I…read morerecently found old videos of my daughter's swimming lessons with aqua tots, and watching them again was heartbreaking. She was only 4, new to swimming, scared, crying, and clearly looking for her safe place -- her parents. Seeing staff block her from leaving the pool area while she was afraid was hard to watch as a parent. I remember talking to a "Karen" that worked there, "oh thats just how it is she will get use to it" same person that did not greet us when we stood at the counter waiting. Vibe was already off and I didn't notice my instincts. I don't believe this reflects every experience or everyone there, and maybe it was just that day or the staff we had. But for us, it was unforgettable. Looking back, I wish I had trusted my instincts sooner and spoken up more. Thankfully, after finding another swim school, she learned to love swimming and moved forward. Still, watching that footage today reminded me how important it is for parents to trust what they feel and advocate for their child.

I was very hesitant to try again with our 4 year old that didn't have any interest in learning to swim, was timid of the water and refused to go beyond the first step in the pool. Coach B was recommended to us and I am so glad that I took a chance and signed up all 3 of my kids! He's gentle yet firm, builds trust while encouraging kids to push past their comfort zones, and strikes the perfect balance between patience and challenge. My 4-year-old cried on the first day, cried a little less on the second, and was still a bit whiny on the third. But even then, I could tell he trusted Coach B. By day four, he was walking into the pool with a smile, excited to swim! By the end of the 10 days, my once timid little guy was confidently swimming and genuinely excited to be in the water. My 6-year-old already knew the basics but lacked confidence and endurance. Coach B improved his stroke technique, kicking, and taught him to roll onto his back to rest before flipping over to continue swimming. Before the program, he would quickly resort to doggy paddling. By the end, he was confidently swimming the full length of the pool with proper technique. My 9-year-old was already comfortable swimming and floating on her back, so Coach B focused on refining her breathing, stroke mechanics, and overall efficiency. She finished the program noticeably stronger and more confident in the water. All three of our children finished these 10 days as stronger, more capable, and more confident swimmers. They enjoyed learning from Coach B! They respected and trusted him! As parents, that's exactly what we hoped for. My husband and I are already planning to sign them up again next year.

However noting that I did not choose to attempt to go back here my spouse did on her own. She brought our nephew back against my better advice and appearantly has had better and more accommodating overall experience with them this time around. Ill give them two extra stars for this. However this tells me either A. Our previous instructor was the issue originally or B. They improved because of our review for us specifically. In addition my spouse has brought our newphew's sibling this time and I was a bit shocked and surprised to see them only giving a $5 per month discount for siblings sign-ups. I would have expected a $50 or 25% discount for this. Lastly, I do wish they had some sort of guarantee for early swimmers such as...kids will learn to swim independently within 3 months of lessons. There is no guaranteed like that here so it may take 1 months 1 year or 3 years for said kids to learn to swim which is a bit concerning for how much that is charged. I do know a couple competitors offer guarantees like this. Regardless overall this review does mark an improvement from last review.

Lucia is now 15 months and we still show up every Saturday and honestly, that says everything. Coach Angie is patient, kind, and just gets it when it comes to working with babies in the water. She knows the curriculum inside and out, but more importantly, she knows how to make the experience fun and safe from the very first class. Lucia went from a baby who had never been in a pool to a little girl who LOVES the water and that's 100% because of Coach Angie. The moment Lucia spots her walking over she starts waving and kicking with excitement. That kind of connection doesn't just happen it's built by a coach who genuinely cares. I'll be honest we've had a couple of classes with other coaches who didn't quite meet the bar we'd come to expect. We gave Big Blue that feedback and they handled it really well. Super supportive, took it seriously, and corrected the situation. We appreciate that a lot. We came back, landed back with Coach Angie, and haven't looked back.
