in a lot of pain). After sitting to the far right of the parent, it was then that they started screaming,  berating, bullying and verbally assaulting me in front of my teenage son and the other parents in that area.   Next, after feeling violated and humiliated I went to the front desk to ask to speak with the General Manager. I was then told that the GM had been made aware of the situation however they were not available at that time.  As I was walking back to my seat, the GM passed by  me and did not acknowledge my presence nor did they apologize what had just  transpired. So I waited, but then realized that the GM was talking to the other parents involved. They should have immediately spoken with me  before discussing this matter with the other family. So I patiently waited to speak with the GM. It was then that I asked if we could discuss this matter. Their response was: sure, come in. Never once did they apologize or sound remorseful regarding this disconcerting incident. The GM then proceeded to say that: they have gathered information from other parents in the waiting area and spoke with a family who they have a good rapport with, to get their side of the story .The GM should have spoken to me immediately after the situation had  occurred. Instead, they were unapologetic and dismissive. During our brief meeting, there was a power outage that lasted for about fifteen minutes. Upon returning to their office  and seeing me in the area outside of the changing room - they did not acknowledge my presence, again.  After waiting for several minutes, I knocked on their office door and asked: can we finish discussing this matter? Their response was: sure, but I think I have all the information that I need at this time. It was at that moment where I was left to feel inadequate and dismissed. The GM also stated that they would  escalate this matter to their Corporate Office to find out if they could ban the other family from  the swim school. I am still waiting to hear if anything has been done. Instead, after posting my review on Google and Yelp, the GM stated one of the options was to change my child's  current swim schedule, which is unfair - since I am the victim of harassment. They also stated in their response to my review; that I should reach out to them to further discuss this matter. Why should I have to contact them? My kids have been at Goldfish Swim School in Centereach for over a year now, and all three of them have had a positive experience and have learned a lot. The teachers have been encouraging and supportive, and the entire facility is planned with families in mind. Now, during COVID, lessons just restarted, and I've been encouraged by how well they've planned and thought through details to keep everyone safe. Beware before you join this program. I signed up my 11 month old Granddaughter with the promise swimming lessons. She was in a Tues night 6:30 class in Centereach NY. The good stuff: 1 instructor and 1 trainee with 2 other students. Good ratio. Place is clean and staff of friendly. The bad: I was told the instructor would show parents how to begin teaching their kids to swim. Maybe how to practice kicking legs and arms, beginning stages of going under water, learn to float, some basic stuff. What I really got was use of the pool and pool toys and instructors that talk with each other and ocassionally interact with students to give them a new toy or floating mirror. In the begining I assumed this was first class and at some point they would start teaching something. After a few weeks I brought my concerns to the Manager Joann Barberio she offered to switch me to a better instructor ( Why do they have instructors that aren't very good? ) When I requested to cancel I was told I need to pay for another 30 days- no exceptions. I said I was promised lessons and I am not receiving them. Oh well, its in the contract, your out of luck. My rating gets 2 stars -1 for cleanliness and 1 for friendly staff. $300 bucks down the tube. - Thank you for the canned response below. You suggest contacting office mgr. I have been bringing my almost 4 year old son to Goldfish for about a year now and the progress is SUPER SLOW and the classes end 5 minutes as well as getting called in to start the class as the class should be beginning in the water. My son is lucky if he spends a full 5-10 minutes in the actual pool. The customer service team behind the desk is helpful so I don't want to get any employees in trouble. I'm disappointed in such slow progress and they haven't evaluated my son to see if he's ready to move up. I'm concerned that an emergency situation my son may not be prepared. read more

This place is so ridiculous they won't let you pay cay cash unless it 3 months that your paying. I cancel my membership temporarily and they told me I could not use my make-up tokens which I already payed for it until I am a member again. read more

Extremely unsatisfied with this companies service. My daughter was supposed to start her swimming lessons at 5pm. I arrived and was told that the swimming lessons were cancelled, due to "pool maintenance". I was not notified via phone call nor email beforehand. (keep in mind i live 40 minutes away; and had to leave work for these swimming lessons). The manager was not understanding at all, also non-sympathetic. The experience i had today is not a good start for the companies reputation. Especially because they just opened today. They not only inconvenienced my tolder and I, but other children and families as well. This issue could have easily been prevented if they would have contacted and informed everyone beforehand. If they're having issues on the first day, i don't even wanna imagine the issues they're going to have in the nearby future. Since i already payed the first month for the lessons unfortunately i have to continue on with the classes (i was not offered a refund at any point in time). Amazing place! So clean, staff and instructors are so nice! Samantha the manager is the best!!! My kids love Ms Gina and Ms Jillian but everyone is really super awesome! Totally recommend this place! This is a fantastic swimming school! I am so glad we made the switch! Instructors are loving, friendly and fun! My three year old daughter had a blast while learning lots of new skills (today she mastered "crabwalking" and worked on pulling herself out of fhe pool. Armosphere feels like you are away at a resort- colorful tiki huts are provided for changing. Entire facility is clean, bright and new. I can't say enough about the instructors! You can tell they love their jobs and truly care about the kids. Location is great and very central to most suffolk towns. Shopping center has plenty of shopping and food options. I wholeheartedly reccomend this facilty! read more

The actual instructors here are very nice, although my sons progress was not tracked once in months of lessons. Lessons are not as advertised as 30 minutes. If your child's lesson is 4-4:30, the children are not even called into the room until after 4. As it takes them a couple of minutes to get situated, it wipes a couple of minutes off of the 30 minute lesson. Then, they literally have an employee waiting at the door to end the lessons the second the clock strikes 4:25, a full 5 minutes early. So what is advertised as a 30 minute lesson is much closer to 20. There is no way to cancel your membership online, or any other way other than physically signing a form in person. When I explained that I was unhappy and wanted to unenroll but I do not physically bring my son, management was rude and refused to budge. I said I would scan in the form, etc, but no, they would not be flexible even though they failed to provide the service in full, and said they would leave a form at the desk for me, which definitely does not help my situation of not being able to get there. I can't say enough great things about Goldfish Swim School in Centereach. Our experience has been amazing. The facility is beautiful and immaculate - every last detail has been well thought out. We were able to schedule both our three year old and six year old lessons at the same time which is extremely convenient. It is so important for our children to learn how to swim and we are confident enrolling in this swim program will allow them to reach this milestone. Swim instructors Jenna and Victoria have been amazing and we can see our children progressing week to week. My little guy was having quite the meltdown day one and then Logan came to the rescue - he was extremely helpful, patient, caring - going completely above and beyond - they became buddies - he was great! Our kids look forward to and are excited to go to their lessons. We highly recommend Goldfish! We will be safely swimming by summertime! read more
