The way they do contracts is a scam be careful with this place will continue charging after the contract you signed. The gym is outdated however makes you pay premium price. A key to the success of coming to a gym like Gold's is to get a good personal trainer when you start out. My family have been members of Gold's Gym for a number of years and I have to say that this gym just keeps getting better! They have the latest equipment. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They have a variety of classes with very inspiring instructors. The trainers are all approachable. I love the free coffee in the morning, the juice bar and all the updated changes. It is very clean and well lit. They play great music and have strong wifi! This is a great gym with great energy and is highly recommended! read more

Women's locker rooms are disgusting. Staff sends out surveys asking how the gym is doing and when I mentioned the condition of the locker rooms I received an email back saying that their locker rooms are clean. Umm...so am I making up the fact that I saw a bloody tampon in the shower??? There's hair all over the floors? Some of the exercise equipment don't work properly... and yet they don't replace them. They constantly send out surveys wanting to know how they can improve the gym, and yet they do NOTHING about it. As you can see the owner only replies to positive comments on Yelp. read more

Used this gym tons when I was a member . Had to leave early due to moving away and they were accommodating. A lot of mix up when canceling my membership but they always corrected it and made it fine. I'm on my week trial membership at Gold's, but so far it's been great! The location is truly crappy - you get the nice smells of the sewage treatment plant, and it neighbors a run-down McDonald's. Inside, however, is a great work-out experience. There's a plentiful amount of different sets of equipment, and everyone's friendly and helpful. I'm certainly going to pay for a full membership once as my trial is over. It's nearby and a great place overall. Only skipping the fifth star due to the times I've visited the locker rooms. I joined this gym as it's the closest to my house, but it could use some updating! The cardio equipment is clearly out of date and I've had times where I changed machines several times b/c the piece I was using wasn't operating properly. The cardio equipment do not have TV's attached and most don't have the ability to hook up to the main TV's. It gets crowded but nothing like LA Fitness at the Springfield Mall. The amount of members and money this gym has, it is time to do some updating. The staff is friendly, but the equipment is starting to show its age. Some of the machines are always broke or needs some sort of attention. The cable systems sucks as it isn't free flowing as it should at time. The wifi is just as bad as the equipment. It's never connected and when you finally do, it's always buffering because its painstakingly slow. That's terrible as far as a "service" rendered. Now the biggest update needed is the bathrooms and locker rooms as there are unsatisfactory. There is no reason why the bathrooms should look the way it does. Toilets, gross, tiles on the floors and showers are GROSS, Locker rooms are gross. It makes me not want to use the bathroom facilities or take a shower. It's really terrible for a gym of this size. Upgrade the bathroom and locker rooms already. One water fountain station in this entire facility is ridiculous also. Not to mention, one is always broke or the water is always hot. Fix these things and the gym will be a better place. You have competition coming to your area soon in L.A. Fitness at Hilltop. I advise you approach the customers complaints or suggestions accordingly or else you're going to see a wave of people leaving for the brand new Bells and Whistles. read more

This gym can be affordable if you get the right contract. I pay $35 monthly on a contract with a year commitment which I think is about the median price. I know people paying higher and lower for the same contract. I feel like the atmosphere is pretty dreadful. Midday during non peak hours the gym is filled with elitist who nearly scoff at you and during peak hours the gym is so packed that it's difficult to get to the equipment you'd want to use. I've heard decent things about the classes and personal training but have never tried either. I would highly recommend trying a few other gyms in the area before committing to this one. read more

Aaand disappointed. When I had asked for the no-contract deal, figured out a few months later that I had been given the 2-year contract to sign. I'll be stuck until I provide proof of moving over 25 miles. It also doesn't help that the front desk people started giving me looks instead of just ignoring me like they used to. If you're going to come here, make sure to be very clear to whoever's signing you up about which plan you want, and double-check because apparently they'll still give you what you don't want. Note: they make you sign electronically so it's hard to even read what the contract says. Either way, when I get out of the contract, I'm not coming back. read more

So its been 3 weeks since my family and I have started, and so far, things have been good. The manager, Mark, was the one that explained everything to us. He was very nice, informative, and NOT pushy at all like other gym reps. We literally went to several gyms and Mark was the only one that did not rush us to become a member. The staff is always so friendly. Always greeting us when we leave and enter the facility. I guess my one comment is some of the equipment inside are outdated. They work perfectly fine, but since we've seen other gyms, we saw the newer equiptment like the ones that have ipod chargers and the ones with the tv's in them.... Another thing is the hours. I really wanted to go to a 24 hour gym but because it was too expensive i opted to go to golds gym. on weekdays they close at 10 and weekends they close at 8. i wish they had it extended to at least by midnight because i have a full time job, and a family. i usually end up getting there by 9pm after the baby has been bathed, fed, and put to sleep. i would prefer to work out more than an hour, but because of the time, i have no choice. all in all, they are a good facility. i just wanted to make a suggestion to extend the hours and update some of the equipment. read more

I highly recommend the Organic Cookie Crunch shake after Les Mills RPM on a Saturday morning. Best way to start a Saturday is taking RPM at 9am with Caron. Most management there is terrible and very rude. Very inconsistent and don't treat customers/employees right. Hardly anybody there is willing to work with you when you need something and it always seems to be the end of the world when you need help from somebody who works there. In NOVA there are gyms in every corner-what makes Lorton Golds Gym different from all of them is the management. Absolutely hospitable and accommodating, especially Mr. Harrison. Generally clean gym, pick your hours to go as you are close to a military base so some are more busy than others. Overall good experience. I have been going to this location for a year now. The staff are friendly and they have nice new equipment. I gave only three starts for not having reliable wifi. See my phone has no reception in there what so ever. The Internet worked 2 times during the year long I have been coming here, and I complained to many times. I go to this gym 4 -5 times a week. Also they every now and then the showers run out of hot water. If you care about Internet while working out then this is not the place. read more

I like this gym. The location is perfect for me. They have ample machines, weights, classes. Its clean. My gripe is with the customers. I am constantly having to put the weights back on the rack in the women's area. A sign reminding others to do this would help. Also am fed up with customers on the phone/texting while sitting on the machines or sitting on the floor blocking the way. Today was the last straw. A woman was sitting on the floor in the ladies area, talking on her phone and blocking the way to the free weights. People: if you are working out, get off the phone! If its necessary to make a call, move out of the active work out area. Go to the lobby or better yet, just leave. Thanks for letting me vent. read more

Faiza Khan is one of the best personal trainers I have ever had. In less than 6 months, she took me from hardly being able to climb a hill to being able to climb the Yosemite half dome! The following year, I was able to reach the highest point of the Inca Trail of Rainbow Mountain in Peru. That was an altitude of 16,000 feet! After that, on June 17 of this year, I managed to be one of only 6 people out of 12 hiking group members who made it all the way up to Uhuru, the summit of Kilimanjaro, an altitude of 20,000 feet, the highest point in Africa! I never could have accomplished any of these hikes without the constant support and training of Faiza. In fact, when I started with her, I could barely do a couple of push ups without getting out of breath! When I received the certificate for making it to the summit of Kilimanjaro, it was an unforgettable accomplishment, comparable only to receiving my PhD from UCLA. I have belonged to this gym for 8 months. The good: 1. Nice staff 2. Lots of classes 3. Location is convenient (for me) 4. The women's locker room is nice and cool, well-lit and there are plenty of lockers. The bad: 1. Out of order equipment takes too long to be fixed. The faucet in the women's bathroom, for example, took 2 months to be replaced. I could have gone to Home Depot and installed it myself in 2 hours. 2. The manager called and told me the hairdryers for the women's locker room were on order. That was four months ago. These are not "special" hairdryers costing thousands and specially designed. These the one travel hairdryers one can purchase in Walmart for $8.00 each. Clearly, he was placating me. I'm disappointed. 3. The temperature of the workout area is truly horrendous. The A/C is rarely on and the air is hot, moist, and smells fetid. I tried to talk to several workers about it and they said it's at the optimal temperature. This is incorrect. The optimal temperature for working out per the American Academy of Sports Medicine (e.g. orthopedic surgeons vs. "trainers") is 68 degrees and non-humid, not the hot, rank, wet 78+ degrees at Golds. I often am sweating even before I start working out. Clearly, this gym is influenced by uneducated people who see athletes sweat on TV and therefore think sweat = a good workout. Sweating should be a by-product of a high heart rate x exertion x time. This can even occur when running outdoors in the winter. Conversely, I can sit in my car with the A/C off and sweat. That does not mean I worked out. The temperature needs to be dropped. The barely-moving air feels and smells repulsive and is not condusive to running fast on a treadmill. read more

I absolutely love this gym. I got introduced to it by a friend. Adam, one of the sales associates I assume, was great at negotiating and helping my mom and I commit to switching from L.A. Fitness. He immediately set us up with two free personal training sessions with one of their trainers named Matt. If you're searching for a personal trainer than go no further, Matt is your guy. He's great at pushing you and making you laugh all in one workout. Even after our free sessions he still comes up to us to give advice, answer any questions we have, and generally see how we're doing. The actual equipment in the gym is great and they intend on doing updates soon, however, one of the stair masters has been in disrepair for awhile and there's not enough of them to have it out of service for that long. The only reason I'm giving this gym a four instead of a five is the WiFi. When I'm doing cardio I enjoy watching Netflix and going on social media to distract myself but that's super hard to do when the WiFi always says "no connection." I end up using all my data which is unfortunate. I understand that a lot of the the other people who go here are also bothered with this issue. It needs to be addressed as soon as possible. I never had an issue with the WiFi at my old gym or any other gym I've been to. read more

They are not nice, don't ask them a question or they will give you a look, like, why are you bothering me, and they tell you to go find something yourself if you are looking for an item.
