Currently Max Fitness. Beware I highly recommend not going to this gym. The manager and people working there are horrible. They lie to you about memberships and charge your card extra money without authorization from you. Definitely do not go here. It's honestly a little confusing, when you first walk in because Gold's Gym generally has yellow equipment. You would think it wouldn't be a big deal, but red everything is a little off-putting, in my opinion. It's almost like this gym used to be an independent that got bought out by a Gold's, but didn't receive the memo that they got bought out and kept all of the old equipment and color themes. HUGE plus side, not to feed into the stereotype that Asians love saunas, but there is a SAUNA. That bumped this place up from a 2 to a 3 star. I have Anytime Fitness, Planet Fitness, and Gold's Gym memberships. Why? I don't know, I guess I am a health nut that is afraid of getting fat. I would only come here to use the sauna. The equipment is alright at best and could probably use maintenance and general sprucing up. When I walked in, there was about 6 or 7 staff members in the rotunda milling around, but none of them seemed like they wanted to do anything. To scan my card, three girls looked at each other for a hot minute before one of them kind of slumped her shoulders down and walked over to scan me in. Currently Max fitness. I posted a review months ago in reference to broken equipment including the AC this past summer and the stair steppers that remain broken. Of course currently the air isn't a concern, but the stair steppers remain broken. There are 3 standing in the building and only one works. Max fitness has been a big disappointment to include the fact that they haven't gone back to the 24 hour schedule. Is it possible to get key fobs if you all don't have staff to maintain 24 hour entry? read more

Just bad. Unwittingly signed up for a 24 MONTH membership and they make you jump through hoops to cancel. They don't tell you that the "cancellation form" doesn't actually cancel your membership. Now they've cost me 90$ in overdraft fees and unwanted membership fees. Pathetic equipment inventory. Only 2 mediocre squat racks, one deadlift pad, and the men's locker room smells like taint all the time. This place is a bad joke please DON'T go. read more

I always try to come here when I am in town visiting my parents, its a really great gym with really great staff. Lots of exercise variety and equipment, anything you might want, well maintained, super clean, nice showers and sauna. Open 24 hours! I haven't done a class personally but the fitness and cycle rooms look pretty nice and inviting too. Anyways, just wanted to show some love since it's always a very positive experience when I visit. read more

Very disappointed in this gym. They advertised special that they would transfer ANY gym membership. I called and asked if North Augusta Riverview rec center would count. The guy on phone said yes definitely. So I make special trip to NA rec center to get copy of membership then go all the way out to Gold's. They made me wait about 10 min to talk to some sales rep guy. Then he went into some sales spiel and gave me forms to fill out. Then finally came back to tell me that gym did not qualify. They just want to get you in the door to sell you stuff. I ended up going back to rec center. At $50/year still better deal then Gold' s. I refuse to support any business that lies to my face and wastes my time. read more

A good place to work out for a reasonable price. Quite a variety a things to do. Biggest complaint is the don't share their Internet WiFi with the customers. TV's next to each other will often being showing the same channel. Mondays are usually the busiest, Saturday and Sunday are the slowest. read more

This location is OK. I've been going off and on for several years and each time I have went they have never had their juice bar open. I found out today that it is closed for good. They had no arc trainers which aggrivated me because I can't use an elliptical. Other than that it's OK. I would go to a different location just because of what they had to offer here. read more

Let's just say I hate working out. A friend enticed me to join the gym with them...being that all the good food I love had been wrecking my figure, I decided to join as well. You couldn't bet the $10 special with a stick...so I was like what the hell. When I first started I was skeptical about the whole gym atomsphere, the whole hard body type image frowning upon a regular person who is dealing with maintaining a healthy pyshique. To my surprise it was nothing like that. Everyone from the staff to the customers were very friendly and were available to help. There are so many extra amenities than just workout equipment. The facility is always clean and presentable and great for a good workout. read more

My wife and I have been attending here REGULARLY for years. The staff is always polite and encouraging. My wife takes BodyPump twice per week and LOVES it. The instructors push her passed her limits to change. With the exception of a need of aome additional equipment, there is nothing I would ever ask for from a Golds. read more

Audio level in cardio cinema is too low to hear over din of machines. Staff is aware and has been aware for months. They state the audio will clip if they raise the volume. There is obviously something wrong with the setup of the equipment. Both of the other locations, Aiken and Augusta do not have this problem. The rest of the gym is typical but I use the cinema regularly and this takes away from its usefulness. read more

Just an average gym. Been going here for years. My only real gripes are the dumbells are no heavier than 85 pounds and that there is only one squat rack. It sucks when people are curling and shrugging in it when I'd like to squat on something other than a smith machine. read more

I'm leaving Golds Gym, Aiken after 10 plus years because of Operations Manager Larry Nelson. The most unprofessional manager I've ever had contact with. Customer service is not a core value for Golds Gym. 4 memberships were cancelled and Larry appeared to be happy to lose the income. read more

An OK gym. Nothing special but it gets the job done. In a small town like North Augusta a larger facility would probably not be cost effective. They have most of the standard gym equipment but I wish they had at least 2 of each type of equipment. If they're never going to open their juice bar they should convert it to a vending area. Also, I have a friend who's lock was cut off his locker and wallet was stolen. I now have started locking valuables in my car. read more

I must admit, I was rather skeptical about joining a gym. But, after the first visit, I was hooked. The staff goes out of their way to make sure we are taken care of and they are some of the nicest folks ever! The class instructors always make sure that we are not feeling left behind. Membership in any of the 4 Augusta-area Gold's Gyms gives you access to the other 3. I visited this one for a workout. The locker room area is very nice and clean. The workout area was also clean, but it is minimalistic. As others have pointed out, dumbbells only go to 85#. For dumbbell bench press I warm up at 80#. The small, poorly-equipped workout area would be OK for a hotel gym, but it's shamefully unacceptable for a place that evokes Joe Gold. read more

Staff was great. Place is well kept. Everything is nice. The only bad part is i was disappointed that a Gold's Gym doesn't have dumbbells heavier than 85lbs. I have to say, you would think that this gym would not be lacking heavy weights. This kind of made me shy away being that I am avid lifter. read more

The only reason I continue to work out here is because it's close to my house and I don't pay very much to work out here. The girls that work at the front desk are more concerned with gossiping and getting on Facebook. A lot of the times they put the scanner up so that you have to check in yourself and don't even greet you when you come in. I have been coming here 3-4 times a weekfor almost 4 years (ever since they opened) and they don't even greet me by name. There are also things that have been broken for a very long time (a water fountain, the audio in the cardio cinema, a leak in the ceiling, ripped upholestry in the machines) I think they just don't care to fix it. Manager does absolutely nothing if you speak to him. I have spoke to him before about how rude some of his staff has been and he was very indifferent. A few of my coworkers used to work out here and have switched to the YMCA due to the rudeness of the staff. read more
