Saying in Medfort we lucky found Goldilox which was a quick walk from where we were staying. We knew it would be busy so we ordered online. I went with Just the right breakfast sandwich which is their version of the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel which I of course had to upgrade with adding cream cheese too. I got it on the specialty bagel that day which I believe was Tomato Basil, with bacon, eggs, American Cheese, and added Chive Cream Cheese. We placed the order and walked over. once arrived our food was almost ready. They don't really have seating since the place is so small. For sure a grab and go place. Since we were heading to Salem we just ate at the bridge down the street as we waited for our Uber. The bagel was great and very fresh. They also made sure it had plenty of that Chive Cream Cheese which I believe they are making in house. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 was due to the bacon. There was very little of it on the sandwich and it was also that thin precooked microwave bacon. You gotta get something thicker especially when you are making breakfast sandwiches that size. Goldilox is pretty good but sadly, I still haven't come across anything that remotely approaches the NYC gold standard. Take a gander at my photo. See that tiny smidge of cream cheese in the eye of the bagel? That should be a giant honking globule, the kind you poke out with your finger and stuff in your mouth the first thing when you unwrap it. Boston, you are absolutely WEAK when it comes to bagels. There, I said it. That said, the bagel at Goldilox was solid, good amount of chew, though pretty doughy and a touch too sweet. The Ready to Lox bagel gives you tomato, onion, capers, lox, CC, bagel for around $10, which isn't bad. Best part of the bagel was the garden veggie cream cheese; I'm not a huge CC person but I'd eat that with a spoon on its own. They recommend pre-ordering which threw me off a little when I went there to order in person. Not to keep harping on the NYC comparisons but I do miss just walking inside a bagel place and picking out a bagel. The hours are Friday and weekend mornings only: I suppose they've figured out their most profitable times (and, hey, good on them for being able to work a reduced work week) but the hours are baffling for my own selfish reasons. Like, what if I want a bagel at 2pm on a Tuesday?? This just speaks to the total lack of competition for good bagels. Or it's a remnant from COVID times. Driving from Tufts early on a Saturday morning,I hear from the backseat, "We should get some bagels." Find one quickly, I said, just as we saw the yellow sign. Hooked a quick right, found parking on the street and inside we went to check it out. It had just opened so there was a great selection of flavors to choose from. We got a dozen and a scallion cream cheese and we were happy. I really enjoyed the pretzel bagel. The bagels are just the right size - not too big and not too small. Very good service. I am a fairly frequent visitor to Cambridge and, so far, Bagelsaurus is my favorite place for a bagel. Twice, we unsuccessfully tried buying bagels from Bagelsaurus earlier this month. The first time the person in front of me bought the last bagel(it was about 130p on a weekend). The second time, it was earlier in day, but still on the weekend. When we saw at least 30 people lined up outside the door, we decided to leave and come up with a Plan B for bagels. (Bagelsaurus should do what Disneyland does with its lines..''You have a 45 min wait from this point.'' They could also tell you the likelihood of being able to buy anything other than a plain bagel.) So, I searched Best Bagels in Yelp(of course) and Goldilox came up, along with some other places. We chose Goldilox because one of the reviewers said it had surpassed Bagelsaurus as their new favorite. Plus we thought it was a cute name! I had such high hopes, but it wasn't even close. It looked like there were about 7 regular flavors of bagels I saw on the board. One was rosemary, which sounded yummy but it was sold out. I ordered the sesame. It did have seeds on top and bottom, which I like. My problem was that they were sooo skimpy with the scallion cream cheese! If the line hadn't been so long I would have gone to counter and asked for more! A normal amount of schmear would have salvaged the visit. This next comment didn't have anything to do with the establishment and wasn't counted in my rating but there was a very irritating experience I want to share. With the limited seating, I had my eye on a small open table so we could sit down while we ate. I didn't grab it because there were several people ahead of us in line and, in fairness, they should have first dibs at the table. Then, when we were next in line, this guy about 5 positions behind us put his stuff on the table! On what planet is that okay? He was even by himself and was there to read. I'm sorry but when it's that crowded, eat and get out so someone else can sit down. Just a selfish guy. I might give this place one more chance to try the rosemary bagel but I'd go earlier and during the week. And I would not give them a pass on skimping on the schmear! read more

First visit to the new Goldilox Bagels (a few weeks in) was a pretty good one. The bagels are similar to Bagelsaurus in that they're much less dense than classic, and there's a little sweetness sneaking in, but still very enjoyable. Of the three varieties tried, I enjoyed the rosemary salt best (lots of flavor and not crazy salty like some). The onion bagels were still very warm. Bagels are toasted unless you request otherwise. There's street parking only, long lines on weekends, and limited seating, but the friendly staff, fast moving line, and the mostly-takeout mentality makes it easy to have a meal onsite. read more

STAY GOLDILOX This command displayed on one of their walls is my new life motto. Don't let the line outside deter you! You will wait. And it will be worth it. We came on a chilly Saturday morning around 10 AM and only stood outside for about 10 minutes before we could enter (and continue waiting). The line moves fast though! They've really perfected their system, as it probably took only about 5 minutes to get our food after ordering. We started with 2 masala chais (yay for an oat milk option!) and a chocolate chip cookie (love the flaky salt on top and notes of ginger. at only $1... why would you NOT get one?). Then our bagels were up! We got The Just Right breakfast sandwich with sausage on an onion bagel. As the name proclaims, this sandwich is satisfying and make you feel like you're ready to take on the day. The onion bagel was a great complement to the flavors without overpowering. The toasted rosemary salt bagel with jalapeño cream cheese was absolute heaven. The bagel was flavorful, and the texture was perfectly chewy. The generous serving of cream cheese had diced, fresh jalapeños and wasn't overly spicy. I believe that all bagels are gems, but the ones at Goldilox are diamonds.
