We love goldfish!! My kiddo moved up the levels quickly b/c the teachers there are very good at what they do. I can't believe bear paddle and kids first swim are even in the same league as goldfish. We went to both of those places. Other parents told me their kids have been taking lessons at bear paddle for 2 years without knowing how to swim. That's such a waste of time! My daughter has been taking swim classes at this location since February and the experience has been really great. We love AHK's instructor and love the ability to makeup classes when we need to. The facility is clean and they do a great job at communicating if there are any changes to the schedule. Prices are comparable to the other neighboring swim schools, but we liked Goldfish because they are offered times on Sundays, which works best for our schedule. I am writing this review out of pure frustration after bringing several issues to management's attention multiple times with no resolution. We have decided to pull our child from this facility and look elsewhere. Two major issues remain unaddressed: Freezing Showers: Ever since the renovation in December 2025, the showers are unusable. The water turns ice-cold after just a couple of minutes. Expecting children to rinse off in freezing water--especially during the winter months--is unacceptable. Lack of Instructional Time: Each 30-minute session is crowded with 4 children. By the time the instructor rotates through everyone, each child gets very little actual "learning" or active swimming time. It feels more like expensive supervised splashing than a swim lesson. We joined Goldfish expecting a premium experience, but the lack of maintenance and the poor student-to-instructor value have made it impossible to stay. If you're looking for a school that values feedback and prioritizes student progress, I would suggest looking elsewhere. read more

READ FIRST!!! My 5 year old got 3 ear infections in 4 months at this place after never having had one before! I canceled his membership on 12/08 and hasn't been there in longer than that. They still want to charge me in the month of January because it wasn't a full 30 day notice, as if that matters. The manager couldn't care less, more interested in telling me why I should still be giving money to this DIRTY POOL even when my son is never going back! Total con job! Instructors are more worried about splashing the kids in the face and flirting with each other than teaching. You'll be lucky if your kid gets 8+ minutes of swim time for a $33 half hour session. He started out with no experience being in the pool ever and after a year or so, I can see he has made great progress! The staff is super nice and professional! We thought Goldfish would be good based off of reviews but this is far from reality. Front desk staff doesn't know up from down. We were told the incorrect name of the instructor on day 1 and said instructor never corrected us for 3 months. About 3 months into my son's lessons, they switched original instructor and failed to notify us ahead of time. We didn't know until we got to the lesson. My son was upset by this because he is only 2 years old. It would have been courteous to know ahead of time and to also have the option to switch to his original instructor's new schedule. But again, we weren't even given the option. The new instructor seemed like she was not knowledgeable of my son's skill level and therefore was clueless on how to proceed with that lesson. My son was also put into a class with an older child who was more advanced. It seemed like they had carelessly condensed two skill level classes together because it was more convenient for the staff. The instructor tried to get my son to do the more advanced skills (like sit on the step in the water vs sit on the edge of the pool to wait for his turn like he did prior) my son was squirming and one of the lifeguards actually got down on one knee in his face and shouted "stop moving! Sit back!". The lifeguards should be trained on how to communicate with children of all ages. Yelling in a toddlers face is not the way to go. Other issues I witnessed first hand were lifeguards groaning in annoyance when students showed up for free swim time-as if they were annoyed they had to work more. I noticed used bandaids on the floor in the showers. When I called to discuss everything with a manager, no solutions were offered and I was told that I had to give 30 days notice to cancel my enrollment. I decided to just finish out the month since we had no choice but to pay for it. After enrollment cancellation and giving honest feedback on the form, we were not greeted by staff upon walking into school. Normally they would make a huge deal and say hello to my son by name, but we were completely ignored. Lesson seemed like the instructor was just playing with my son in the water-not really teaching. Lifeguards who were normally friendly wouldn't make eye contact or speak to me. Definitely do not recommmend goldfish swim school. The staff are clearly inexperienced and unfit to work with children. Management and staff also don't know how to properly communicate with parents when issues arise. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. Plenty of other swim schools in the area. read more

My sons have always loved going to Goldfish, but my middle guy has always struggled in the water. After a year of lessons, we weren't noticing much progress as he still refused to swim unassisted and to put his face under the water. (This was despite the Herculean efforts of Coach Lexi! What a gem she is because I can't imagine it was easy working with our stubborn little guy each week). This week our son started working with Coach Dan and to our complete shock- he was swimming unassisted by the end of the lesson!!! Coach Dan was patient, supportive and kind. It was impressive to watch this lesson unfold. We cannot recommend Goldfish enough, but we most definitely recommend Coach Dan and Coach Lexi! read more

I really enjoy taking my son to this swim school. He has become so comfortable in the water. A lot of the exercises that are taught in class I'm able to implement during bath time or when swimming a the lake near my home. Not only are the lessons practical for parents to teach their little ones but the staff is so flexible with scheduling. A couple of weeks into my son's lesson I got a new job so my schedule changed and they allowed me to change the days. There was also a time I couldn't make the class due to a co flick with time and they allows me to come in at a time that worked with my schedule that day. The classes are small so my son gets attention from the instructor but the focus is main on parents bonding with the babies so we are going through the exercises with them. The changing rooms are good sizes, especially the family room. The staff members are friendly and helpful. The water in the pool is a comfortable temperature. Lastly, The price is fair and probably the best because I was shopping around prior to making my decision. read more

My granddaughter's instructor, Fatima is excellent! She has a warm and welcoming demeanor. She manages a 4 student lesson in a very orderly, but gentle manner. She has command of her 4 student lesson as she provides independent instruction to each student based on their skill level for the class level. She has a pleasant encouraging nature which has encouraged my granddaughter to work hard to overcome her discomfort with merging her face in water. We've left great reviews of Goldfish Swim School however I realize that a lot of our experience was solely based on the swim instructors. We had the pleasure of having two great instructors, Mr. Walt and Mr. Dan. Both of which were phenomenal with working with children with special needs. However, since they have both left Goldfish. The quality of the other instructors just aren't the same. We have tried a dozen unfortunately we opted to unenroll my boys and try somewhere else. read more

My boys love Goldfish Swim School. My younger son was very scared at first but his instructor, Mr. D (Danard), is great with him. He makes him feel comfortable and constantly encourages him. He has so much more confidence in the pool now because of Mr D. My older son excelled from the start. His instructors have been great with him as well. After having our son attend for the past 2.5 years, I decided it was time to update my rating of the school. We started my son a little before his second birthday. At the time we had to join him in the pool in the tots class. In retrospect, if we had better options we'd probably wait until he could attend classes on his own because the transition to classes on his own was difficult, however, the teachers and instructors were more than patient. Fast forward 2.5 years, with regular once a week attendance with the occasional missed weeks due to "life", my now 4.5 year old loves swimming, not necessarily swim classes, but water and the pool in general. He's soo comfortable in the water and well advance among our friend's kids, some who are even older than him. I feel confident that if he fell in the water, he'd be able to swim to the edge and crawl out. Even in the past month I've seen a drastic improvement in his swimming, covering the entire length of the pool. Considering it's only once a week for 30 minutes, progress will only come with time and perseverance. There were times when he wanted to quit, not because he didn't like swimming but because he moved up a class and it became difficult for him. Well, we treated swimming like a necessary life skill like going to school, and eventually he overcame his struggles. Overall it's been a journey but the payoff has been well worth it, and Goldfish has had a huge role in that. read more

I love love love Goldfish! My kiddo is timid in the water, but was straight up scared when we first started. We had done lessons someplace else, and he got nothing out of it because, for several different reasons, he didn't feel safe or engaged in the lesson. He'd cry the whole time for me and it was just such a waste. Then I tried Goldfish. I was immediately overcome with how PREPARED they were for a kid with water fears. He had a wristband to identify him as a first timer, and when he clung to me two extra people immediately showed up-- one to extract him from me and coax him to sit by the water's edge and one to slide into the pool to take over the lesson since he obviously needed more attention. The instructor helped him feel safe by offering choices and asking him questions to learn about him and, over the next several weeks she actually made him look forward to swim lessons, where he started feeling comfortable in the water, laughing and joking with her. That particular instructor doesn't work there currently, but we loved her so much we use her as a babysitter now. All of the instructors and lifeguards are extremely caring and always engaged in their work with the kids. Over the past several months, my kid has become more and more comfortable in the water. He has even started venturing out in the ocean a bit! I travel to Mt Laurel from Philly and I've recommended Goldfish to so many people that I have several friends who now go there as well. The facility is clean and inviting, I love the perpetual lessons (not having to wait for sessions to start, you just have a time slot all year until you stop it), and it's overall a very well-run operation. But above all, my kid feels safe and happy and is now able to start learning important safety and swim skills-- that is priceless to me. I love Goldfish. read more

Then renewed to utilize those sessions but my son still wasn't comfortable. They did nothing to help my son. We went on a trip to Disney and after seeing how much our daughter loved the pool we knew we had to find a pool at home. Lucky for me Goldfish was found and we've been going weekly ever since. Our daughter is only 15 months, but it's great to see her interact with her classmates (fantastic small classes) and learn the different skills. A half hour flys by, but it's just the right amount of time. By the end of class we are both ready for a nap . I highly recommend Goldfish any parent that would like their child to be comfortable in the water. read more

Phenomenal swim school. The classes are the perfect size and your little one will get proper attention the entire time. My children went from struggling to tread water to being little fish that can swim all over the place. The coaches are great and give tips on what they child needs to work on and what they are good at. They are very encouraging and give good instructions. Their price is reasonable (or cheaper) than most places in the area and they are great with working with families who have flexible (and sometimes changing) schedules. My daughter loves it there so much she is having her birthday party their next month. Definitely something you should check out if you are looking at a place to have your little ones learn to swim. Not a happy customer. After doing as much research as I could, I recently signed up my two girls (4 and 6) for swim lessons here. The facilities appeared clean and the prices are reasonable. Unfortunately, however, the instruction as well management leaves A LOT to be desired. During our first lesson, the instructor teaching our four-year-old essentially held her for most of the lesson as she watched my wife and I frequently through the glass. Not only did we find it lacking in instruction, but it was just incredibly awkward. After the lesson, I called and was told that they would change the instructor for the next lesson (which they did). The lesson after that, however, was with the original instructor who repeated the exact same behavior. When I questioned management, I was told that despite what I was told over the phone, we can't get a different instructor without changing the time/day (which the manager repeated over and over again like a machine). Also, we were told that a lot of people like this instructor. How about instead telling us what is SUPPOSED to occur in the lesson and how they will ensure that the instructor is coached, that someone will personally watch and observe or something like that. Instead, we were treated like a couple of credit cards they've locked into a contract (which is another story of misinformation as well as lack of information provided verbally during the sign up process). The manager offered to change the day/time with a different instructor, but the only two alternatives offered are during work hours (which is why we originally scheduled for Saturdays). Eventually, we were told that they could add an instructor to my four-year-old's lesson. I started thinking, great, but then when I asked HOW they envisioned that helping I didn't get anything reassuring. All I got was another machine-like response about how the primary instructor would be the same since it's her slot yadi-yadi. That's fine, but tell me that the other instructor will try a different style or something. Our experience has been that this place is about explaining why they are right, trying to lock us into a contract and not about actually giving us a good customer experience. We cancelled our contract as of the end of April and will not be coming back here. read more

My first impression is that this school appears to geared towards kids under 4 years old. They take the pool and make the swim lanes out of the short width of the pool, so you're operating with a much shorter length than a typical pool. The short lane is then cut in half by an underwater stand/raft device. So I took my 8 year old grandson and he had about 20 feet to swim before he had to stop and turn around. The other issue is that the kids must take turns in a group lesson of 25 minutes, which means each child is sitting at the side while the other gets to swim. Total actual swim time for a child is probably about 10-12 minutes per session with 2 kids. My minimal expectation was that my grandson would actually be in the water for 30 minutes. Not really worth the driving time and $$ cost in my view. read more

My kids and I are very pleased with her teaching. Overall, the class sizes are great. The facility is very clean. The staff at the sign in desk is very helpful and friendly. BEWARE!! THEY SCAM YOU! yes my child can swim HOWEVER..... they kept charging me $86 for the last few months, I didnt realize it and now they wont refund me. I called and told them my child will not be coming, they said "oh ok, I'll email you a form and sign it and bring it back at YOUR CONVIENCE. so I went in and signed the form. the girl with the lashes explained me to that i had a months worth of visits that I had already paid for that my child could come and use them before the end of the month which is great. Now I notice that I am charged ANOTHER $86. they claim they miscommunicated the discharge policy and because i signed that damn form they wont refund me ANY of my money. now, I work for a business, as do all of you reading this, and they should have refunded me because they are the ones that claim miscommunication. she claims that she saw that my daughter wasnt in class but because "they held the spot" (even tho I called and made them aware she wasnt coming) they still charged me. Now I have 10 sessions I dont want! just watch out. this place is run by all very young kids. so watch out! read more

The facility is clean, organized and well run, but Mr Ryan, my daughter's instructor, is the top reason we love this school. She HATES getting her ears wet and her hair wet, but for Mr Ryan (who makes her smile from the moment she sees him) she is willing to dunk her head underwater. That's a BIG DEAL. "We spent probably $2,000 on swim lessons at the YMCA and things never clicked. Between cold water, chaos with so many other things going on, inconsistent lessons/teachers my son never learned to swim. Due to lack of choices and thinking maybe my son just wasn't cooperation and eventually would get it, we kept going. We finally quit when I became pregnant with my daughter and couldn't deal with sitting in the pool area and roasting in the heat. In the short time we have attended Goldfish, my son has made more progress than his whole time time at the YMCA. Goldfish has been a serious game changer for us. My son used to whine about lessons at the Y but now his goal at Goldfish is to make the swim team. We love Goldfish and the set up of changing rooms makes things much easier as I have a boy and a girl and everyone can change easily and not worry about sending one in the opposite dressing room and then taking forever, needing help etc. Also the 90 degree water is great!! we love Goldfish!" read more

They were totally accommodating between little things and large. The place is clean and totally private for your party. They even have a hairdryer station.
