The staff are really nice and keep busy putting weights back where they belong and it's also a fair price as far as a gym membership! Lots of leg day equipment options too! There is a posing room if you compete in body building, and a private room for "influencers" where they can record content since recording is not allowed on the main floor gym area- lovely policy! (I'm not being sarcastic!) My husband likes the sauna and that it's pretty hot so he doesn't have to crank it up ever. Customer policy and customer service is mediocre, to give you specific, the internet bandwidth is terrible (especially in the evening when everyone logged in). they charge you to replace your check in card even thigh it's because of ware and tare (confirming even after owner posted policy) Too focused on signing up new member, not nearly enough on keep the existing. Also, fact, compare the gym hours especially weekends compare to other gyms or even other golds. read more

Gold's gyms tend to be the epitome of what every gym should emulate. However, the one located at 7700 Gunston Plaza Lorton, VA 22079. Seemed to fall short of that perceived standard. The reason I am saying this is because I fear for the future and current users safety at this facility. The air conditioning and fans did not work. When bringing this to the attention of the staff they seemed eager to help but their tone of voice and body language felt and appeared like this is something they have dealt with or has been brought to their attention before. I even talked to 4 other gym users to which all agreed that the lack of air conditioning and fans negatively affected their experience at this facility. It was so bad that I went to the bathroom to use cold water to cool down, and after having all 3 sinks on cold for over 7 mins, there was only warmer than room temperature water. I honestly believe people could become heat casualties in this facility. It's very disappointing. The gym was a very well set up gym with all of the equipment one could ask for. But, it appears that there is a lack of safety concern by the management of this facility. Myself I consider as slightly above a casual fitness enthusiast having both my deadlift and squat at almost 600 lbs. Having been to multiple facilities around the United States and the world, this was definitely BELOW par. I do hope that management takes this comment seriously as I am genuinely concerned for other people's safety. This is a very functional suburban gym. The layout is basically one giant room with weights and all the conditioning equipment in the center of the room and all the cardio equipment around it. The reason to go to this gym is the KANGOO JUMPS cardio class. I had read about these classes in the Washington Post Express and had to try them. Unparalleled fun. The instructor Beth Kruper is a gem: knows her stuff, energetic, and makes choreography easy to follow. You have got to try this class. read more

My husband and I joined Gold's Gym in Lorton just under a year ago. I was hesitant to switch gyms because I was very attached to the club I was going to before we moved. However, now that we have been Gold's it feels like home. The staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. The front desk staff, trainers, group fitness instructors, and child care employees are all top of the line. This club offers a variety of class options, and I have yet to take on that I have not enjoyed. Also, if I feel like working out on the floor the equipment is clean and well maintained. I'm a self-diagnosed gym rat and gym snob. There have been times (especially while traveling for work) when I have had 3 different gym memberships. This particular Gold's in Lorton is probably one of the best in the state of VA. I love that they have added 2 turf areas for functional training and they added some deadlift platforms with bumper plates, keeping up with the fitness trends. But they also have what Gold's is famous for...every piece of cardio equipment you can imagine, loads of free weights, machines, and dumbbells, plus complimentary group fitness classes like body pump and yoga. One of the highlights of this location is that the members are very friendly and no one has an ego. People either keep to themselves listening to their music or politely talk to each other while they workout. I've been approached several times and had folks introduce themselves to me within my first couple of weeks working out here. The employees greet you by name at the front desk and are very responsive if you have a question or feedback. The gym is impeccably clean and the locker room does not smell at all. Either they clean it everyday from top to bottom or the members are very hygienic. If you go to this gym, I think you'll find it has everything you need and more. read more

This is the worst and biggest scam you can ever get into. The gym is small and always crowded after work. I tried to cancel my membership and got hit with some bogus cancellation fee. My year long obligation ended. So many QUALITY machines. Honestly, I can hit every muscles group in 6 different ways. That's how stacked this gym is. It's a hidden gem, in my opinion. They have a smoothie bar too, which most new gyms don't bother with cause they're cheap. This Gold's is still spending the money to keep members happy. It's always clean and is pretty spacious. Staff is welcoming, I'm always greeted by name when I arrive. EDIT: "QUALITY" machines referenced above is a combination of new age "life fitness" and old school "body master" style machines. I have been a member of this Golds gym for over three years and am usually in this facility almost seven days per week. I have enjoyed using this gym during the past three years and used to recommend it to others but due to what I have recently observed I cannot recommend this gym and will be looking for a new fitness facility. Today when I arrived around 3:15 pm I was using the bench press in the center carpeted area of the gym. On the shoulder machine in the carpeted area was a gym patron talking loudly on his cell phone. He was within about ten feet of Dale, one of the owners/managers and other gym staff yet no one asked this patron, who is one of the biggest men in the gym, to either end his call or move to the lobby to continue his discussion. In addition to talking loudly on his phone this member failed to remove the weights on the shoulder machine and also did not wipe down his equipment. This member moved to the leg machine where he sat and continued his loud conversation within a few feet of a sign asking members to take all calls off of the gym floor. Once he left the leg machine, which he also did not wipe down, he moved to the back machine where he continued his extremely loud conversation, failed to remove his weights, or wipe down this machine. I was working on the decline press on the other side of the gym and I could still hear him talking. Not once during his loud conversation did a member of the Golds gym staff ask him to refrain from talking on his phone. When I was on the treadmill around 4:00 pm, about forty minutes after I began my workout, I observed him walking into the locker room still talking on his cell phone, which according to the gym rules, is also prohibited. Unfortunately gym patrons talking on their cell phones is a daily issue at this Golds gym and it is a travesty that the gym staff at this Golds do not enforce the rules they posted. One of the reasons I left my last gym was due to the inconsiderate and rude behavior of fellow patrons who talked loudly on their phones while sitting on equipment those of us who are there to workout could be using. I am not paying my dues so I can come to a gym and have to listen to other patron's conversations. The last time I checked a gym is where one goes to workout, not engage in loud and lengthy phone calls that are disruptive, rude, and distracting to those of us that are there to workout. If you are serious about fitness and working out then I recommend you join a gym where patrons are considerate of one another, follow the posted rules, and where management actually enforces the rules they posted in their facility. Unfortunately this is not done at this Golds and it has become more of a social club then a gym where those serous about fitness go to exercise. read more

Wife and I have been at this gym since January 2007. Staff is great, place is very clean, bright, and there is a good vibe with every person there. People are extremely clean-conscious since the pandemic. Dale and his staff keep the gym spotless. Lindsey and Karen are super-friendly, ALL the front desk folks are very friendly. I know there are complaints about equipment and the ventilation there, but I have never experienced any issues. The gym is conveniently located a few minutes from house and there enough cardio and weight machines for everyone so there is hardly ever a wait for any machine. I also like there is a separate smaller gym off the women's bathroom for additional privacy if needed. Everyone is nice and the membership price is very affordable. First I would like to say that it is a nice gym, it's big with plenty of machines and classes and nice bathrooms. I would give this gym a higher review, but they lack in customer service training, especially when it comes to contracts. I advise future customers to read your contract, here are a few things to take note of: 1. If you sign a contract, in my case it was a 2-Year Contract, note that your membership automatically renews after the contracts ends. So, if you're thinking that, hey my gym membership ends in 2 years, think again, you have to manually cancel your membership. 2. When you do cancel your membership, make sure you cancel before the date of when you sign up for the gym. They cancel memberships in 30-day increments. So, for example, if you signed up on the 9th in like February and decide to cancel on the 11th of March, you will be charged for the month of March and if you have a contract, you'll have to pay whatever remaining amount you owe in order to cancel your contract. 3. Also they charge a maintenance fee every year. I cancelled my membership in November, I didn't owe anything so I didn't have to pay anything else, but since I cancelled after the date of when I signed up I got charged for the maintenance fee, even though my wife and I did not use the gym. 4. This is not a corporate Gold's Gym, it is a franchise Gold's Gym, which means if you were to go to a Corporate Gold's Gym, you would have to pay $10 to use that gym. This works vice versa, if you have a corporate gym membership, you have to pay $10 to use a franchise gym. Now my personal complaint, to the owner or manager. Please train your employees to not argue with the customer. When I tried to cancel my membership, your employee was very rude. He kept giving me excuses that he couldn't cancel my membership, because his computer was not working and told me to come back. When I kept asking him if there was any other way, he kept giving me excuses. He then went on someone else's computer and was able to process my cancellation. When I asked him if I was going to get any refund or anything, his response was, "Why would you get anything back?!" I don't know what was up with his attitude, but I advise you train your employees better. read more

Just recently joined this gym. The membership options are expensive. One year of gym membership cost me $395.00. I got to meet with a trainer however, a workout routine was not set up. You have to purchase additional training sessions for that. In the first training session your body fat is measured against other people in your weight range and age, and it is discussed. The trainer only spent ten minutes with me discussing my posture as I lift weights. I am disappointed because I was expecting a workout routine to be set up for me. I may meet with a trainer in six months to check my progress, but the training rates are expensive. read more

And that the complaint from the other member was just that, a complaint, because they felt I was recording them... which I wasn't set up to have anyone else in view. I stated, "I had recorded on numerous occasions previously, with no issues", the response was - "recording in our gym is against our policy" ... nothing mentioning matching T-shirt's, etc... it's easy to use the matching T-shirt's and me promoting my business as the scape goat after you e had time to think about a response. Its not cool to pick and choose to make up policies on your own volition. If it's a policy, I respect that, just be consistent. Yes, we had matching pink T-shirt's..I actually stated that afternoon, we'd be recording, when my partner and I came in that day. Although it doesn't seem like it, I've been a member of Gold's Gym Lorton for years. Almost a decade. (Stop looking at my picture! I've had some off years!) The bathrooms are always clean, it has all the weights and equipment you need, without all the fancy bells and whistles. They have a sauna, 3 different rooms for fitness classes, and trainers that are ACTUALLY in incredible shape. I've been guests at other gyms, (keep in mind I'm NO SPRING CHICKEN BUT I'm not the one who is paid to look good), where the trainers were not that healthy looking. We also have the most unique members you will ever see. Here are a few of my favorites I've seen over the years. -The guy using the hula-hoop while looking at himself in the mirror. -The guy who does the same workout as me, right next to me, in an empty gym, with DOUBLE the weights. -The Ogre at night who can lift more weight than any human should be able to but tends to scream at the top of his lungs ergo scaring me while I'm doing my cute little set in the corner. -To the guy who tried to kick the heavy bag at the gym, missed, and fell: "I'm sorry I laughed.....then yelped" -The hilarious black guy who took one step into the rest room, saw a naked elderly man, and YELLED " g**DAMN!!!!!" then walked RIGHT OUT. Thank you sir, I for real never laughed harder. -Finally lets not forget the unbelievable women that, I'm sorry, put all of us men to shame with their CRAZY lunge squat "with more weights than my regular squats" insane workouts. My only complaint is the 10pm close time. I wish they would close at 11. Some of us who work or go to school real late could really benefit from the extra hour. I would love a vote to see if members would rather keep the hours OR open one hour later so that you can close one hour later. I've been there at 430 in the morning when the gym opens and in my opinion more people would appreciate coming at 10pm. AND WHY IS THERE A MCDONALD'S RIGHT NEXT TO IT!!!!!!! I've been working out here for almost 2 years. The gym has all the essential equipment for cardio and weight training workouts however, it lacks bathroom cleanliness, convenience, and professionalism (front desk). The water fountains seem to only have warm-hot water. Every time I've went here, the women's bathroom room has been a mess. There are always empty toilet rolls on the floor, new rolls laying on the floor, or no toilet paper at all. I complained twice about this. I complained to the Hispanic lady that works in the bathroom (not exactly sure what she does there besides talk on the phone) about it once and she looked at me and didn't even respond (no interpersonal skills whatsoever). The second was in a survey in which a manager emailed me telling me he wanted to discuss my complaints. I provided him with my phone number and he said he would call me. That was in May. It's now August. No call. No follow up email. Spin classes USED to be my thing until I joined this gym. You have to sign up for it here. Now who in the hell has time to sign up for a class? So inconvenient. Two individuals working the front desk staff are unprofessional and incompetent. I was waiting patiently for a female staff worker to assist me so I could get setup in the tanning bed however, she was busy talking to her friend about her evening plans. She continues to ignore me even though I know she knows I'm staring at her. She asks me rudely "Do you need something?" In which I replied "Oh I'm sorry did you think I was just standing here staring at you for nothing? Of course I need something." Second unprofessional incident: I work out every Sunday evening. The gym closes at 8:00pm on weekends. The lights cut out at 7:45pm. Not only did this happen once, but it happened multiple times. Once I was using the restroom when the lights dimmed. I felt bad for the women using the shower who were struggling to see in the dark. Another instance occurred when I was on the treadmill running. I almost tripped when the lights cut out at 7:45pm but thankfully I caught myself. My husband accidentally bumped his shoulder on a machine because it was PITCH BLACK in there. There have been many more instances like this. I asked her to stop doing that and warned her that someone could get seriously injured. Of course she blamed it on some emergency switch. No apology. No assurance that she would fix it. Of course I asked her why she cuts out the lights so early EVERY TIME she was working. She replies incompetently with a blank stare "I cut the lights out 10 minutes before closing." Her airhead reply didn't even answer my question of "Why". I told her I would talk to the manager about this (which I personally didn't get a chance to since my husband did). Her lack of unprofessionalism is appalling in which she replied "That's fine I don't care." I forget her name but she's the orange chubby chic with brown hair. My husband and I will be going to LA Fitness at Hilltop Village once it opens. I don't even care to pay early termination fees. Le sigh.... read more

I have been working out here for over two years now, and I love this gym. Great friendly staff, large array of equipment, and a spotless locker room make for a terrific workout atmosphere. Just one minor complaint: as someone who greatly benefited from assisted pull-up machine exercises while learning to do them unassisted I have to say...the one assisted pull-up/dip machine they have is about the worst I've ever seen. They could greatly benefit from a second machine; I'd love to see them get a Cybex Dip/Chin machine, which I think has a more natural feel to its movement than a machine with a knee pad. read more

This Gold's Gym has plenty of parking, and the fact that I can't avoid passing this gym on my way home from work, made it a clear winner. Although I previously have always worked out on my own, there is a great selection of classes to attend, and I figured it was worth trying one out. I recently tried a body pump class and an ab class that were top notch! I did notice that there were several reviews commenting on the women's locker room and broken machines. I am not sure if these were old reviews, but I can say that I have not had any issues with lack of cleanliness or out of order machines since I became a member back in April. Give this gym a chance. This place is small. One of the smallest gyms I've ever been to. The front desk attendant (don't know her name, and if I did I probably wouldn't tell you) is attitudinal with a touch of negligence. I went in to get a free pass (because honestly, it way too expensive here) and was directed to a trainer/new account assistant. He was friendly enough (with a tough man persona). He did the usual one-two-step of wheeling and dealing. I ended up with a 10 day pass and free training session. Over all, it's a gym, and a gym is a gym is a gym. Over crowed with muscle head and half naked women looking for dates. I'm probably never going to enroll. But love the free passes. read more

I disagree with Leelee. I don't know what the atmosphere is like later in the day but I'm normally there around 630 AM and I love it. I feel the folks that come here, are here for a reason and that is to get in a GOOD WORKOUT. I'm not here to make friends. The trainers that are there in the morning, are very well trained. Jason Urbanski is probably the best trainer I've ever worked with. It's all in what you want. Do you want results and be injury free? Or do you just want to come to the gym for the social aspect of it and just chit chat. There's mothing wrong with that if that's your thing and it motivates you to workout. And I disagree with his/her comment about the non positive energy. I've been working out here for a yr now and folks have told me that I've inspired them. They've watched me train with Jason and have said to themselves, if she can do this, I can. They didn't have to tell me but it was very nice of them to take the time out of their day to stop and say something to me. If you find a trainer that isn't suitable for you, ask for someone else. Not every trainer's style is suitable for everyone. I don't know what the classes are like at the Lorton location but I've heard good things about them. Expecially, the Kangoo class. I mostly take spinning at the Lake Ridge location but I look forward to trying out the MOI Cycle classes that are now being offered. The facility is clean when I'm there. And believe me, there's a lot of folks there around 4:30 & 5:30 AM. The reason I'm not fiving it a 5 is because the locker room could use some updating. read more

This gym has been one of my favorites through all of our military moves! The staff and owners are so friendly and helpful. We joined in 2018 when we first moved to Lorton. The location to our house was absolutely perfect. The equipment is well kept and the fitness classes are the best to come by with amazing instructors! Very energetic and welcoming! Caron, the fitness class manager is one of the best and absolutely so friendly and easy to talk to! I miss Golds Gym Lorton so much now that we are in El Paso. I will be visiting friends and be sure to go back to this golds for a quick class! Body pump is one of my absolute Favs and Caron's RPM on Saturday's was something to get up for in the morning. I am a member at the Simi Valley, CA gym. It is spacious, clean, and the equipment is always in workable condition. Kevin signed me up without a problem and was very welcoming. Adam at the desk always has a nice smile when some one arrives. Chelsey was quick to inform the right people about an unhealthy problem in the steam room. It was taken care of in no time. I have been coming here for over five years. It is a great facility, large and open with plenty of machines for both cardio and strength. The vibe is right on -- fairly serious but no fitness snobbery. The spin classes are excellent. The current group of staff and management is by far the best that I have experienced since I started coming here. They are all very friendly and helpful. Our FAVORITE part of the gym is the Kid's Zone. We love that we can have our kids play there while we exercise, and the ladies who look after them are nothing short of wonderful.
