I can already feel and see the benefits from the workouts; my strength, mood and energy have definitely improved. I like the group camaraderie and friendly welcomes to established and new members. Fitness goals and challanges are encouraged and assistance is available. There are a variety of classes, Crossfit, Barbell, Masters +55 (one of the classes I take), Personal training and even Open gym times. Crossfit Kenmore is located near Burke Gilman Trail and a beautiful Park. Hope to see you!

When I walked in, it was a very "Seattle Freeze" community. If you aren't part of the regulars, you're largely ignored. I tried to spark conversations, but it was clear that I was not welcomed by the "regulars". The trainer of the session was very kind, but didn't really explain the terminology of CrossFit for me. So I spent most of my time trying to understand just what I was supposed to be doing. Lastly, I just don't enjoy the "competitiveness" of the classes. It's more about people beating each other's score than it is about self growth. Mind you: I'm an avid fitness enthusiast. I have been working out for over 10 years. I know what I'm doing inside of a gym. I also have been to gym classes. And, by comparison, other gyms have had a far friendlier and inviting atmosphere. Trainers have gone out of their way to introduce newcomers to regulars to help grow their community. This gym seems to cater to the regulars above all else. Sadly, I won't be back. I gave it three classes, but it was the same thing every time. I give it 2 stars because the attitude of the trainers were pleasant. I just wish they knew how to (a) cater to CF newbies better and (b) did more to break the Seattle freeze community here.

The draw for ECA over big places like LA/24 hour was the smaller business vibe & I wanted to "shop local". I also liked the childcare options. 1. when we signed up at the Ballinger Village location with Brody, he made a big show of telling us (my husband and I) how they're a small business and they're not out to get money, he said most of them are just personal trainers or nutritionists, NOT BUSINESSMEN (i remember this line because he repeated it several times). So he encouraged me to sign up for the champions class. I asked specifically if I could cancel if it didn't fit my needs/baby schedule. He said "of course. But I'd recommend you try it for at least 60 days so you can really see if it works for you. And if you still need to cancel, just reach out. We're really chill here." This was near verbatim. 2. After more than a couple months, I found the champions class great for others but not for me/my toddler's schedule so I emailed to cancel which was the ONLY option I was given. And the email response was short, rude, and included a "$299 + tax downgrade fee" for the cancellation. Mind you, I wasn't trying to cancel our membership. Just MY champions access. I told them what Brody had told us just months prior and they absolutely didn't budge. That's fine. It's policy - I get it. But this is totally the kind of stuff big businesses pull and they should be up front. 3. We ended up completely cancelling our memberships (both of us) because we thought this way of business was shady and when you think about the cost and what they offer v. what big gyms offer (LA/24) then you'll realize it's absolutely not worth it. all that talk in the beginning is EXACTLY what it sounds like. a sales pitch. don't be sucked in. **I will say the teachers at the childcare are above and beyond. I have told everyone I know about our ECA experience and hopefully saved people quite a bit of $$$ but I have nothing negative to say about the teachers at childcare. ** in case my review is too long. read this reddit forum. https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/comments/oanvzy/emerald_city_athletics_a_toxic_manipulative_and/

When I hear "24 Hour Fitness," I naturally expect the gym to be open 24 hours. However, this location's hours are 5 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 5 a.m.-8 p.m. on Friday, and 8 a.m.-8 p.m. on weekends. This may not be an issue for everyone, but it caught me off guard. I showed up to work out at 9 p.m. on a Friday, assuming the gym would be open, only to find it closed and had to drive to the Lynnwood location instead. Other than that, it's a great gym--I just think the name can create some confusion about the actual hours.

Don't believe the newer members who don't notice how disgustingly filthy this place is. THE LEADERSHIP DOES NOT do anything about it and they're lying. This place is absolutely filthy. I have pics to prove it and nothing ever changes. Skin and hair layered on the machines. Filthy saunas. Floors disgusting. Don't take my word for it Go check it out yourself. It's not opinion, it's fact. MACHINES: Outdated and dirty. Gross in fact. Especially upstairs. GARBAGES: Constantly overflowing. BATHROOMS: Dirty. Overflowing garbages, garbage on floor. LEADERSHIP: Poor. Unresponsive. Previous manager was totally checked out and unresponsive. Current leadership-- unresponsive. They do not return messages, acknowledge requests. This place is awful. I keep coming because of the friends I've made, but overall gets a failing grade. I know 7 gyms in the area, and this is, by far, the dirtiest. As a leader of many organizations, I can honestly say this is one of the worst businesses I've ever been involved with. The leaders do not lead with conviction, just excuses. Culture is terrible. What is the ONE thing people care about the most at a gym? Cleanliness. 24hr fitness? An F for failing. They take away paper towel dispensers so the people use less. They seriously don't care. If you care about cleanliness, this is not the place for you. If you can tolerate poor leadership and a filthy environment, then go for it. If the pool and saunas attract you to this gym, just be prepared for dirty areas. It's so bad, people bring their own masking smells. 24-hr Fit screams, "We don't care. But sign up here." The only passing grade are a few employees that actually care, but feel like their hands are tied to actually do something about the problems. Should I add photos from this morning? And it's like this every day
