This is my gym because this is the gym that I go to, so I can gym. It's like many other gyms, but this is my gym. This gym probably deserved a 3 star, but again it's my gym. They did redo the pool, hot tub, and sauna area about a year ago. When that wasn't available it wasn't as gymmy as I would like a gym to be, but now it feels more gymmy. Equipment is pretty decent. I get a better workout than PF and different variations especially for leg workouts. The free weights are also a big plus. open the boxing ring for those who know what they are doing to come in and train. I signed up my son for a 6-month training package at this gym. After my contract ended, they charged my card again without my permission, claiming it was due to an automatic renewal. I was never given proper notice of any renewal, and when I asked for a refund, they refused. North Carolina law requires gyms to give clear cancellation instructions and written notice 15-45 days before renewal -- I received none. Instead, I was told that because I initialed some fine print, they could keep charging me. This is a fraudulent and deceptive billing practice. I've since had to dispute the charge with my credit card company and am filing a complaint with the NC Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division and will also be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Prices increased, money missing, bo customers service and now that they claim I owe and have been sent to Collections where some jerk got an attitude with me, I told Apex Collections to Shove it. This gym has the worst foul smell, every other machine is dirty or hast been cleaned in like weeks, also I don't recommend using the pool, that thing is dirtier than warthog pig coming from a mud bath, also the sauna doesn't work and the infrared sauna smells like sweat of a gorilla who did steroids and ate a bunch of junk food. read more

Obviously all gyms are currently closed due to COVID-19. However, here's my pre-COVID review. I look forward to hopefully getting back into my gym routine here soon... I have been to all three Triad Golds Gym locations and I feel this one is the best. The gym is very well maintained, with lots of new exercise machines. At the other locations often elliptical, bikes, treadmills, etc were out of order. Also, this location feels more chill and is not filled with only the hardcore workout enthusiast. They have a great group exercise schedule. I have really enjoyed their Zumba and Body Combat classes and have other classes I'd like the try. I don't use the weights area much, but it looks like it has something for everyone who is into that. Golds gym also has a lot of extra perks compared to other gyms in the area. There is a pool for swimming laps, hot tub, steam room and sauna. They also offer free child care while you work out for those that need it. There's also a woman's only workout area, which I don't use but appreciate they want to make sure everyone is comfortable. Staff is very nice and helpful if needed. While there is always a flow of people, especially at peak times like after work day, it's never overly crowded. Sometimes you may have to wait for a particular machine (they need more than 4 step steppers) there's always something similar enough to use in the mean time. Most of us don't love going to the gym, but I have been very happy overall as a Golds gym member, and have pretty much made his location my to-go now. read more

Golds gym at Brassfield in Greensboro is the worse and nasty place to do your workout, this place needs a city inspector to supervise this disgusting place. Let's start with the cleanliness of this. Air conditioning pipes are full of dust coats over coats; something accumulating by years Nobody cares even the "General Manager" is a joke. I spoke with her and she tried to be concerned about this matter. DUST in great proportion is flying making the environment hard to breath; very dangerous for people who have allergies, is a trigger to make your allergies worse. Like l said I spoke with the "General Manager" in several occasions but she sounds that she don't care I'm geting sicker with this happening in this gym. My allergies are getting worse and this is the main reason I am doing this review. read more

I was a member here for over a year and came back this week to renew my membership after a few months out of town. They are under new ownership that has significantly raised the prices for no apparent reason other than greed. A year of membership at this gym used to cost me $360, and now it would cost $680. I was originally paying $30/month, but they have increased the monthly price significantly and added hundreds of dollars of fees. There is no difference at the gym other than several cardio machines being removed, two new gimmicky machines, and repainted walls. The pool is still closed as it has been since COVID. This gym has become a complete joke. Go across the street to Strive and pay hundreds less for a most likely better gym experience. read more

Over the last few years the gym has gone through a few changes from The Rush to a larger corporate feeling gym to now a gym listening to its customers adding a few nice features most places can't add. Sledgehammers to hit tires, multiple boxing bags in different areas, and the push sleds are a few examples. The current managers are ones who started as "lower on the totem pole" and have grown with the gym and seem to know what it's strengths can be. Former GMs seem to be just business people who have no idea what makes a gym a place you actually want to go. We do miss kids club, the sauna, and the steam room which truly made the gym exceptional. Hopefully they can find a way to get some of these amenities back. The staff is eager to listen to praise or criticism and remembers their guests. Front desk staff are always greeting with epic bright faces and energy to start your exercise. A special mention to McKenzie Pell. There is a special attitude, understanding, and brightness built into her soul. Seemingly natural in naturing and nuturing she's the shining example of a human being you want within your organization, ANY organization. The care and genuine concern she exudes for her customers and her job is likened to an award winning rose gardener giving her prize flora the precise water and attention to thrive. I signed up on the July 25th... Fortunately for GOLD'S GYM.... I was charged $16 for 10 days.... Then on then August 13th charged $30... Went to cancel membership to switch to planet fitness August 22nd ... THEN... I was told that I would be ​charged September 13th .... 30 day notice policy. Basically... This has been my gym for about ~3 years. Honestly every gym has its flaws but this one is maybe the best one I've been to between here and Charlotte, NC. It's a 5 because they're taking COVID precautions- even witnessed one of the personal trainers ask members to put on their masks despite her not even being on duty. COVID precautions aren't fun and I'm suffocating on my sweat but it makes me happy seeing the employees doing their part to make sure the gym doesn't have to close!! read more

I've been a member here for a few years now without complaint. The staff has always been friendly and the gym is kept in decent shape. The reason for the mediocre review is solely due to being informed by the Burlington staff that my membership is no longer valid at their location due to being franchised. I signed up with Golds for the ability to visit locations in whatever area I'm in on a daily basis. I was a member of The Rush and then Gold's bought it. I renewed my membership for two more years. Big mistake- I am a class person. It was difficult to find traditional yoga classes in this gym. I went to what was listed on the schedule and was not always satisfied with the results. There were a couple of classes that worked, but then the instructor stopped coming (for different reasons). Instructors were often late or did not show at all. Anyway by the time my membership was up I did not renew. This was in April 2016. Maybe things have changed. Now a friend of my daughter that lives in another town is paying for a membership she can't use. When she started the membership, she was told she could cancel if it didn't work out. Well, they lied. For a while she wasn't working and no car. Even if she had the time, she couldn't get to a Gold's in either Greensboro or Charlotte (Charlotte is a little closer to her home). Now she is working, but has no time or transportation. The gym did not even give her a copy of the contract. This is all so wrong. Where is the compassion for a young woman barely making ends meet? An effective gym, open 24 hours from Monday morning 'til Saturday night, means that you won't ever have an excuse not to work out.* The first thing I noticed about this gym is that it's large; like, really large, especially compared to the miniature actual frontage this location manages. You wouldn't barely even notice it in a shopping center next to a Tuesday Morning, but there it is, with its expansive interior just waiting for you. When you enter, you walk past the front desk, where if you're a member they'll check you in and if you're a guest, like me, you'll pay $10 for the right to use the club for 24 hours. That means if you come in at 2 p.m. on a Tuesday, you can use the gym again Wednesday morning on the same entry fee. Either way, in both cases, they will hold your ID at the front so make sure and bring it with you. The locker rooms are off to the left while down the right side of the gym space are a plethora of treadmills. There's additional cardio equipment, but running is the focus. To the right of there is a small area to do individualized workouts with medicine balls or just stretching, but the floor is hard so make sure to get one of the mats to put down before you do so. For cardio equipment, they limit your active time to 30 minutes when you're there during rush hour, which are the times you'd expect: morning time and 4-7 p.m. so though the machine won't auto-limit you, expect to have to get off the machine after 30 minutes or get some ugly stares from your cohorts. The TVs on the back row of treadmills are not adjustable, meaning if they aren't the right height it can cause some neck strain but there are a row of hanging tvs that give you something to look at if you're not staring at your personal device. They have a ton of channels, though, so good on them for that. In the back right are the free weights, and it's a Gold's Gym, so you know with their weightlifting history this will be a pretty good set it up, and it is. I didn't like their lack of a second kettle ball at each weight (they only had one 15 pound, one 20, etc.) but they had a good selection of dumbells and such. The rest of the area is reserved for nautilus equipment, and in the four times I went during the day over the week I was home visiting my folks, I saw most of the same set of folks using the same set of machines. Which either means these people have the greatest set of deltoids and lats in history, or this is just a hangout place for people during the day. Staff? Well, the front desk folks were always helpful but I didn't interact with the trainers that much. In our small interaction, it was kind of awkward when I asked about the kettle balls and she responded asking if I wanted to put away my medicine ball. I didn't necessarily see the connection, but hey, what're you gonna do? The last thing that really bugged me, and I can't for the life figure out why they do this, is that they don't have towels. Not for wiping down equipment, not for drying off after you shower, not for anything. Which I thought was really weird -- shouldn't they have those as a default? Don't all gyms? Not a bad gym, and if I lived near here, I'd probably be a member. The facility is as good as any other place, but that is the only acceptable thing. The customer support representatives are not supportive or useful unless you plan on giving them more money. The equipment is pretty good except for the treadmills that have broken displays. I am giving one star due to the billing issues I feel are intentional. Rather then refund me for two months of over billing, they put two months worth of unusable credits on my account. I have talked to them about four or five times and they just give me one excuse after another. When you cancel, get a copy of the cancellation form and send it to your bank or credit card company as proof. You will need it! read more

During the shutdown, Gold's president sent out a letter saying that membership dues would be "frozen" until A. the member returned, or B. there was a complete lifting of all restrictions. I took them at their word. Then I found out they have been billing my account since September, 2020. All restrictions have not be lifted and as a healthcare worker, I cannot go to the gym. Would they refund my dues and annual fee? No, because this company does not keep its word. Wouldn't do business with them again if they were the only gym in town. read more

If you are a member of Gold's gym all classes are included in your membership (they have about 4 classes per day so it gives everyone an opportunity any given day). Also, I have worked with a personal trainer (3 sessions are included in the membership) and they teach you how to use the equipment and pointers on what to eat (like Eat this not that), etc. I really like this service and I am thinking about continuing to see a personal trainer just because it not only is motivation, but allows me to make my work outs more effective. I love that the gym is open 24-hours since I work long days. The other bonus is that there is a theater area where they have cardio equipment-so you not only get to watch some new releases, but you get to exercise while doing so... Oh, they also offer free children care. I do not have a child, but I can see that is a huge advantage to most families. read more

This was a nice gym after it switched from the Rush to Golds a few years ago. Since then it has steadily gone down hill and I am ready to cancel my membership. They have tried to update a few things... they FINALLY got new spin bikes. But overall... not much else has improved. Cleanliness is poor. Pretty sure there was a used tampon on the floor of the sauna for months. If you sit in the sauna, you will leave with dirt/sweat/grossness marks on your clothes. The gym as a whole feels like an incubator for germs. It takes a LONG time for broken equipment to get fixed. Because it is a cheaper option...despite being told when I signed up that they don't like weight slamming, meat head types... weights seems to be slamming everywhere. I think this gym has turned into the value option for local college kids. Nothing wrong with that... but it wasn't what I signed up for 3 years ago... so I will be looking somewhere else. I have been going to Golds Gum since It once "The Rush" I am a very dedicated member however there was a small incident where a young lady at the front desk named "Maryann" or something similar, was very blunt and rude with me when having issues with my account. I then spoke with her manager Kenneth Norris who by the way was super kind and helped me out a lot. She on the other hand was very rude and did not consider my history I have with Golds Gym to simply give me a temporary alternative solution until my acct was fixed. Instead she was rude and told me "You just won't be able to work out today." After speaking to her manager he assisted me and I did get to workout. read more

Look, I'm not one to blast businesses or bad mouth them but this place is quite bad....The locker rooms are absolutely disgusting. I was a member here for about a year and a half and I think every time I came in this gym which was 4 to 5 times a week there were trash on the floors, apparently nobody that works out here or works here knows how to put weights back on any of the racks or whip down the equipment when they're done using it. Their are empty water bottles laying around, used paper towels all over the floors and god knows what else was on the floor in the locker rooms. The staff that works here seems nonexistent helping putting weights away or keeping the place clean, but theysit at their desks on their phones or walk around having conversations with god knows who. Oh and not to mention, I went to cancel my membership in April at the beginning of the month and they charged me for the whole month of April telling me that that's policy, great customer service. This place has a lack of customer service, cleanliness and all around customer anything..the only thing I feel they pride themselves on is their 1/1 sessions in which they get paid for..I'll take my money and services elsewhere..this isn't the first Golds I have cancelled a membership at because of this shit, believe me..I be traveled for the last 20 years of my life and one thing I can tell you is these establishments are just as bad in other states and cities as well.
