I love this gym and I love the staff. Extremely friendly staff. However the gym does not have one sign to remind members to stop talking on the phones on the workout floor. This problem has gotten so bad and some members have no respect at all and the gym is allowing it. It's the top management and the owner responsibility to put an end to this garbage. Also the gym does not carry any of Golds nice workout clothings. The shelves are empty ???? While most members are very respectful to the gym rules there are the few that can care less by constantly being on the phone and many times on the speakers too screaming loudly . No other gym tolerates this. One good note is that the gym is always clean and theatrics in charge of cleaning does an amazing work. I am hoping the owner will do something about the phone issue soon. read more

GOLD'S GYM @ KIRKLAND Was a member here a couple times in the summer when I came back from school in California. Parking is available and it's private so you'll find an easy spot. Never crowded and most machines are always available. Bathrooms is pretty icky, definitely wish it was more renovated and nicer. They also had so much construction upstairs and downstairs and i'd find literal dust on some of the machines i'd go on. Hopefully it's done by now. Downside is that this gym does not provide a pool, sauna, or jacuzzi which is another reason why I moved to a new gym. This place could also definitely be a lot more bigger, treadmills, stair master, bicycle machines were all squished to the second floor. Overall, good location and facilities are at the minimum. read more

Love this gym! After working out in my garage for a while, I missed going to the gym and having that energy push my workouts. I went to check out the 24 hour fitness in Redmond, which is a lot closer to me. I was not impressed and although it was a farther drive, I went back to Gold's in Kirkland. The gym has been redone and is super clean and the energy was inspiring. If you are looking for a gym for weight training where people know gym etiquette, this is the place! Super friendly community and wonderful staff. There were a few pieces of equipment that I didn't know how to use and the guy at the front desk was super helpful. I also didn't know you had to grab your own spray bottle to wipe down equipment and after stealing somebody's unknowingly, one of the members shared how it worked and I really appreciated that. As promised, I'm updating my review. I did get an email back 5 days after emailing stating, "Your account has been set to cancel with nothing further due. You will have club access until February 25, 2025." This was the best case scenario result. The inability to cancel in person or by phone or online and having to wait to see if the 'cancel' email worked keeps my review from being five stars. Still feels like playing games with the customer: not even able to guarantee that I am canceled when I show up in person with the request. They take forever to answer and when they do they give me wrong information saying is cancel but when I go to the gym and check the receptionist tells me is not even on a pending cancellation. I tried to like this gym because it was so close to my home, but there is so much I have to sacrifice. First, on the weekends, they do not open until 8am which is late for people like me who normally get there at 6am on the weekdays. I sacrifice parts of my mornings because I need to wait for the gym to open. Second, the free weight benches aren't nailed down. Members can move it all over the gym and sometimes they leave the benches close to one another which is awkward if you're working out and someone sits next to you because they specifically need the incline bench. Not to mention, because they are not nailed down, they can move when you launch your body to push the weight up or if you're using leg drive. I sacrifice my time by placing 45lb plates behind the benches so they don't move. Not to mention, what if you're a tiny person who cannot move the benches away from a specific location? It would be much more organized if they were placed in one spot and stayed there. Third, barbells. Perhaps I am picky, but as a woman, a good chunk of the barbells are thick and require more work for me to deadlift. I have to hunt down a specific barbell everytime I deadlift, my sacrifice. Not to mention, some of the barbells are weird. I've been going to the gym for 8 years and was always used to barbells having knurlings for grip purposes. It's just dangerous when you're squatting heavy and there's not center knurling grabbing your skin or shirt. Forth, the rules. I see so many members lifting barefoot, talking on the phone, leaving gym bags on the floor, slamming weights, and not re-racking their weights, but I don't see them getting reprimanded for it. Today, I was told not to use chalk because it gets messy. I'm obviously not using chalk to be obnoxious. I need it for safety reasons. And I clean my chalk up afterwards. Does this gym not want me to make gains?! Fifth, membership cost. For $40/month, it doesn't come with appealing amenities. For $6.99/month more, I can go to 24 hour fitness for steamroom, sauna, basketball courts, and a more diverse set of classes. read more

Gold's gym is definitely my favorite in the area. It's very clean and staff is friendly. It's been renovated recently so most things are new. The only thing that needs improvement are the showers which seem pretty old. There are a lot of different machines, free weights and benches, so most of the time, i'm able to quickly go in to do my workout and get out. It can get very busy at certain times. read more

My Gold's Gym experience has been the worst gym experience I have ever encountered In my life. My wife and I got a gym membership in August of this year and the following month I was told I had to have major surgery. I tried to cancel my membership due to the fact that I was having surgery, but my wife was going to keep hers. I was told I could not cancel because I signed a one-year contract, I could put it on hold for a year if the surgeon wrote a letter, and after that, my one-year contract would start up again. I was then informed that the only way to cancel was if the letter stated I was premanently disability. Every person is different when it comes to recovery, so I guess regardless if whether i have recovered properly or not I have to start back paying for a membership I can't use. Oh yeah and I was charged and annual fee for for a membership that is on hold. If you are considering GOLD'S, go somewhere else or pay month to month if you can. A signed contract well get you. A friend's dramatic weight loss inspired me to check out Gold's Gym. He had participated in one of Gold's body transformation challenges and had much success with the results. Upon visiting, I toured the facility and had the sales manager ask about my goals. I had heard from other Gold's Gym members that the staff heavily sell personal training sessions, but I went in knowing that I already thought sessions would be beneficial to kick start my new workout routine. For the past month, I've trained with Robert. He's incredible at finding exercises that work for me and isolate certain muscle groups. The first time we met, we focused on chest and triceps, then back and biceps, and lastly legs and shoulders. He added in core exercise throughout those workouts. Robert keeps track of the exercises with a worksheet that explains the exercise, tempo, and weight per rep so that it's easy to refer back to the exercises. Another neat thing about Gold's Gym is that they offer body tests. The very first session I had with Robert, he weighed me and then did the pinch test to different parts of my body to measure the fat. A month later, we recently took the test again and were able to calculate that so far I've lost 4 pounds of fat and gained 2 pounds of muscle! The facility itself is just what you'd expect from a gym. There are many different types of machines and weights on the bottom level and cardio machines on the top with a studio for classes. There is a towel service, showers, and a locker room. It isn't anything fancy, but I think the value is great, as it's a super affordable gym. Staff members are really friendly and helpful when I have question (as a newbie, I always have so many questions). The parking lot can be totally full, but on the inside, the gym feels so spacious that it doesn't seem super busy. In addition to the friendly staff, the whole vibe of the gym is very chill. While there are very, very fit people at this gym, they don't appear to let it go to their head. People I've interacted with so far are very nice, and I don't feel intimidated. The downsides of this gym is that it can be pretty warm inside (especially upstairs on a hot day). Other than that, it's fantastic. I believe they have new member specials, so be sure to take advantage of them if you're considering joining. read more

I absolutely DO NOT recommend this Gym!!!!! The manager is rude! I haven't used the Gym for over two years, yet they have been charging me all this time. After they opened back up after covid, they told me I could not continue my membership at the previous amount. So I did not want to continue my membership. Yet they charged me anyway. Now I can't even cancel my membership until all this back pay is paid up. So the amount keeps racking up. And I haven't even using the membership!! A nightmare!!! AVOID THESE PEOPLE LIKE THE PLAGUE!! For the price, it's really, really hard to complain about anything at all. I pay $40/mo on a month-to-month basis. That's better than anywhere around. The gym has good, modern equipment with a big variety. There's plenty of space and you'll rarely have to wait for popular stations (e.g., bench press, mid-weight dumbbells). There's studio space and endless cardio choices too. And, it's really clean. For the people who feel slighted because the gym/GM doesn't want outsider personal trainers undercutting their in-house trainers, can you really blame them? It's their facility, their investment, and they need that business to stay afloat. The rent is not cheap on a space of that size and they don't gouge on entry fees, monthly, etc. If nobody paid for any of their services, there's the risk that gym may close. And then we all suffer. The members are easy going and the staff tries to be helpful and friendly. Golds is still the best overall weightlifters & bodybuilders gym in the area. The equipment is great & well kept. Craig the manger is awesome & so is his staff! There is definetly a sense of community & camaraderie there. Do they have a pool or hot tub? No they dont, but I have x5 of those at my apt complex. They do have Group classes though, personal trainers, & tons of cardio equipment, lockers & showers plus two state of the art full body massage chairs! Highly recommend this gym. read more

Signed up for a guest pass on their website to try out the gym before signing up for a membership. I was emailed a guest pass and received 2 follow up calls asking me when I can come in to try out the gym. I showed up the same day with my guest pass and they refused to let me try out the gym and told me the gym is only limited to members right now. If you ask me, it's very unprofessional and misleading to offer guest passes to potential members and then deny them when they show up. Don't offer guest passes if you're going to refuse people to try out your gym and waste their time. read more

There are still some of us long-timers left at the gym... I've been at this Gold's since mid-1996, several months after this gym moved to the current location from the Houghton location. (There are even several left who were members from Houghton still working out.) Yup, that makes it 23 yrs. ago. I joined this gym from when the former 24-Fitness at ParkPlace was known as Hart's Athletics Club. About 7-10 of us joined as "a family"... meaning we all got the family discount. As you might guess, none of us were actually related. I've seen all the ups and downs, from the heydays during the 1990's to fears of bankruptcy/closure around mid-2000's (when the air conditioner wasn't really turned on during summer months to save money, even during really hot days, and wouldn't allow us to open the back garage door even when we asked because we were all dying of heat) to changes in ownership, multiple changes in gym management and front desk. The front desk and gym management have always been great. Most members who work out here are good people and serious about working out... at their own pace. I like this gym because of the people I've gotten to know. We treat each other like family. If you're looking for a high-end gym feel, this gym isn't for you. This gym is basically no frills. BUT there are adequate machines and stations available for people to do their workouts effectively. Confession: When L.A. Fitness opened in downtown Bellevue way back when, I seriously thought about changing my memberships. Thought I'd like a brand new gym environment with a pool AND being closer to home. Ultimately, I decided against it BECAUSE I enjoyed my friends at Gold's. (I held dual memberships for 6 months, and during that time I went to L.A. Fitness only 3 times.) I've been working out at this location for 8 months and it has surpassed my expectations. I assumed Gold's would be filled with a bunch of dudes snorting and grunting, but it's actually a great mix of older, younger, male and female. The common denominator being most everyone there is pretty damn focused on challenging themselves and reaching whatever goals they've set for themselves. It's not a bunch of people trying to look hot in their new fitness gear. Rather people are grinding. As far as some of poor reviews I read; poor customer service, people hanging out on the machines messing with their phones etc I've experienced just the opposite. Had a question with my billing early on and Craig the manager there took care of the issue personally and it was resolved in minutes. I'm continually impressed how the staff learn members names and say hello. As far as people hogging machines looking at their phones - I rarely see that happen and I'm there 5-6 days a week. And in the occasion some is doing that, don't be a sissy about it, say some - ask them to get off the machine or ask if you can work in with them. It's not scary to do and what gym that isn't in your basement doesn't have those people at it? While the gym doesn't have super high-end amenities, it's Gold's Gym not the BELLEVUE Sports Club and it's a thousand times less expensive. If you can't get in kick ass shape at Gold's it's because you don't want to, not because they don't have a sauna. I moved to Kirkland a couple years ago from Las Vegas - where they had awesome local gyms. I had a lot of trouble finding a gym I liked in this area since moving here. Recently, a friend recommended Gold's to me and I fell in love with it immediately. I was a "collector" of gym memberships in the area, I belonged to most of the main ones, but I'm actually in the process of canceling all my other memberships and just sticking with Gold's. From the friendly staff, to the equipment, to the daycare, I am happy through and through. Of all the gyms I've belonged to in the area, this feels the most like a serious gym with serious equipment. I disliked that other gyms would block off certain parts of the gym and equipment for their personal trainers, preventing all members from using all of the equipment - I haven't noticed such a thing here. I disliked how other gyms didn't have bumper plates, hex bars, or any serious lifting equipment - Gold's has an awesome amount of equipment. I like this daycare better than the other daycares I've used at other gyms. I know at daycares, kids will definitely get sick, but at other gyms, my son would get horribly sick after every visit, with high fevers. I think the other gyms just had SO MANY kids, it was inevitable. So far with this gym, we haven't had one sickness (knock on wood!) Every time I peak in on my little one, they're playing with the kids - which is such a positive experience for me considering at a different gym, I walked in on my 1 year old laying on his face crying hysterically while all the baby sitters just sat around and watched him - he wasn't throwing a fit, he had gotten hurt. So needless to say, this daycare has been an absolute blessing to me. Upon reading some of the other reviews, I'm less concerned with the cleanliness of the gym itself. To me, a person with OCD, I don't even notice, or at least I'm not bothered by any dirtiness. I work out hard, I'm there to get sweaty and gross, so I just don't care. I don't care if it smells like sweat. I don't care if people grunt - I want to give them a high five for lifting super heavy! From day 1, I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff. There is always someone attentive when you come and go (often addressing me by name) and they are always eager to help with any questions I might have. The gym overall has a decent variety of machines. The bottom floor is focused on weights and the top floor has most of the cardio machines. The gym offers a large variety of classes throughout the day and all of the instructors are very friendly and motivational. Compared to other gyms in the area, the monthly membership is incredibly competitive - around $30/month. It's a good value for what you are paying! I wish they had wi-fi, but they do have a ton if channels you can watch on most machines. The upstairs does get very warm during the summer, however they recently got a new AC and it has gotten better. Parking can be busy during peak hours, and you might have to spend a few minutes looking for a spot to park. Overall great gym and great staff! read more

I had bought a groupon and I was hoping to use this place for a month and make a decision between the major gyms in the area. There are several near my kid's preschool and this particular gym happened to be in the perfect location between drop off points. The rude salesperson first asked me what motivated me to come to the gym. I told him that I wanted to attend group exercises and run on the treadmill twice a week between the two hours I get from preschool. He tells me that my reason isn't enough motivation for me to fully utilize the trial membership and therefore the gym will not honor the groupon. He kept asking me for my motivation. From the moment you enter this gym, it's a horrible experience. The smell hits you like a brick upside the face and it's a dirty facility too. This gym is so ghetto and I'm appalled by Kirkland having such a sub-par facility. The staff are very "douchy" with plenty of attitude and resting bitch faces. They're so rude and seem like they hate their minimum wage job. No water coolers leave your water bottle empty and your thirst unquenched. Bathrooms are dirty too. I only went to this gym on a "trial basis". I immediately knew this would not be a good fit for me. Also... yoga teacher with dreads - you are not a stand up comedian. Some people actually want a spritual peaceful yoga practice! Wow... I hates his yoga class. Him mentioning farting openly as part of his practice was TMI for any experience in a class. My review is very mixed. We joined GG back when we moved to Kirkland. The front desk staff was so kind and the facility itself is always clean, kept up well, and there are a plethora of machines and weights. Now the nitty gritty and why I left. Beatrice at the daycare. The daycare in general, actually. You sign up with paperwork stating all of these things. -They come and get you if your child is getting restless or needs a changing. -They can turn you down if they have too many kids All of these things I AGREE WITH. you SHOULD come get me if my baby has a poopy butt. You should come get me if she's crying. You should turn me away if there are 15 kids in there. None of those things they do! I had picked up my kid soaked in water. I have walked by to see Beatrice just watching tv. I have seen her talking on the phone, texting. Ignoring the kids. I've HEARD my child crying and had to go and get her because she wasn't being paid attention to. There would be days where the daycare would be PACKED with kids and I literally just walked out because there was one attendant. And I've complained a dozen times. Nothing had been done. They couldn't hold on to daycare workers so when I realized she was the one working virtually open to close everyday I had to leave. It was inexpensive but you get what you pay for. My child is too important. If you have older kids, this might be a viable option for you. But my child was only 6 months when I started here. She needs more than a glorified tv watching babysitter. Gold's Gym was always a sore subject for me. The gym doesn't have a great reputation in New York (they typically don't keep up with their equipment). However, now that I've moved to the West Coast, I decided to give Gold's a chance. The immediate irritant was the parking. For those looking for a workout right after work (4:30PM - 6:30PM), the parking will 80% be a hassle. The lot is not very big and doesn't leave much room for their customers, as neighboring businesses block of sections of the small lot for themselves. But inside, the equipment is VERY well kept. The gym recently did a complete equipment overhaul to their cardio equipment, and it was for the better. The equipment all have IOS docking stations and Live TV! An excellent way to pass the time during those 'cardio workouts'. Gold's has a bit of a problem with over-crowding around the 4:30PM - 7:00PM timeframe. Otherwise, the gym caters perfectly for those looking to get a work out . Gold's is FULL of gym enthusiasts and those just trying to stay in shape. Don't let yourself be turned away by the gym-a-holics, as they really offer some help when you need it (not just instructors, but actual patrons of Gold's - very cool people). PROS: - Excellent staff, very helpful and very friendly. - Lockers are available for those looking to head straight from work - but bring your own lock! - Cardio Machines are BRAND NEW and have IOS docking stations and TV! (also an AUX plug-in for your headphones) - Machines are well kept. Always clean and kept in good shape. If you ever run into an issue, the staff there are very helpful. CONS: - Personal trainers tend to try and sell you product a bit too much. I'm not one to use supplements that cost 60$ for 20 pills, but even after saying so - I was consistently reminded of the product. - Parking is very limited for those looking to come straight after work (4:30PM - 7:00PM) on weekdays. I like Gold's in Woodinville and my favorite trainers work there, BUT the Kirkland location is a true meat head gym! I am saying this as a positive, since most of the downstairs area is dedicated to weight lifting and doesn't feel crammed. Oodles of free weights and various machines. Kettle bells and medicine balls are also available. Cardio equipment is a little outdated, but still in great condition. They could use more cleaning wipes stations, but overall this is a great gym. Location is not the most convenient, but if you live in Kirkland it's still within 5-7 minutes of driving. read more

Two stars. Here's why. The gym itself is awesome. It has more than enough equipment and space. The front desk staff are always nice, even if they are sometimes a bit clueless, and i've no real complaints other than one: A gym is a business and, like any business, they create a client base where a certain level of trust is given and earned. When these businesses say things like, "Hey bring a friend and we'll give you $20!", you believe them because it's your gym. So it's important to me that the business honors their word. This is not the case so far. I brought a friend in for the 3 day pass, he liked the gym, and he signed up. Cool. Everything I did was within the requirements to get that $20 credit. Except...after two months, i've yet to receive that credit. I call every-so-often to ask about it and I get told the same thing, "Oh ok! I see you in the system and your friend. Great! I'll e-mail corporate and they'll get that taken care of for you!" In which I always respond with, "Great! I'll call back to get that confirmation!". As I said, nice front desk staff. So I call today and...the same thing. Front desk staff, some lady, was really nice and said she'd do the same thing that the other front desk staff said they'd do. I honestly didn't know what else to do but write this review. So be warned. The gym itself is great and if you're not necessarily worried about the gym honoring their promotions then you're still good. If you're anything like me then it matters when a business says they'll do something...but they don't. read more
