We love this gym!! It is our home away from home. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is every machine and free weight available. The classroom is large and there are opportunities to dance when there is no class being held. We also love the "blue room," another distinguishing feature of the gym. It's a shame that the owner/management has let this gym go down hill so much over the years. I have been at this gym for 12 years, and made the decision to switch gyms. The staff looks like they hate their lives when walking in, the hours are constantly changing and they do not open on time. When they changed the hours it was because "they couldn't find anyone to work that shift" the manager then proceeded to say "she doesn't want to work that shift so she changed the hours." The flooring in the classroom area is horrible and for sure a safety issue. The private room which has holes in the walls. The machines are Alway broken. The cleaning staff does not clean. Mirrors and floors are always dirty along with the locker rooms showers. The hot tub/ sauna is always broken. The treadmills have tears in the matt's and two out of there six stair climbers don't work! The list with this gym can go on and on. For a membership that's pricey you expect better. Most definitely do NOT recommend this gym! read more

This is a franchise Gold's Gym, this locally owned. Building is also not owned by Gold's. Older facilities need upkeep and updating. Pool room needs repairs and cleaning. Many items in women's locker room broken( steam room, one shower, faucet handles, etc. ). Cleaning is sketchy, needs deep cleaning. Repairs to group exercise room Wood floor has never been completed since flooding in May. Whole sections warped and unsafe. Pool stairs unsafe, old , cracked Plastic. Places of ancient carpeting filthy and need replacing. Old or broken machines and bikes standing in entry areas. Gold's has great offerings for classes, swim team, lessons, Silver Sneakers program,but suffers from owner/management neglect and lack of maintenance. It's a shame that a place that offers so much is so neglected. Lots of nice members , active programs and instructors not supported by owners or managers. I've been member for years and use the programs and pool. The water is ok and warm, good for classes. Good size and depth for laps, exercise and classes. But, pool room is aged and needing renovation. Tile flooring is dirty and moldy in traffic areas, store room floor usually has water on it, lots of rust. Heaters and vents are old and seldom work properly, thus ventilation and condensation ( contributing to mold and rust) are prevalent. I must add that the program offerings are good; classes and members are active; instructors are good. But facility does not support these. read more

The people at this gym don't seem to care about customer service at all. There are many gyms in Amarillo to choose from. We were loyal customers for decades, even before the gym was re-named "Gold's," but now we are going to switch to Verdure. Several individuals have begged staff to turn down the booming music so we could listen to our own spotify or other music on headphones, but management and staff ignore the requests. We aren't asking to turn the music off, just not have it so loud. Two of our acquaintances have migraines, and going to Gold's on Blackburn in Amarillo has made it impossible for them to continue to use this gym. The equipment is very outdated compared to most gyms in town. Treadmills especially. Multiple without fans and the ones that do have fans the tread is worn in the middle making it very difficult to even walk in the middle. Only switched to this gym because of Bomb City Bungee (which I love). I'm very disappointed in leaving my previous gym for what I thought would be comparable with what I'd expect from a National chain. The sign out front has a letter missing. I have been a Silver Sneakers member for several years. I go for the pool classes. Am tired of the water being too cool. Door to gym shattered over a week ago and has not been repaired. Heater in pool room doesn't work. There is information about getting new equipment, but when the pool was "re-done," some paint and a few tiles replaced. The beams were quite rusted, as is to be expected, but instead of grinding down the rust, it was painted over! The "noodles" desperately need to be replaced. If there was another indoor pool that takes Silver Sneakers in town, I would switch. read more

Older gym. Good location. Large gym with a lot of equipment. Racquetball courts, small pool, steam rooms, saunas and plenty of group fitness classes. The equipment does not seem to be maintained well. A lot of dated machines needing tlc. They have free motion treadmills, precor eliptical, cybex cross trainers , and bikes. The best Gol'd gym I've ever been to. I'm a member of the 24 hr fitness chain and was not able to find one of its locations in Amarillo. So, I decided to try the Guest pass at this Gold's gym. Based on my previous experiences, I was under the impression that my pass wouldn't work and I was ready to pay the member fees per day. I was politely greeted and serviced by the staff at the front desk. Without much hassle, they processed and in a minute or two I was entering the gym. Their free weights' collection is so huge! Many staff member are incredibly rude to patrons. This is astonishing since we are paying for them to have jobs. The trainers are great. It's the people at the front counter and even one of the owners. We have paid all through COVID despite not being able to use the gym. Surely, this should be worth something. This place is always packed everytime I come here. Doesn't matter what time of day it is, there is high traffic all the time. The crowd is mostly meatheads when I go in and all the women are usually in the cardio area. The one thing I like about this place is the many racquet ball rooms they have here. They have at least 5 rooms and it's okay if you don't go up there with a partner, there is always someone there looking to play. They also have a separate room just for women to workout in. One thing that keeps me coming back to this gym is the atmosphere. Everytime I come, I see everyone focused and working out hard. Keeps me motivated when I work out beginning to end. read more

Love this gym! It's got everything for someone who is serious about training.. Sadly it does have those few riffraff who are phone yapping and wasting other people's time yapping and taking up equipment, but overall the facility is large, clean, and spacious. Golds gym, there's alot horrible things I'd love to say about the gym branch, but to save time I'll be brief. I joined the gym 3 months ago, only used it once and went to my location to cancel my membership. The eager woman at the desk told me it was taken care of and I had nothing to worry about. Months later I received calls from lawyers telling me I owed the gym for my account that I never cleared. After several hours of talking to manager after manager, telling here I canceled my membership, I was told they would generously wave my balance down to $ 116.97. As if they were doing me a favour. I payed the 116 but I was only left with two things; my skinny unfit body and a bitter taste left in my mouth from the Judas Iscariot of all gyms. Don't go to golds read more

My favorite part about this location is the group classes offered, they have a wide range of times... Most of the staff is very friendly. My only cons are that I wish the woman's area was bigger,and I wish they opened earlier on Sunday's. The machines could use some updating, but the gym has been going through a face lift of sorts, so I understand it's a work in progress. Where to start. I will end on a positive. Locker room facilities: smell chemically clean but are far from it. Shower and sinks do not drain. Okay if you don't mind showering in the next stall run off water (gross). Entire pool surroundings are filthy. Crack tiles, missing grout, mold. Depressing. Workout floor: new treadmills without audio hookup (promised for months), several on north side digital screens rarely work. Bluetooth (offered) to TVs is spotty. MANY of the foam rod covers on machines are completely worn out with endless promises of replacing. No apparent equipment maintenance. Main floor areas are completely disjointed. Missing common area for various stretching and self ball routines/stretching. The "Woman's" room (after thought) is poorly organized and hardly fits more than 4 people without bumping into each other. POSITIVE: good group classes. Employees are friendly and helpful when around. Good location and sound tracks. I hope there is some sign of management leadership by end of year. It could be so much more. read more

I have got one of the best trainers in the panhandle !! Whoot whoot! i have been a member of Golds gym for the past 7 years and have had my share of personal trainers that have been good but none like Kelly Bauer! He is extremly knowledgable when it comes to the body, proper fitness and how to get you the best results for your individual needs (no cookie cutter workouts!) i have had a few injuries and have seen different chiropractors but none have been able to fix the problem. But Kelly worked wonders on me ! How you ask?! ..you will have to see him for yourself! Lower back,knee,hip and shoulder injuries gone!Most of all he tought me proper motion for my entire body and thus preventing injury...and super great results!!! Worst gym facility I've ever been to. Upon signing up there was no mention about a enhancement fee. And Gold's gym decided to take $97 out of my bank account within a 10 day timeframe. Before the enhancement fee was taken out I asked to cancel my membership. Because again I was not informed of there being an enhancement fee a fee that absolutely serves no purpose it's just an additional $47 that golds just wants to take from you. The office manager Betty lied to me and told me I had to have a 30 day written notice when canceling my subscription. And made it to where I had to wait over the weekend just long enough for the membership fee and the enhancement fee to go through my account. She knew exactly what she was doing and she did it anyway for a business management. Poor professionalism. And couldn't take it whenever I told her she was not answering my questions and I needed to speak to someone else. She got hostile was beating around the bush and not answering my questions. I spoke with the owner of the restaurant and instead of being professional and trying to assert the situation as needed she tried to place all blame on my behalf which is totally unprofessional in every single way she should not own a business. Unless you have money to just throw away do not go to Gold's gym unless you have money to just throw away do not go to Gold's gym. They charge you $50 a month to use their unclean facility that hasn't been sanitized and God knows how long the carpets in the locker room have not been vacuumed and God knows how long bathrooms have been cleaned the hot tub is literally never clean there's always scum and soap residue all over it the sauna has had the same trash in it for about four months timeframe and none of the gym equipment has ever been wiped down to my knowledge. I know it's left to the customers to wipe it down but that obviously doesn't get done so when a member of staff just sits on their ass and plays on their phone their entire shift when they could be making use of their time yeah I have an issue with that. I would give this place a no stars if I could please do yourself a favor and don't come here. Oh also they're actually having to close down their other location due to how bad their business has been so let that reflect on how crappy this establishment is . read more

The Gym needs to be updated badly. Locker room in mens pool is inadequate and very small with only one shower. Cracks in tiles and dirty windows. Its old and it shows. They have updated nothing for years. Not the cleanest gym I've ever been to but its adequate. Just old I guess. They decided lately to do some updating and have gone up on their price for monthly membership dues. However, they failed to mention this to a large portion of their membership. They overcharged me a few times on monthly dues and its a hassle to have to go into the office and get everything straightened out. I finally just decided to join Zachs club and the place is immaculate. Also zachs has a day care room for the kiddies which Gold's gym does not have. I think Golds enjoys some success because its the only full service gym on that part of town ... but really there are better options with the town club and zachs if you don't mind a bit of a drive. Has gone far from been a nice place to work out, used to be very nice gym, not anymore. Music is so loud from 7pm-10pm that it's very annoying, after asking the staff to please turn it down a little bit, some of them say that they don't have control of it, but it seems that they turn it up every time instead of down, and by the way music selection playlist is bad and bad/cursing words all the time. Have even asked the management to take care of it but nothing has changed. Restrooms are never cleaned. They don't have towels anymore, so if u wanna use the sauna/steam room or pool u have to take your own towel. read more

I am a Racquetball player and play in tournaments around the U.S. This facility has some great racquetball courts which are well maintained and the staff always makes me feel welcomed. I participate in several Tournaments they have each year. Their tournaments are the ones I look foward to play in every year. read more

This is probably the worst gym in the developed world. The owners couldn't care less about the customer experience, and it shows. For example, the machines all have problems with audio. Some of the treadmills backtrack and are actually quite dangerous. All the equipment is old and run down. The changing rooms are beyond filthy. If your idea of relaxing in a hot tub involves soaking in brown filth with days worth of buildup, this is the gym for you. The carpeting throughout the gym adds to this dingy decor. The roof of the pool is literally falling apart. One time, a stray cat entered the pool area, but I don't blame the poor thing, it was probably hunting for rats. There is always an undeniable stench in the air, especially in the changing rooms. It's kind of like a mix between dirty socks and food gone bad (damp style). Good luck finding great customer service too. The personal trainers will schedule appointments and repeatedly forget to show up. For the same price you could go to a better club in town. Don't waste your time, unless of course you enjoy walking on clipped toenails and risking your health. read more
