Another year and I'm still going strong with AFC Fitness. I come for the group fitness/yoga classes…read moreand truly feel that they are some of the best around. Some of these instructors are far better than at most gyms. Barre Fusion with Sevon gets me revved with amazing music, challenging strength not with heavy weights but with body and/or light weights and plenty of reps, alternating with fun and relatively easy dance/aerobic moves. If you can grapevine, you can handle it. And there is zero judgement or ego here. Everyone is just doing their best at their level. While the Studio A floor is newly updated (yay!), I would love if they added a real barre in one of the studios. We use chairs but it would make a difference to the movements. Sevon still keeps Barre Fusion amazing. She is conscious of body alignment and form, with safe, smart Pilates and dance moves. Noah's Hatha and Gentle Yoga classes are doable and challenging for all levels. He has so many years of experience in yoga, breath work and alignment that makes his classes the safest and wisest ones. He cues poses by discrete anatomical descriptions. For those who are paying attention, this is the difference between passive or mindless poses and active, thoughtful postures and a decent amount of effort. It's called architectural movement for a reason. I have left many a Gentle Yoga class feeling sore and/or sweaty! You don't need to be flexible do yoga, you just need to be open to learning. Marc's Gentle Yoga classes are also extremely safe, can be modified, and light and fun. His sense of humor reminds us that life doesn't have to always be so serious, and he always keeps the vibe focused and positive. The cleaning crew in the women's locker room are kind, diligent and deserve a huge shout out because they work so hard. Jivali studio could really use some TLC in terms of ventilation and humidity control. Perhaps even some fans when it is really warm. I still wish AFC could spend some time updating the equipment in Jivali - more thick blocks (most yoga students seem to benefit from these than the smaller ones but there aren't enough for a class of 16), cleaner and new yoga blankets, yoga straps for all. Bolsters would be amazing. It's evident that students don't wipe down or spray the equipment after use, which given the atmosphere of Jivali, seems useful. All told, AFC Fitness is still a great place for classes. The front desk staff are always so friendly. Melissa has a smile on her face every time I see her! The community feel of this gym is still very palpable. It's a bright part of my world. The free 30 day trial is worth your time.

Johns yoga class is the absolute best! My first yoga class with John, and subsequent classes…read morebrought tears. The class was/is such a healing source for me. I started out taking Johns Tuesday and Thursday class offered at 11:30 am. After 4 weeks I felt the difference in the way my body moved, it was more flexible and there is a calmness that I now experience. Johns choice of music, his readings and yoga practices has made a tremendous positive difference in my life. Johns' yoga class is the best, I recommend this class to family and friends. The big "pro" here is convenience: there are a lot of lesson times, classes start and end promptly,…read moreand misses lessons can be made-up (with advanced notice). However, I don't recommend this swim school because in months of lessons my seven year old has made no progress in learning to swim. She still won't even put her face in the water. I am aware that there may be a range of abilities among kids, but it's reasonable to expect some progress. And, if my kid were having particular issues preventing her from learning, someone at the school should have talked to me about it, which has not happened.

Overall as far as lessons go they're ok. This is my daughters i believe fourth class & so far she's…read morestill being taught how to close her eyes & hold her nose underwater..... she's having fun so that's cool. What I completely disagree with is how they charged me for one class 3/30 +the membership fee $27 (totaling $49.75) THEN charged my account the monthly fee of $100 beginning 4/1. The monthly & membership fee is understandable (other than the fact they never tell you how much the membership fee actually is in the policy). It's the charging me for ONE class on 3/30 that actually was canceled on their behalf & was rescheduled for 4/1. Why would am i being charged for a class i didn't attend? Why doesn't the policy state that you'll be charged/ billed separately for the first class attended of X amount of dollars regardless if it was actually the first of the month + billed monthly the same day/week? I never actually even got to attend the classes 3/30???

if I could give 0 stars I would. if recently moved to Pennsylvania and i have a autistic child that…read moreis nonverbal and he don't understand the meaning of wait or sit down or any little command specially coming from a stranger. first let me start by saying that my son loves water and as a mother i though this school would be the best for him because ever since i spoke on the phone with them i told them my child is on the spectrum that's ok, she told me yes that's totally okay we have special people for kids like him ,i said great so we schedule a free try out for Thursday at 4 pm. today Thursday I arrived a hour early so that i can see the place and talk to them about pricing, well i felt great with the place and everyone looked friendly before i went for my son at school i explain to them how inpatient he was and how he is and she still said don't worry.so with all my confidence i got my son and like around 3:40 i head in with him changed him into his swim suit and told him he was going in the pool .to make the story short the time for him to go in the water come and i told the instructor hi he is nonverbal she said okay and then tells the life guard he is nonverbal i guess it was for him to be more aware of him. everything was fine until the instructor was asking him to sit on the bench because the pool was too deep for him to be standing, he won't sit i told her she said i need him to sit so i could also show the other boy that was there with her. We were having a hard time sitting him down and then the manager KAITLIN G comes and said to me and my son " you need to sit Hun if not you won't get a class, i turned and told her i explained how he was, and you know. she said i know but he need to seat or he can't take the class. I I'm already unconfutable in front of all this people and my son is crying because I'm trying to get him out the pool i pulled him to seat for a few second and i hear the manager on the back saying maybe that shows him he have to seat and said to him in a firm tone seat! i grabbed my son and walked out of there in tears said absolutely nothing to them. how do you welcome a child in the spectrum if you not even train well to deal with kids like this i don't recommend this place to any mom out there with a child in the spectrum my son will remember this day for ever.

My son recently started going here for private lessons just as they opened. The facilities are…read morebrand new and the pool is a heated salt water pool which is great for the little ones as it is less hard on the skin. His instructor is Stephanie and she is amazing. She has the perfect personality for our son and we couldn't have picked a better teacher. The only negative to this place is strip mall it is located in as it is pretty run down, but on the bright side there is plenty of parking and there is a Dunkin Donuts in the parking lot. As for cost it is a little on the expensive side for private lessons and is more than what we payed in NYC, but it is worth the extra cost to make sure he is safe in the water. I would definitely recommend sending your child here for swim lessons based on my experience.
